jim Henson moved his mouth while in interview.... go watch some online and you will be focused on Kermit or Rowlf or whatever puppet is talking and you forget about Jim Henson and his moving lips..........If you can do your job right the puppet will gain a life of its own and no one will see you unless you"your voice" is talking

Are you referring to arm rods?
Your right hand does the puppets mouth and your left hand uses the rod to move the puppets left hand

The arm rod is used to gesture while talking and it adds more life movement to the puppet.

Usually for younger kids imagination can cover the fact that the month isn't moving. Usually I do more sounds and movements to communicate though
