- I'm not that familiar with this show (except for a few songs) even though I had this video for quite a long time now. Here's a beautiful song from the show sung by Patti Cohenour. The video quality is amazing for its age but the audio is a bit low so I included the lyrics below:
Between the very dead of night and day
Upon a steely sheet of light, I'll lay
And in the moonfall I'll give myself to you
I'll bathe in moonfall and dress myself in dew
Before the cloak of night reveals the morn
Time holds its breath while it conceals the dawn
And in the moonfall, all sound is frozen still
Yet warm against me, your skin will warm the chill
Of moonfall, I feel its fingers
Lingers the veil of nightshade
Light made from stars that all too soon fall
Moonfall that pours from you
Betwixt our hearts, let nothing intervene
Between our eyes, the only sight I've seen
Is lust'rous moonfall as it blinds my view
So that soon I only see but you
Has there ever been a more hauntingly beautiful song written than this?
Such a privilege to call her my friend. Such a spectacular voice!
Patti Cohenour has one of the purest soprano voices I've heard outside of an opera house. Everything about this video is beautiful. She is also sublime on the cast album of one of my all-time favorite musicals, BIG RIVER.
Did you know she sang Moonfall in one take for the cast album?
Sublime. She was by far the best thing about the rather patchy cast of the West End production.
I'm such a fan. She is amazing
Patti is astounding and the song, everything. thank you.
Her performance of this on the OBC recording is one of the greatest of all time.
Thanks for this - I worked on the West End production with Patti and she was great!
@Robert Lee, Countertenor oh no, what happened to her with Phantom?
she is just perfection on this song.
sheer beauty
POST MORE PLEASE!
Oh my gosh, she does a beautiful job here! Do you think you could post 'The Name of Love'? I've been dying to see the original cast perform it!
Is that Howard McGillin playing the "piano"?
Yes. he was amazing in the role.
