The feeling in the audience after the intermission was so abuzz and excited and then everyone left after the second half quiet and disappointed I think
@@ericmarx1288 I agree with it also for what little that's worth. I think the whole vision of this film comes together there, in a way that the first half doesn't do. Also contains the vast majority of the magical-realism-esque horror-coded sections which I feel are going to stay with me the longest from this film, to be honest.
@@Lukas_19_11the director used AI for one scene where his pronunciation of a few words didn’t sound as Hungarian as they should have and Brody had no involvement in that decision whatsoever. Instead of getting Brody to re-dub the lines for that scene to correct those words, they decided to just use AI instead.
Great video guys, more please! I loved that y'all had such different confident takes and were so respectful of each others different views. Really helped me think about the film more and on different, deeper levels. Great match of personalities here. Would really love to see y'all make more film reviews y'all do an outstanding job at it.
Raffey Cassidy played a similar dual role in Brady Corbet's previous film 'Vox Lux' as the younger version of Natalie Portman's pop star character in the first half and then as her character's daughter in the second half. I guess having seen that done again in 'The Brutalist' did not throw me off when watching it.
It is very overrated. I looked forward to watching it based on the reviews calling it a masterpiece but it is far from it. It was easily one of the most pretentious unnecessary films I have ever watched.
SPOILER: the sexual assault scene in the second half shocked me and you could feel the audience was shocked too. I agree it felt way too literal and unnecessary
Screenplay isn't good, characters are cartoonish, scenes are jumpy, too serious, self important, events takes place off scree, Guy Pearce is over the top, Brody overacts with a terrible accent. It is a student movie with 10 million budget. The whole movie is about BULDING A BUILDING. Jeez
I disagree. The Zone of interest is one of those films that no one asked for. There are so many films that pander to the events of the holocaust. This was a journey of someone post trauma. It doesn’t cheap out with trauma reminders or flashbacks. It portrays a journey of an immigrant experience. As an immigrant myself, It’s honest. It doesn’t create an Oscar bait film to force empathy for the protagonist. It realizes an immigrant’s journey into a place that will become a capitalist hell hole. Hence the trip to Italy. He had a life and an accomplished talent. He fell into a world that he never asked for. There’s no hidden meanings in this. It’s just right there. The more I watch, the more I get irritated at this video. It reflects to the film too, because I hated the ending. I believe it was intentional. The US capitalizes on stories without doing anything besides displaying them as “Monumental Historical Brilliant Work of Art!” Word salad, but no dressing.
...you have to be an adult to get this movie; there are nuanced situations you must've gone thru in life to truly relate; compromises, disappointments, bad decisions, regrets, etc that a 30-year-old or younger hasn't gone thru yet in life. We older people saw a very different movie; many "ah-ha" moments......second part just as engrossing as the first, because that's how life works.............
When i found out it wasn't based on a true story I felt like it was a giant waste of time it's like a weird time from the Palestinian perspective to have the holocaust story brought back up again. Hollywood does that occasionally and I don't like how manipulative it is to get people sympathetic towards the Jewish plight If you're going to make a pro-immigrant story there are others to choose from that are more recent than the 50's and 60's and 70's. Geez.
I think the intermission throws people off on how they view the movie. People are not used to intermissions and I think people looked at it as 2 different movies not a single flowing one.
The feeling in the audience after the intermission was so abuzz and excited and then everyone left after the second half quiet and disappointed I think
Yup
completely disagree, think second half is as good if not better
@@bbash578 that’s a crazy take that pretty much nobody else has but respect ig lol
@@ericmarx1288 no, second half is the best part and the film doesn’t work without it

After seeing this, there's no way Brody can't win Actor. He is PHENOMENAL. Best of the year by a country mile
Well, turns out it was AI

@ it was a joke
the best film of the year.
The second half is intentionally more literal and crude with it's metaphors I'd say and the epilogue nails it
seeing this in an hour!!! bookmarked this vid

Agree that it felt like the 1950s timeline was not cut off at the right spot
The second half was a total turnoff - at intermission it seemed like people liked it - but afterward everyone was exhausted and most did not like it
I feel like if you have to watch a 3 hour movie 2 times to understand its premise, I dont think it is a masterpiece.

The best film of 2024. Adrien Brody deserves the Academy Award for his performance. It’s truly astonishing. accolades he can get for the role.
Short answer: Yes.
SPOILER: the sexual assault scene in the second half shocked me and you could feel the audience was shocked too. I agree it felt way too literal and unnecessary
If you're not going to put enough spoiler space, people are going to see the very spoiler you're trying not to spoil.
please edit this comment and put space like the other person said literally it's not available for most of us to see.
Def can’t say best if the year cause of the last 1/3 but man the first 2/3 was awesome
Saw this last night, it was pretty cool
I was very disappointed by this film.
Why?
They talk about moving back to Israel when Felicity is in the hospital
So what happened to Guy Pearce’s character??

Couldn't of said it better myself. I am amazed this is getting such a positive reception.

I wonder why a fictional biopic like this is so serios. You look at Cobet's interview, he is aggressive, full himself , then you know why
I wonder how good is Conclave?
Conclave is more enjoyable than this film. This one is a strong film but not as enjoyable.
conclave is fab if you compare it to ths film.
Thank you for replies. I will check it out.
I loved Conclave
in short.... yes it is overrated and hyped by the Hollywood machine for obvious reasons

Best movie of the year imo (with Nickel Boys as a close second). I actually think the second half is better than the first
Yes overrated 💯
Just watched it. Loved it. It’s like Oppenheimer but more engaging and more entertaining
