    REALLY nice seeing some VFX tuts. I hang out on the discord server and did some LIDAR scan tests, imported cam tracking from fusion and imported into embergen. SO glad to see all the amazing improvements for the VFX minded, since the beta last year. just really really promising. my 3090 is smoking scenes like nobody's business ha ha!! great tut!

  • @Carolina-mw4po
    @Carolina-mw4po 9 месяцев назад +1

    It's overall amazing! But at the end, the fire is popping up of the scene. May be it'd be needed a bit of desaturation or a greenish tint that sunk the fire in the space of the footage. Some z depth adjustment.
    It's good noting that despite the two flames (real vs Embergen) really match eachother in an isolated shot, that same flame is not matching exactly well the scene.
    Sometimes it's needed to "lie" the real, in order the results to be more "realistic" (more credible, plausible, expected)
    A paradox may be, but it happens all the time in paintings and any art that emulates the real thing, cgi included.

    Hey Janga team I was hoping you could shed some light on where the value of x3.7 (09:19)for the retime comes from? Thanks!

    • @jangafx
      @jangafx  3 года назад

      I believe that Daniel had figured that out through his own test comparisons against the real fire he recorded. His other methods of retiming are probably more applicable at a wider scale.

    Dumb question. How moving your imported meshes to get into the voxel box does not make it goes out of sync with the imported camera/footage ? Update : Nevermind, now i see you exported the Mesh along with the camera and Embergen recognice both in separate. Interesting.

    What's the best method for using in games? Just bake to transparent texture for mapping on a plane, or are there some kind of volumes we can use in games (like volume texture sequence or something)? thanks

    • @jangafx
      @jangafx  2 года назад +2

      Even today, best to just bake to a flipbook (transparent texture/ sprite sheet) and put it on a sprite in game. There are some tricks you can use with depth in your shaders etc to get more realistic depth on something like a torch. Putting it on a sprite will help you make it responsive to moving around in game too as you can shear the sprite vertices to make more dynamic looking fire.

    Very useful tutorial!! thanks a lot . However I have a problem I can't seem to have flames already present when I export from frame 0 like in your tutorial. In the export node I have to start the first frame at 50 until the flames appear but the problem is that my camera tracking is shifted. Could you help me please?Thanks

    • @danielvanderkaaden8502
      @danielvanderkaaden8502 2 года назад +1

      Hi,
      sadly I'm seeing this comment just now. But in the global transform tab of our Import node, you can set a Time Offset. This way your fbx can start later so the simulation has some start up time for your flames to rise. Note that this parameter is in seconds based on the timestep.
