Hi again, Jonathan. Nightwish Army subscriber here for you. Considering that Martine is a fan of your compositions, I thought I would drop and check it out. What a nice, moody feel to this little piece. Well done. I will be checking out more of your stuff.

Thank you so much for checking out the piece and for the very kind comment! I will advise that my earlier material (from 2011) is not of great quality, as it was at the very beginning of my self taught audio engineering journey and I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, and very limited resources. Some decent ideas, but leaves a lot to be desired as far as production, but hey, we all have to start somewhere lol.
Anyways, I apologize for my long winded thank you, but I do appreciate you taking the time and chance on some of my work! Have a fantastic day!

Not at all what I was expecting......this could be used as incidental music in a TV series or film. Very interesting Jonathon . I liked it a lot.

Travelled here from your excellent Genesis reviews. Wonderfully avant grade and perfect for him and television. Well done!

In some ways kinda reminiscent of Stewart Copeland's The Equalizer and Other Cliffhangers - one of my go-to albums! 🙂

Thanks for checking it out! I've never heard that Copeland project before, but I freaking love Stewart Copeland so I'll have to check that out at some point for sure!

It was fun to try and pick out the individual notes on the keyboard crashes. They extend outside the double-harmonic structure, right?
    Good fun.
From listening to your other track (Eastern Seas), I would think you'd be a match for a 3 or 4 manual pipe organ (one with a large array of horn and reed stops). It would provide you a very interesting path to the symphonic style of writing.
... or not. That format is a bit limited (usually by its existing proponents.)

Thank you so much for checking out this track! But actually, I don't believe it does veer outside of the C double harmonic major scale (C, Db, E, F, G, Ab, and B). Are there notes you're interpreting outside of that scale set? Now Eastern Seas on the other hand, does have an intentional turnaround where it briefly modulates outside of the A# harmonic major scale for a progressive ascension, but then mods right back into A# harmonic major. Interestingly enough, I have begun just lightly experimenting and jamming around with some of the organ sounds I have available to me and it is a very inspiring tonality to work with; that definitely might be a road worth venturing down. Thank you so much again, and have a happy new year!

@@JonathonThamesMusic Just a couple suggestions, if I may : when using pipe organ stops in the digital realm, you can do a few 'novel' things that don't find their way onto the regular AGO organs ... I mean, the Bordun, Krummhorn double bassoon and other oddball stops ARE fun, but you can try substituting some stops as the 'chiff' (the 'puff of air' at the heard at the beginning of each note that goes through a pipe chest) ... adding the double bassoon as chiff to the 16 or 32 foot Bordun or Bombarda can give you an explosive entrance... just alter the sample-mapping a bit to change the identity of the chiff. Likewise, a chorusing 16 or 32 foot reed is something to be impressed by.. just make sure your speakers can handle sub-20 Hz, high amplitude excursions. (former EE, worked at a pipe organ mfgr for a year.. fun stuff to play with).
