Funny that people were saying how terrible Erith is for young people in the 60s, let alone 2016.

Friday Hill and the PomPom! Not sure they are still called that? I know vaguely where the Pom Pom but came from but not why Friday Hill was so-called loosely.

The pom pom was the pub called the nordenfeldt ...the nordrnfeldt gun made the noise "pom pom" when it was shooting at the enemy ...erith used to be alright like most places that have been ruined....its called progress apparently

Yep, remember the bit about ‘pom pom’ and the pub but never really knew why locals said ‘Friday Hill’ ...sad when everything changes but that’s life. Thank you 😊

If I say Pom-Pom to taxi drivers they usually still know where I mean even now.

Yes the ‘Pom-pom’ name seems to have survived but not sure about ‘FridayHill’ which was nickname for Erith Road

Erith + Crayford are nowhere near London-they are in Kent!
Wanna go London mate go to Blackheath, Lewisham, Plumstead, Woolwich...etc

@@billyf3714 Wrong Billy boy, Wrong, even Sadiq Khan said: Bexleyheath is a LB within Kent!
They have been part of the LB assembly as well as Kent since 1965!
Crayford is DA1 because it is a LB within Kent + is on the Kent map as such as shops like Kent Tiles etc.....
Also For example not just postcode but Danson Park is also partly run on behalf of KCC. + still have signs everywhere it is in Kent like newsagents/shops!
Along with other parks like: Swanley Town Council runs St Mary’s Recreation Ground in Bexley because it is in Kent.
Also attractions like: Chislehurst Caves, on leaflets/ website does say in Kent and they are also is a member of the: Association Of Tourist Attractions In Kent Limited!

@@billyf3714 Dear oh dear Billy, Sadiq Khan didn't just say it but in parliament itself!
+ it is up for debate, they did the same couple of months ago with Havering in Essex and some MPs said it was a LB within Essex and others said just Essex.
Lewisham/Greenwich were Kent a very, very long time ago and been changed on the map as well as postcode etc....
No postcode is proof of where you live/as well as the mail situation!
Yea I know about that, but even Dartford Council said that makes no sense whatsoever.
We had a work meeting the other day and it came up and the mayor said: There are 13 electoral wards in the DA1 postcode area, including Belvedere, Bexley, Bexleyheath, Dartford, Erith, Gravesend, Greenhithe, Longfield, Sidcup, Swanscombe, Welling which come under the local authority of the Dartford Council.
Again I did say they did run it on behalf of KCC and that is because they are in Kent same as Swanley Town Council, KCC + Sevenoaks with St Mary's Recreation Ground in Bexley they are all different councils.
KCC obviously doesn't cover the whole of the county!
I'm in these meetings a lot!
So no London in there, no Abbey Wood, Plumstead, Woolwich, Lewisham, Catford etc.....
Again wrong, when we have our work meetings we only do it via historic towns/cities in Kent + via postcode + have met all the mayors!
This week we have meetings in Dartford, Swanley, Maidstone, + Canterbury!
Also watched an episode of: Antiques Roadshow the other week and they said today we are in Sidcup in Kent and a very short commute to London!
It is both a LB within Kent. Also when the now Thai restaurant was: The Laughing Buddha in Bexleyheath that won loads of awards esp a dozen of best in Kent awards!
