    Hey Toby. I sold all my stocks and re-bought them today but now in an ISA (Trading 212). It was nerve wracking but got it done, oh and made a little 2% return too 🤣.
    I used Vanguard last tax year but now I can purchase Etfs as well as personal stock picks.

    Great vid Toby. I've opted to stick with Trading 212 as my sole S&S ISA and will continue to pay into it this tax year.
    I've taken a similar approach to you in allocating most to index ETFs [personally opted for iShares MSCI World (90%) + iShares emerging markets (10%)], with the remainder allocated to dabbling in some UK dividend stocks & US growth stocks.

    I think everyone should be considering LISA accounts instead of SIPPs and even some S&S ISAs. Yes your annual contribution is capped at £4,000 however its incredibly low risk and your guaranteed a 25% return annually, which is significantly higher than any other investment ISA out there.

    • @mikeroyce8926
      @mikeroyce8926 Год назад +1

      NOT everyone can invest in a LISA - some of us are older than 39. AJ Bell and Moneybox offer Stocks and Shares LISAs.

    • @catbrook
      @catbrook Год назад

      I'm considering removing money from my LISA and putting it in a SS ISA instead.
      The 25% seems great but it only applies to £4,000 new investment per annum and then the money trundles away for years at a modest interest rate. From age 50 you can't put anything else in it so it just sits there for 10 years getting a rate of interest that is likely lower than a cash ISA. And you don't have any leverage power to get a better interest rate because once you hit 40 you are stuck with your current provider (I'm stuck with 2.75%)
      The stock market is riskier but over the long time period you're looking at with a retirement investment it will likely outperform that significantly, even taking into account the £1000 a year the gov gave you for your £4000.

      Spotted your comment and thought I'd reply! I opened a LISA with Hargreaves & Lansdown in March and they dropped their fee from 0.45% to 0.25% shortly after I opened. I'm investing in a cheap global fund with a very low fee (0.08%) and will continue trying to max out the £4k limit each year. I'd consider HL given that they're an established FTSE 100 company with a nice app & website!

Im still pondering on whether to commit to another year with IE, not so much that I dont want to but just I hate how we dont just have the freedom to just have the 20k allowance in total and be able to use it on more than one place...anyway, I actually went for the same VG ETFs as I share your interest in them but Im a bit surprised you didnt pick Asia/Japan regional ETFs for VG as well? Maybe the emerging markets cover at least some of it but it might still be a slight diversification hole in there.

      @@notus8212 I'm with Alan H on this. You said you want to gradually increase your profits. That ain't crypto!
      For gradual increases that beat inflation over time, index tracker funds have been proven time and time again to be the best way to achieve this.
      And I would go for global diversification.
      My own fund is 75% Developed World tracker, 15% Emerging Markets, 10% Global Bonds. This means my equity exposure is 50% USA, 15% Europe, 12% Asia, 10% Emerging Markets, 3% Rest of World. Then I have the 10% in bonds as well.
      Over time (and you have lots of time), if you're able to put in just $50 a month (which will increase as you earn more money over the years), you'll be in a very good place when you reach a certain age...
      If you want to have a play with crypto, sure, why not. But understand that crypto is highly volatile and this should be a very small percentage of your wealth, and understand that you could easily lose it all.

Go for a fund that is diversified across different sectors, such as technology, industrial, financial etc… 3. Go for a passive index tracker fund that mirrors the market. Then leave it alone for years.
      I’m not a financial advisor and so I can’t recommend any funds, but I can tell you that as a beginner, Vanguard’s Life Strategy fund would be a sensible option. You can decide your own level of risk and go 100% stocks, 80/20 stocks/bonds, 60/40 and so on. Which to choose depends on how long you’re gonna leave it alone for. The longer you leave it alone, the higher % equity…

    Hi Toby, I'm a recent subscriber to your channel and I am really enjoying your content. I do follow a few other financial You Tubers, and they all pretty much say the same as you, i.e. keep it simple with passive funds. I have a Moneyfarm account (ISA and GIA), a T212 account (VUSA and TSLA), a Vanguard account (Lifestrategy 100) and 2 pensions (work and personal). I would like simplify everything so I am thinking about moving my ISA and GIAs from Moneyfarm and Vanguard to T212 ( invested in VWRP). Then, when I take early retirement (hopefully next year), I want to move my pension to one simple platform (probably Vanguard) also invested in VWRP, with a drawdown strategy that has 3 years of living expenses in a cash (in case of market downturns) and all my other investments in stock. Do you think I am over simplifying? Do you think putting everything bar pension in T212 a bit risky?

    • @TobyNewbatt
      @TobyNewbatt  Год назад +1

      Hey Ian, couple of things, VWRP is not available on Vanguards website directly but you could use the FTSE Global All Cap Mutual funds instead as an idea.
      In terms of risk, only you can answer this question, the fact you are considering it might suggest the need to diversify providers a bit but otherwise I like your simplified plan, and having 3 years of cash is extremely sensible and will no doubt save you a huge amount of stress!
