Thank you Julia! This was the most helpful pine cone tutorial I've found. They are challenging to a semi-beginner. I found that removing some brown if I put too much gave me the effect I was trying to achieve ... still haven't finished just yet. It does require patience!
Thank you Julia! I am learning a lot from you. I am already in my 70s and so I realize that there’s only so far that I can go. But you are a young person with a lot of talent and so I am going to recommend someone to you and I really really hope that you don’t take this the wrong way. I think that you have potential to be really great. That level of greatness that I am talking about just doesn’t happen at your age but for you it is possible. I want to recommend that you watch RUclips videos by Oliver Pyle who is a British landscape artist and one of the best instructors out there today. He could, and may, teach college level art. I just think that with time and the right influences you can be one of the greats too. Of course you are already very good, like I said please don’t take my comments wrong! 💕
Thanks for your recommendation Donna. I don't have intentions to 'achieve a level of greatness'. I paint for fun and post tutorials along with my mistakes for everyone to learn from :)
So beautiful! I’m determined to give this a go but as a beginner I’ll admit I’m a bit intimidated. I’m not sure which colors I should even use or mix, but I guess that’s part of the learning process!
This is pure BlLis, Julia! You're so talented in painting, and teaching painting! That's a rare quality among artists. Thank you for sharing! In the meantime, I stumbled upon your first video of drawing a pine Christmas tree, I hope your partner has obtained the green card by now. I recently received mine and is beyond thrilled. Just subscribed to your channel.
Comparing this to my 'abstract' pinecone tutorial from a few weeks ago, which is your favourite and why?
Great.Thanks
Thanks for teaching us!!!
Of course!
Thanks for the "great" tutorial

The colors don't matter - a brown is a brown! :) Give it a go - you'll surprise yourself!

Thank you for the kind words!
Great tutorial! By the way, they're called "pine needles" not pines. Just an FYI ;)
I know they are called pine needles lol. I don't really pay attention to my words when I paint.
Thanks!
Thank you again Holly!
