    Nana Mizuki is a veteran in the Magical Girl series. Her first role as voicing a Magical Girl was Fate Testarossa from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. She also sang the opening of the first season of Nanoha.

    Wow, thank you for a great 1st ep reaction, also rare to see someone check out the cast members and production staff of an anime they watch, shows a deeper interest in getting to know the show more! By the way, hope Macross Frontier can be a contender for the next music anime, its also produced by the same studio: Satelight and mainly composed by Cowboy Bebop's composer Kanno Yoko. By the way the song played in the credits was sung by Mizuki Nana. If you like her songs, do check out Nanoha series.

    The most anime of animes has arrived. Season 1 of symphogear will always stand out to me. Not only did it set the stage for what Symphogear would become, but it also sets itself apart from the series it created. Symphogear season 1 had a lot of challenges. Not only did it work hard to hook its audience by episode 1, but it also needed to give us a self contained story that could be built upon. The staff had no guarantee that they’d get a second season so when writing this first season they wrote it in a way where the story is cohesive but also has in a way to add more to it with more seasons. So with five seasons under its belt, every little thing matters in symphogear.
    Now onto my premium knowledge. I say this everytime i try and sell symphogear, it’s cast is insanely stacked. Being one of the most impactful roles in her career, Hibiki Tachibana has been a big role for her seiyuu Aoi Yuuki. Not only giving her a lead role but also being an outlet to her music career as at the time she hadn’t debuted as a solo artist. Since this season Aoi Yuuki has made waves voicing both Madoka Kaname from Madoka Mágica, and Tsuyu Asui from My Hero Academia. This series also proved to be an impactful role for veteran voice actress Nana Mizuki, voicing the sword herself, and the remaining half of Zwei Wing, Tsubasa Kazanari. At this point if you don’t know who Nana Mizuki is you live under a rock. Nana provides not only her voice for Tsubasa and her songs, but also provided all the openings and non character inserts to the series. And finally there’s the voice behind Zwei Wings other member, Kanade Amou, voiced by another veteran va, Minami Takayama. I might have stretched the truth a little when I said she was an important character back when Light popped up in zLS Revenge. Kanade is crucial, but her role is more about the impact she left. And boy did she leave an impact. Minami’s voice work on Kanade changed the way this show was directed.
    When the show was originally created, the directors envisions the songs to to be more background inserts much like Revue Starlight did. Minami’s take Kanade’s song,
    Kimi to Iu Oto Kanade Tsukiru Made, was too good of a performance. Instead of singing it, Minami actually acted out what it would sound like if her character was singing while fighting. And thus the characters now real time sing their songs, having grunts and actual voice inflections depending on the actions on screen. As such Symphogear is peak. Cannot wait for this series to steal your heart

    Symphogear is a great anime series. I’m glad it finally won the poll. Honestly, I’m just grateful for any music anime that wins since I’ve already watched all the ones you’ve covered on this channel. Still hoping World Dai Star can make it into the next poll and win. Like I said before, it’s similar to Revue Starlight-a theater drama with a mind-blowing plot twist.

    Fun fact about Kanade's VA Minami Takayama: she is also the VA for Conan from Detective Conan, and she was also the vocalist of the group Two-Mix that gave us the legendary songs from Gundam Wing such as Just Communication, Rhythm Emotion and White Reflection.
    Also Hibiki's VA Aoi Yuuki also the same VA as Madoka.

    Here it is!!!
    One thing i wanna say is that, just like with Madoka Magica, you have to keep small details in mind....through all 5 seasons :P
    I love this first episode because it already sets the stakes of how far they are willing to go. Killing of our characters? Sure, we can do that. Childhood trauma? No problem! That Hibiki horrifying transformation in the end? Yeah...this anime is way darker than your average music anime. Also, this show is super gay (Like super SUPER gay X3), especially Miku and Hibiki's relationship, it is probably one of the most gay relationships in the entire series. Like, what is more gay, being gay, or whatever those two have going on.
    Pay close attention to the lyrics and music style of ALL the battle songs. Also, i think you CAN start watching the opening the second episode each season (Or the third) since, while they ARE somewhat spoilery, many of the battles and stuff that shows in the opening either don't even happen or have already been set up on the first episode and the most spoilery parts are episode locked (Meaning that they start showing AFTER a certain episode). I'd say an exception is last season's opening and even then, it is only one small part that spoils something.
    Also, pay attention to the names of the attacks since each character has a different naming pattern...just a small detail that's fun to keep an eye on.
    I don't want to explain the timeline much, so all i'll say is this: Remember the picture in the grave!!!
    Anyways, i will be saying my favourite ships as they appear because it is fun:
    -HibiMiku (Best ship right here)
    -KanadeTsubasa (RIP)
    Also, you better get used to cliffhangers, because Symphogear is REALLY good at them.

    Symphogear is very dark, and very action, and very cute at the same time. It's basically born form the will of Nana, so expect a LOT of songs - starting from the fact that their superpowers are song-powered.
    It's a very peculiar and modern take on mahou shoujo, but the first season is a little different from the others, they where still finding the direction to follow in the following seasons (and yes, the start is very influenced by Madoka).
    For the timeline:
    Start - around 1 year after present
    Concert and Hibiki wounded - 2 years before present.
    "Back to the present" - back to present timeline, after Hibiki survived the Noise incident (and she was in hospital a long time).

