I had a 2000 Impala L's that I bought in 2007 for $1700. It had 206,000 and were highway miles. The only major repairs were intake gaskets, torque converter and a few wheel bearings. Five years ago I junked it cause the rust took its toll on the body. It had 308,000 and still ran great when I junked it. Now I have a 2006 HHR with 343,000, a 2009 Saturn Aura with 274,000 and a 2013 Impala with 267,000. All still run good.

The 2006 Camry, much like your number 1 pick is sure to last over 300k. Mine was at 283k when it was technically totaled in an accident. (Other driver fault). Insurance would not fix. Replaced with 2009 Camry which is junk due to oil consumption problem which local dealers refuse to fix. Miss my 2006.

2001 Ford Windstar I purchased it used in 2002 with 42,000 miles on it. Today, although she's showing her age on the interior, it still has the original 3.8 V6 motor and transmission, and is now at 305,000 miles and still going. Over the 17 years I've owned it, I have gone through 3 AC compressors, 2 water pumps, 2 electric window motors, 1 fuel pump, 1 alternator, and at about 260,000 miles I had to replace the front and rear engine seals. I paused over continuing when faced with having to replace those engine seals, but that cost has easily paid for itself already.

You're right on bro, and I'm glad I subscribed to your channel. I've been driving the secong generation (2004-2009)Toyota Prius since 2010. I buy them at auctions and tend to get them with very high mileage for less, usually over 200k miles. I bought a 2007 one with 289k miles. I drove it till it reached 368k and got rid of it. Bought another one with 220k miles for my wife and now it at over 260k miles. In 2007, I bought a 1999 Lincoln Towncar with 305k miles on it. That thing drove like new till it couldn't anymore at 372k miles. A good tip is to buy car models that police drive or cab cars, like ford crown victoria, mercury grand marquis, lincoln towncar, toyota prius and so on. They're out there for a reason: Reliability.

None of them had engine issues besides my 07 jeep with 3. 7 with 380k miles and blew because belt broke on high way and I was flooring it and never notice thus blowing it. Hi there, I love your channel. I live in Croatia and I only drives Honda for more than 20 years, I do not look other companies (Ford, VW, Opel, BMW, Mercedes, Fiat , Kia, etc....), Only Honda.
I have HONDA ACCORD from 2003 (same body as ACURA TSX from 2004-2008, only the engine in mine is 4-cylnder 2.0liter 155HP, ), car also have installed LPG from 2007, complete AERO KIT, lower springs, 17" rims (original Honda). My wife drives car every single day only city driving, I drive it at weekends and I have no problems with a car, and she LOVE our Honda ACCORD. Now our Accord have 264.000km (164.041miles) and works like a clock. Car have 5 speed manual. For this 16 years I changed VTEC ACUTATOR (5min job), costs only 50USD on ebay, one ignition coil (new one is very cheap also here in Croatia, approx. 20-25USD for new one, not used). I also changed rotors (discs), pads, clutch at 220.000km but that all is just a maintenance, no big deal. Everything else on a car is still original any everything is working : ABS, central locking, all electric windows, ligths (HID), climate (dual zone), etc..... I have look at new CIVIC at HONDA dealer with 1.0 engine, but I'm not sure if I will buy one, even if it have all modern technology (HONDA SENSING, cameras, radars ), but this is all same Chinese cheap electronics. HONDA, KIA,MERCEDES etc... I think that they all have same components from suppliers for this cameras, radars etc.... My Accord is very cheap to maintain and I think I will stick to my old ACCORD, 'cause here in Croatia my wife and I maybe drive 10-15.000km per year. I just order from ebay 10.1" android navi, and this unit have all the features as new car even more , and also order from ebay TPMS bluetooth sensors and when everything arrives I will have : Latest modern GPS navi, MIRROR LINK for my smartphone, reversing camera, tyre presuure monitoring system (TPMS), OBD2 monitor system and all modern things like cars today have, and I will also order reversing mirror HD camera that have lane departure monitor system and I will have my 16 year old ACCORD like a new car for only 200USD. For the end, I also looking Scotty Kilmer channel every single day, and I'm the same as Scotty Kilmer. I'm cheap, I do not want repair car often , and I want it to run and never break down and if I have to repair something I want that part is cheap, like I mention before VTEC acutator that I replaced before 8 months, last for 16 years, so that new one will also last next 16 years and it only cost 50USD (new OEM). That is that I love my Honda ACCORD and HONDA engines in total, also I have scooter KYMCO GRAND DINK (GRAD VISTA in USA) form 2005 , I drive it every single day (dray, rain, no matter) and I did not know that this KYMCO have HONDA JAZZ engine and I never service it, it just runs, and runs, and runs, and runs. I even do not change the oil. My scooter now have 37.000km and runs like a clock.

