I understand how one day you like a certain perfume and another day (or season) you don't. That's why I can't do a perfume tray for a month or a week, because every day I wake up with different mood and cravings and I just go with what calls my name and make me happy this day ))
I was in Ann Taylor and was aware ( and self-conscious!) of the 2 put together sales associates whispering while watching me. One of them came to the fitting room and asked to speak with me. “ My co-worker and I are both afraid to ask you what scent you are wearing, but we are obsessed. You smell amazing.” I was so relieved that that was the whispering, and so thrilled to tell them that I had just liberally sprayed Parfums de Marley Valaya as I walked through Dillards. She wrote it down. On the way back to my car, I couldn’t resist buying a bottle! Perhaps your husband smelled it right after you sprayed and it needed time to “quiet”.

I wanted and expected to love Valaya, but it smells like industrial-strength cleaning supplies on me. Unfortunately I'm in your husband's camp and totally get the lighter fluid reference.
Celeste is incredibly beautiful . Love at first sniff for me. I quite literally bought at after wearing it for about 20 minutes. It was my first time smelling candied violets and I obviously love it. I blind bought a 5 ml decant of Amouage Sunshine Woman, as I was confident I would love the fragrance and it came highly praised from several RUclipsrs. Upon first sniff, I was taken back to emptying ashtrays as I waitress and getting a huge waft of stale butts and ash as the cloud of dust wafted up from the garbage can. I was so disappointed (in myself for blind buying from Amouage : newbie to niche fragrances at that point in time and unfamiliar with the house. Lesson: don’t blind buy Amouage fragrances. ) I do love tobacco as a note in fragrance so that’s the thing that baffled me. I have worn it several times because I don’t want to waste it, but every time I think I will get apricots and florals, I smell like a walking ashtray. Even my husband gets ashtray. Oh well. It’s an expensive room spray now. I must admit, I get a thrill from blind buying fragrances. I do buy samples but sometimes I don’t want to waste the money on ordering samples and paying shipping when I could put that money towards the full size. I love Meliora! I blind bought a decant of it and it worked out! lol Once my decant is gone, I am for sure getting a full size bottle of it. I love how crisp and bright the fruits are . I’m not a fan of muddled or dried or syrupy fruits. The performance isn’t great, about 4 hours today, but I’m home a lot so I just re-apply. It’s always a pleasure to see you ❤~Chelsea
I know others who get the ash tray smell too. Amouage is definitely not blind buy safe 😆
Your Valaya story reminded me of my husband saying Flowerbomb Nectar smelled like toilet bowl cleaner on me!! 😂😭 It’s one my favorite fragrances!!

I don’t have Valaya but I have Mistique Bouquet from Afnan and it is such a beautiful fragrance. Mon Blanc's signature is so beautiful it’s my bedtime scent and lasts all night I can smell it on my skin the next morning. ❤ I’m into musk clean scent lately and that just did it for me.

I have to agree with your husband, on valaya. no matter what I do or the way I wear this. it just doesn't work with me. It reminds me of a wet dog smell. I don't know why.. maybe there's something wrong with my nose, but it just does not work for me.

when they first released valaya i tried it at Nordstrom. they released it that week along with althair. Valaya was the one I liked but it only lasted like 2 hours on my hand. i feel they reformulated because it was too soft. its much stronger now..Still its not a love for me but a happy "like " (I've tried it a few times since)
I share your husband thoughts on Valaya… that’s close to how it smells to me also.
Most PDM fragrances last forever on me and I love them but Meliora was a miss for me. The performance was so so bad on me. I decluttered mine. I love Valaya though and so does everyone around me. So sorry your hubby doesn’t like it.

I sampled Valaya several months ago and it smelled like I took a shower and wasn’t wearing perfume. I want to revisit it soon
Omg my husband hates it too. I love Valaya and everyone compliments it but I’m hesitant to wear it for the same reason. What a shame😩
I had the same problem with valaya spraying it right after a shower. So weird but for me it smells so different when i sprayed it right after showering vs spraying it in the morning. When i sprayed it in the morning, without the shower, its the most beautifull airy clean perfume, and gets me the most compliments. Spraying it right after a shower its bug spray😮 if you want a more warmer scent but in the same clean musky vibe, try marc antoine barrois tilia, also very long lasting and way less harsh then valaya. Just beautifull! My husbands fave!
Valaya is amazing! but you cannot layer it with everything like certain lotions. I find that I have to wear it with unscented lotions. It gives such an addicting aura like the best skin you ever could have. The lighter fluid probably comes from layering with lotions and such

Irresistible is very powdery on my skin, especially in warm environments, in fact I put it back for fall, because that iris is starting to choke me up in late spring and summer. For me EDP is a gorgeous winter staple for every day, the rosewater shines through in the frost

I got a sample and thought I’d love it…but just didn’t. I’m not sure I would have identified it as a note of lighter fluid 😂 but I totally see that now.

I love Xerjoff’s Shunkoin, it doesn’t get enough love. Same goes for Allende from the shooting stars line.
Shunkoin definitely does not get enough love.
I purchased a bottle of cafe chantant back in January this year and I’m already half way through the bottle. It’s lovely and quite addicting! It also wears pretty light in my opinion so you can go heavy on the sprays and not choke yourself out.

