    Personally I upgraded with clipless mountain bike pedals for easy use on gravel and urban rides and I plan to buy secondly some new tyres (likely Continental GP 5000 28 or 25) and the Sensah Pro group set 2x12 if it fits (at 300 euro without brakes) cause are the best part to transfer to a new frame eventually. Good video, thank you for sharing!

  •  2 года назад +3

    Nice customization. I like the break-swap the most. And not that you mentioned that the new ones are much better, i am also considering it.
    I also love the RC100 as a base to build something for your own needs... my one got a cheap 36 spoke back wheel 38T crank a 12-42 8speed Microshift Accolyte casette and deraileour, with a heavily bodged shifter installation :S, for a wide range ghetto gravel drive train :)
    I kept the steel fork, but installed front and rear racks and use it as a touring bike.

      Isn't the 100 the one with a flat bar? Sort of a fitness/commuter bike, while the RC stands for Road Cycling or something similar and has a drop bar and is a gravel/road bike.

      There is no difference. B'Twin Triban 100 was released in 2017 just when Decathlon announced that they will change the brand to simply Triban and drop the B'Twin brand. All the Triban 100 bikes released after 2018 are just painted silver with the Triban writings on the sides and they are named RC100. Prior to 2018 they had black B'Twin on the sides and it was named B'Twin Triban 100 (just like the one in this video). Other than that they are the same bike.

    • @Toretto16
      @Toretto16 3 года назад +1

      @@isaac-mihaiperianu6425
      They are not the same. The biggest difference is that Triban has a rear wheel with cassette and quick release, and the hub can take up to 10 gears cassette. The older Btwin Triban has rear wheel with out quick release and freehub which can take only up to 7 gears. And the new Triban has more efficient brakes. Those small differences make a Triban a bit better bike.

    I was thinking the exact thing about the shifter and am thinking of just replacing the right lever with a shimano brifter since it's a single chainring bike, which I think that's what you did in the video. Was wondering how the grip and handling feel like, with a tektro lever on the left and a shimano on the right.
    Also: did you need a longer shifter cable or a different brake cable?

    • @bastlerdiy449
      @bastlerdiy449  3 года назад

      Jup, I only changed the right lever. I think I even reused the old cable and housing for the brake, but had to replace the shifter cable and housing, because the old one wasn't long enough. The Shimano shifter is a bit bigger and bulkier. So it feels a bit different than the Tektro one. But during day-to-day use I barely notice it.

      @bulldoggishitzuu 3 года назад

      @@bastlerdiy449 I see, that's what I'm gonna do. Yeah, I guess it won't have a huge difference on the different grips on day to day rides. Thanks man!

    • @vincekerrigan8300
      @vincekerrigan8300 2 года назад +1

      @@bulldoggishitzuu I bought BTwin Triban 100 after having a nice Vitus road bike stolen. I saved 1kg in weight immediately by swapping out the original gravel style tyres for some decent road tyres , and my intention was next to change the AO50 palm changer for a 'brifter' - having been used to them for years. But - here's one for the drive train snobs - after a few rides I found,to my surprise, that I preferred the AO50 shifter. It is snappy, precise, changes very fast, and you can run through the full gear range in one movement. Yes it is a bit more inconvenient in use, but for an old school cyclist brought up on down tube shifters that is not a problem. It is not quite as posh, I suppose, but I would not now go back to 'brifters'. The bike is built around an excellent frame so rides extremely well, and the much derided Tourney rear mech. behaves flawlessly, having hardly put a foot wrong in 6,000 km. The limited gear range and the lack of a high top gear doesn't actually bother me now, because having just reached 91 years of age my legs prefer spinning to pushing. I even fitted a 40t chainwheel to help. An excellent bike for the price, even without upgrades.

I used brifters for years and my intention was to change the shifter right away, but having got used to the AO50 - I know it's heresy to say so - I now prefer it. It is very precise and changes can be made much faster than with brifters. As far as I am concerned the only advantage of a brifter would be it's snob value.

      You would need another fork.
      I think you'd better buy the Triban RC120 if you want discs.