Another great video Bill. My 2004 TC has 190K, wanting to get 200+K. However, you failed to mention the two design flaws with owning a TC.
    1) The intake manifold gasket is plastic and typically goes out by 150k miles. Not the cheapest repair and needs to be taken care of early.
    2) Air ride suspension. Whike this is one of the reasons I enjoy the TC, it levels the cat when transporting bodies in the trunk (joke!). But seriously, these only last about 110-120k Mike's before needing to be replaced. Many convert over to springs (less expense).
Other than my front end suspension needing replacement($1600) and cancer starting on the right rear Qtr panel, the only other issue was the right rear wheel seal that was leaking. Fortunately I caught it in time and mo damage to the bearing.
As of now, I am looking at 2012 Toyota Avalons to replace it. That venerable 3.5L V6, with the Asin tranny is bulletproof; and a less expensive option and much better deal than the Lexus ES350.
One last comment on the list. Tge Corolla COULD. be rated higher, but Ivsusoect that since younger drivers buy them, rmthey are not as diligent onmaintenance, otherwise they will outlast the Accord (great engines, crap trannys made by JATCO).
Really enjoy your vids and keep up the good work!!

Hi Robert, I just picked up an 05 TC a month ago with 75k. It's not a plastic intake gasket. It was that the entire intake was plastic including the plastic coolant crossover pipe for the thermostat that would crack. A friend with a 98 TC used JB Weld on his and it worked! lol.
My 05 has the updated intake with the aluminum cross over. I'm sure your 04 also has the upgraded intake. It's very easy to see if you do. Follow your upper radiator hose to where it connects to the engine. That's where the thermostat is and that should be a metal housing and crossover. I think they started in 01, not sure. And for the air ride suspension, you can buy a pair for less than $100 and an hour of your time if you're able to do it yourself. Guessing from the cost of your front suspension you aren't a DIY guy. Your mechanic shouldn't charge too much for installing new air springs for you and you get to keep the ride the car was meant to have. My biggest concern living in the North East is rust. Mine has very little rust in just the back end of the passenger rocker panel. I don't think the previous owners, typically older folks, drove in the snow much. I've fully treated inside the rocker panels, inside and outside the frame, and inside the fender wells, and any where else that is a rust magnet that I could spray fluid film into. Only paid $5k for the car and hope to put another 200k on it. I'm a very much DIY guy and parts are cheap so I can keep this car going.

My dad has a 2002 chevrolet suburban with 330k miles. The main problem with it is that the battery is getting leached by the electrical system, so the battery will be completely dead if the truck sits longer than a day. I have a 2005 Toyota Matrix FWD base w about 360,000 miles. Love this car, so wish they still made them! Not sure what to buy when I need a new car. Don’t want a CVT trans, don’t want the expense of 4WD either. Live in Maine but use snow tires. Like riding higher but not sure if I’m ready to go as big as a RAV 4, don’t like the CHR, like the Honda HRV but has a CVT. Like the new Mazda xc-30 but brand new 2020, should wait til its been out for a while.

Highly regret getting rid of my old Crown Vic. I had 150K on it, was always extremely well maintained and had at least that much more miles to go. And yes, it literally was a comfortable as sitting on a couch. I have never been in another car that matched the comfort level. If I could find a good deal I'd get a Lincoln Town Car this time around.

My daughter's 1995 Mercury Villager has over 355,000 miles. Its only semi-major repair has been it needed a new shift solenoid pack, requiring removal of the transmission valve body to perform this repair. I think this was at about 320,000 miles, and I did it myself. Its still going, though it could use a new power steering pump and/or rack, which has leaked and been troublesome for several years.

I had Avalon 1998 bought as certified at 30000 miles in 2001 (for 180000 $). Had 290000 miles and engine still running strong with just regular maintenance in 2011 when I traded for fully loaded Lexus LS 430 2005 including navigation, Mark Levinson speakers (which suck I think as my subwoofer wasn't good - paid 19000 $ for LS430 of which got 1200 trade in for my Avalon) Got LS430 2005 at 68000 miles and traded for fully loaded LS 430 2004 in 2018 again with navigation, same poor Mark Levinson subwoofer ( for 5000$ trade in) when it had 210000 miles and running great with no repairs except basic maintenance.
Currently driving the 2004 LS 430 (bought at 86000 miles & now at 107200 miles in less than 10 months just with regular factory recommended maintenance). Runs like a beauty if you have driven older LS. 2006 to 2016 LS, I would not recommend.
All the above cars were extremely reliable for me.
All cars I bought were dealer maintained with single owners and had no issues when records checked with any engine problems, accidents, etc. Just had regular maintenance on their history.
You gotta be patient and keep looking regularly till you get one. Wait patiently and you will get one !! That is the important key to look at when buying a used vehicle I think.

I received my 1998 Honda Civic Coup DX with 160K from my brother for free. Never put a cent into it except oil (1.6 ltr engine) The Blend Door ACTUATOR must be replaced ($60.00), but its my summer car. There is a faint "swooshing" noise near rt. rear brake, but brake shoes and drums look good so it remains a mystery. I also got my 2003 Saturn Ion for free. I replaced the plastic manufacturer's Windshield Washer Transmission replaced. I found a steal one on Amazon and the Ignition Control Module (2.2 Ecotec engine) for $50.00 from a junk yard off Pontiac Grand Am, I think. Both car are good for me and I expect to get 300 miles out of both. The engine coolant sensor is not hooked up to coolant tank (jumped sensor with paper clip. Coolant light went out) because I think the sensor in the tank is broken. I have no problems with overheating.