    > reminds you of madoka
    Hibiki and Madoka have the same VA, Aoi Yuki.
    > the fuck do you mean end of the episode
    Oh. Get used to it. Gear is so bingeable.
    Also best in your recordings if you sit down to do 11/12/13 at once. They are kinda always continuations in kinda a bit of a big finale.

    The opening subtitles translate the title to "The Superb Songs of the Valkyries," but that's rather off for me.
    While 絶唱 (zesshou) does mean "superb song," 戦姫 (senki) does not necessarily translate to Valkyrie (that would be 戦乙女/ikusa otome, which means "battle maiden"); senki would be more correctly translated to "battle princess."
    One of the earlier subtitles translated zesshou as "swan song," which is the song a swan lets out as it dies. Giving the context in which the technique zesshou is used, it does make sense, however no research I have made indicates this would be a correct translation, as fitting as it is.
    Therefore, the correct translation for the title would be "The Superb Song of the Battle Princesses - Symphogear"

    Ah, another person has finally come around to this show. And your initial impressions seem solid enough that I will likely stick around for this.
    There is nothing I can say that your followers haven't already said though. This is one of those shows that most people either love, or hate. There really is no in between. This franchise doesn't pretend to be overly deep or complex, but it excels at the things it strives for. Yes, this show has 5 seasons. Seasons 1, 2 and 3 each were created under the idea that it wasn't going to get a sequel so the endings for each are viable as stopping points. However then when season 4 got the green light, so did season 5.
    One thing you'll notice is that the animation budget increases with each season. The difference between season 1 and 2 is night and day.
    I'd like to sound off on my favorite character, but she won't appear until next season.

I've seen a few channels do this but the easiest example would be G.O.T. Games.

    For the record, the Crunchyroll subs don't _suck_ so much as... People get excited. I found them 7.5/10-ish. The fansubs bothered the heck out of me because it put memes in background scenes, translated _okonomiyaki_ as _pancakes_ and made characters swear when it honestly does NOT fit their character. The fansub songs don't incorporate the fact that the song lyrics are episode titles and story hooks. They're really hit or miss when it comes to honorifics, suffixes. They flip-flop between being completely literal and actually interpreting what was said in context, and...
    But I digress. It's just a _me_ problem. I just find the fansubs extremely lacking.

    • @joshuakrumholtz
      @joshuakrumholtz Месяц назад

      Which differences? I'm not saying the Crunchyroll subs are the best-There's an issue in Season 5 where the translation, in context, wasn't bad-what was said had different meanings and they went with one.
      There are two instances in Season 4 where, due to Japanese omitting context, a subject and the topic were a little muddied.
      All in all, the Crunchyroll subs are _good_ though not the best. Especially in comparison with the fansubs based on Commie that are just an absolute trainwreck and the _only_ they have going for them is that weebs just pathologically hate official things. The fansubs, as stated, can't settle on honorifics, don't translate cultural artifacts right, flip flop between being a literal translation and being entirely too flowery, make characters swear who honestly would never make even a mild oath, doesn't account for the fact that the song lyrics are literally episode and arc words... It just goes on.

      @@pretentiousname01 The aforementioned scene in season 5. That people always point to as the smoking gun? The one that' still grammatically correct even if the translation, by being literal, misses the point? The translation where the hate for it started in a RUclips comment on the Crunchyroll video of the scene and boiled out into the lore?
      I dislike Crunchyroll as much as the next guy. But the hate on the official subs is _purely_ fueled by weeb hype. The Commie subs are terrible. Like _bad_ bad. I didn't even go into the whole "Heavenrend" thing. The cope is so strong that, if you were to go and look at any of the various reddit threads about the translations you'll get people who would normally whine about "localizations bad" argue that calling Ame no Habakiri "Heavenrend" but not Gungnir as "The Swaying One" as _good_ localization. There's defense of the memetic translations of background content. Leaving mistranslations up as memes as an in-joke. If you don't even want to use the Crunchy subs the Discotek Media subs from the Bluray are as tight as they can be and they're _right there_ on the usual sites. But I guess they'd be too official.

      @Skywolfhd20 17 дней назад

    • @HyperLuigi37
      @HyperLuigi37 17 дней назад

      @ It’s nonsense to call one or the other more “accurate.” 絶唱 isn’t a word that directly exists in English so the only basis you can have for that is arbitrarily deciding a certain dictionary’s translation is the only correct one, despite the fact that zesshous in this series are a special fictional concept. Thus the best translation is one that best represents what it actually is.
      Not to mention that the first kanji 絶 is used in several other words relating to climaxes or finality, which means it’s a completely reasonable judgement to contextually say it’s a way better translation given “superb song” just straight up doesn’t mean really anything. Oh it’s a super good song. Okay? Who cares? I can sing a really good song, doesn’t mean I will die and exude insane amounts of energy.