Valaya is so stunning to me🤩🤩 I’m on my second bottle and it took me by surprise as I am not a fresh clean kinda girl I’m a gourmand lover my nose is definitely changing and I see that the extremely sweet perfumes I used to love are now a bit overwhelming 😮
Hufflepuff ❣❣❣💯 absolute love and addiction ❣ I have pretty good performance with this one, I do hold the nozzle closer to my skin when spraying and spray clothes too 😍 I have samples of both Valaya and Meliora , I was surprised by Meliora , really pretty might add in the future , but I can already tell the performance isn't outstanding , but Valaya is a beast performer , they are similar to my nose , I don't get lighter fluid lol by your choices it looks like you love musk 😄

Sunshine just makes me happy! I get great sillage and projection all day. In the fall/winter I lose it but it works great I’m in Texas heat and humidity.
It did seem to work really well in warm weather.
Has to be the musk in the NR Noir perfumes. I had the OG and my husband loved it lol
I love Mont Blanc Signature. I do layer it with B&BW’s Orange Vanilla Twist! I swear I love it more every time I wear it. NR Musc Noir Rose is a love, and I love Valaya and Irresistible. My husband isn’t crazy about Valaya he says formaldehyde, but he adores Givenchy Irresistible!! Great tray this past month! I wore a lot of the same!

Oh I just love musc noir rose ! Such an addictive scent for sure❤❤ sometimes I love Givenchy irresistible edp too and other times I don’t. I ended up decluttering it because of the rose in it
Sunshine woman is the only perfune by amouage I like ...iIalso get fruit like apricot, I totally agree to your description, however the performance is really bad ...:( I heard that only the versions Made in Oman perform really strong ..
Yes unfortunately Valaya smells to me like sour toilet cleaner 😔 so wierd that each person smells it differently...

It’s crazy, because Valaya puts my husband in a complete chokehold. There is no other scent that gets him as much as Valaya does!

I love Huffle puff as well but I’ve only purchased the dapper version due to reviews around performance. Looking forward to hearing if it has gotten better with time because it is one of my favorite vanillas.
My husband has a strong nose and never complains (until the Christmas Balsams come out.) He just doesn’t like pine, tree smells. I buy him the men’s version of the fragrances I buy for me. MB Signature for me and he loves the men’s version. Same for Light Blue and Good Girl/ Bad Boy. My next PDM is going to be Safanad or Athalia. Valaya is a yes for me, I like strong, sometimes labeled “strange” fragrances. I like Narciso’s Rose Musc, but ❤ the OG Musc Noir is my favorite hands down.

Sooo funny about Valaya....I have a travel size. I thought the initial smell was off putting like "almost" nauseating, almost....but I left it on anyway and it smelled much much better a few hours later in the dry down, but I will not be buying Valaya LOL. I do want to try Montblanc Signature. Sounds heavenly. I received Angelique Noire for my birthday...obsessed. I also like Shunkoin as well but not on my wish list. Another great video! Yeah, Valaya is definitely a tricky one. Unlike you, I did declutter mine around September of last year after only wearing it once because my fiancé hated it!!! As soon as I started spraying it, the face that he made said it all lol I asked him what was wrong and he said, "What did you spray?" and I asked him why? He said, "Yeah babe, I don't like that." Just like you it broke my heart cause I absolutely loved that scent. But on the other hand, I absolutely love Musc noir rose and went through that bottle within 2 months!!! I have got to get that perfume again, but this time in the biggest bottle that it comes in.
It’s difficult to enjoy a fragrance that your partner dislikes. I totally get it.

I just got a decant of Fremch Defence..for me it is woody and nearly green fragrance with only little cherry and a strong saffron note...I think I do not like it..:( so sad....I stick with Duchessa :)

Hello! I have and love Cafe Chantant and thought about picking up Shunkoin (at a great price) but I keep seeing reviews saying that they are very similar. What do you think?
Personally I find them very different. They are both powdery/vanilla but that’s about it. I get coconut, tea and woody notes in Shunkoin while cafe chantant is sour cherry and anise…. Definitely different directions.
Hi again! I was wondering how the original voce viva compares to the intense? Is it sweeter? I’m interested in the original but now I want to smell the intense lol I can’t test perfumes because I don’t live near any place that carries perfume
The OG is nice but smells idk kind of generic. The Intensa version is so pretty and has better performance.
Do you wear other fragrances during the month or just the 10 you select?
I try to stick with the 10 but will wear others if I really feel like it.

I recently ordered Sunshine Woman from Jomashop and am excited to get it. I am curious as to how long it took to get your fragrances from Benigna? I ordered two 15ml bottles on April 20th, got one update then nothing and when I tried to link the tracking it kept saying I could not. Decided to email them and did so twice before finally hearing from them, they informed me they were shipping it right then and apologized for the delay. I am very patient but was starting to think I had been scammed. Have you done much business with them?

Valaya is not a love for me either🥲 but I can't explain why I dont like it.
I ordered not too long ago a "discovery set" from Parfums de Marly and I LOVED Delina Exclusif and Oriana at first sniff, but I deeply HATED Delina and Valaya, I don't know what it is... but I feel something very unpleasant since the beginning that bothers my nose so much, I can't pinpoint it, but it's definitely there lol
