My partner and I were 11 years apart, and we were together for 34 years until his passing in 2020. The age gap wasn't ever an issue for us, our families, or our friends. The heart wants, what the heart wants. He was the love of my life, and I was lucky/blessed to have met him. If I were to give you any (unsolicited) advice... it would be, always be honest, and never be cruel. That always worked for us.
11 years really isn't that bad though. There's is double that. It just doesn't seem right seeing them together

My partner and I have a 31 year age gap! He's 68 and I'm 37. We've been together for 12 years and still going strong. Family and friends may disagree with the big age gap, but as long as you're happy and in love, that's all that matters to me!
My BF and I were 28 years apart in age. We met one day before his 60th birthday and were together for 7 years. He passed away just before this last Christmas. I don't regret a single minute we were together. He was a wonderful man, and was the love of my life.

@@ShaftCommander Actually, not at all. We weren't able to travel for almost two years because of covid and the entire time we were as strong as ever. Found new things to do together in the meantime. We got really into baking and latte making. Now we make each other's coffee perfectly every time. :)

My favorite "father and son" story was that we happened to go to a restaurant on Father's Day that had an official Father's Day photographer. She asked us if we wanted a picture. Great hearing from two people who are so happy in their love for each other and who also protect their life together from too pointed questions.
Just go for it, I have followed Stan for years and I am so happy for both of you. My husband was 21 years younger, and we had a great life. He passed away in 2017 when he was 50 year old.
That really puts things into perspective. I'd be worried if I had an older partner that he'd pass away before me.
I have the Lazarus gene and a family history of fatal heart attacks, so I can't determine how long I have to live if a psychic told me I'd die of natural causes. I could die at 60 from a heart attack or 120 from old age, lol.
@Devin W unfortunately, that's always a possibility considering the gap. The best you can do is don't eat like me (lol), exercise, and keep your body feeling young. You don't want to complicate diseases.
Unfortunately again, some diseases cannot be excercised off. Cancer is still very common. My biological father died at 70 due to an unknown kind of cancer. Also, males tend to live 30 years shorter in average than females. Both my grandma's died in their 90s. It always amazes to see a human that has lived 117 years on earth.
50 is kind of young to die, but is not a shock at all. People have died earlier due to complications, especially heart conditions. Heart conditions are no joke. Buy like i said, the best you can do is love yourself literally and physically. While there may always be the root disease that takes over the body so the immune system cannot defend itself, the best thing you can do is fight back before the inevitable happens. Everyone will die someday. You just have to try your best.

I am 54 and my boyfriend is 37. Sorry to be a downer but my mom passed away Sunday morning. My mom didn’t care and toward the end of her life she was totally oblivious, but I always tried to tone things down between my boyfriend and me in front of her. Now that she is gone I find myself a lot less anxious of pda in public. In fact naturally I reach out to him without a care in the world. And that is a wonderful feeling and quite a gift from her.

My husband was 22 and I was 44 when we started dating. And, we dealt with many of the same questions and concerns. The one that was the most ridiculous for us was the money issue. I was a social worker, and he was a database programmer. He made about twice what I did.

We have lived all over the country, and traveled the country with the kids, now grown with kids...... 22 years between us. He keeps me younger for sure. All about love. And, working together to make this amazing life we have had..... with lots of rough spots, as we all do. Love grows deeper when you really connect with someone that you have so much in common with.
