Thanks for watching!
Very cool!
Ok, here's a challenge. The giant cargo plane deploys a vehicle powered by APM that autonomously drives back to you following waypoints!
TheAdkFlyer10 I support and endorse this...
Of course my input is meaningless.
my input is meaningless too you know.
Rc skydivers? never seen those before . accurate as well. The mechanism could be used to do a mid air battery replacement.APM and a couple of servos could pretty much guarantee the spent batters landed within a safe area for recharging .I think something like the kracken(love that name)would be ideal as kind of service drone to replace batters midair refiling with batters would be a challenge.but definitely doable. I think the cargo plane would need an aux battery to keep it in a stable dissent after ditching a spent battery at altitude something like a 2.2 5 cell could do 3 maybe 4 attempts or replacements. Two protruding forward facing chop stick type arrangement at the front of the Kracken could be used to pick up two over sized fold away hoops under the cargo drone using fpv .once successfully attached load censors would send the cargo drone into a steep climb detaching the new battery already ankerd at two points bringing the new battery flush with the fuselage bearing in mind this battery would already have a parachute APM and a couple of servos for the next cicle. simerly as the battery becomes flush with the fuse a small microelectronic or arduino would clamp the battery at a third point securing the terminals and completing the cicle. maybe wishful thinking but imagine the possibility's this could open up if it were made scalable and automated.wouldnt it be great if people saw a drone and saw an invaluable interesting cheap efficient workhorse. Yeah.... waypoints too good point(about 50 miles apart)wooops of on a tangent again sooory.
TheAdkFlyer10 Game On.............
Jeesus! They didn't even track away from each other :-D Awesome work on the Chutes and on the RC Skyvan!
lol
That's insane!! Kills our Parachute Drops!! Loved it
Great job finishing the plane Peter! You should drop some tanks or humvees out with parachutes. Rockets would be cool also! Great job flite test crew. I've followed you guys since near the beginning and You've come a long way and have tons of support. I think the key to your success is that you listen to your viewers and try to give us what we want to see. Keep up the awesome work FT!
Raffle idea- sell a bunch of numbered ping pong balls/mini-parachutes/whatever, load them into the cargo plane and drop over a drop zone at events. Closest to target wins. More fun than the usual raffles at flying events!
As you guys know, we here in California are in the middle of an epic drought, which means wildfires. As a challenge why not try dropping water balloons out of the Capybara onto a Weber sized fire and show the world the potential for RC firefighting. You guys do the coolest stuff, keep it up.
Do the fast and furious 7 bit where the cars jump out the plane and I would recommend using the animus 1/18sc rc short course truck there very cheap and very strong
Yesssss and mabey use parachutes that would be so cool!
aaron baxter They should do the A Team tank scene. Now THAT would be cool!
aaron baxter just what i was gonna say:)
aaron baxter That was running through my mind when the first video on this beastly plane came out. Big Thumbs up on this one.
aaron baxter yes i was gonna say that it would be awesome!
Love you guys!
Here's a challenge: reach a high altitude and a long distance away with the cargo plane, then open the door and drop a ground vehicle out of it using remotely opened parachutes. When the vehicle lands, remotely drive it to a house (using only FPV) to drop something off, then take it to a nearby open space, land the plane, open the cargo door, drive the vehicle back into it, then fly the plane back to you, land it, unload the vehicle, and park it. You would be officially the most skilled RC pilots in the world if you could pull that off. I really really really hope you can do it!
I enjoyed this way more than I thought I would
Very cool guys cant wait to see more. thanks
Absolutely awesome and some new flite test music. Woo
In honor of David.. It needs a rocket assisted take off
Just like the Blue Angels' C-130 Hercules "Fat Albert" used to do.
Exactly
YES!!!!!
And don't use any wimpy rockets on there, get some F's or G's, that would be epic!
Lol
Had a lot of fun filming with you guys. The video was great
Nice. Parachutes look kinda peaceful. Capybara looks really good with paint job. Keep up the good work guys.
... fantastic footage guys :-) .... the plane is awesome!
Awesome! What will they discover next?? I love this show! Creativity and imagination gives humanity hope... Never stop discovering FliteTest!
They look awesome
Great episode guys :)
Lots of cool ideas for the cargo plane, but I think something simple like doing a low pass deploying an r/c Jeep or tank on a sled via parachute to drag it out would be really cool.
For an example, check out the video
"M551 Sheridan Low Altitude Parachute Extraction System (LAPES)"
I used to skydive (until it got too expensive), and I'm so impressed with the scale accuracy of those RC rigs. Peter, you should try to do a LAPES drop with the giant cargo plane. That would be epic!
The shindon is looking fresh!
Never seen RC Skydivers before, they look really cool. I shouldn't be surprised how much they fly like real skydivers, but I am :)
I respect the man who put a flag in his back while skydiving
Love your videos
THAT IS SO COOL. Epic!!!
Now they need the parachutists to land in a scale model of a Football Stadium!!
I love your videos FliteTest, hate the waiting everytime.
And please hang on to putting the metric values in brackets, it's awesome^^
Fav video ever
NICE! LOVE IT!
Hey Flitetest! I stumbled across your youtube channel and have literally watched 80% of the videos on your channel this week. I am jumping into the hobby head first with scratch builds right away and will be buying a griffin as well. Cant wait to get in the air.
I have a military background so my suggestion for the capybara is to set it up for a JATO take off like a the "fat albert". My second suggestion is to make an FPV guided "munition" that you could drop out of the back and guide it to the target like the 90's TV guided bombs from desert storm. I think the challenge would be to not only steer the un-powered projectile to the target but to build the FPV rig to survive the drop.
I literally just thought of this while typing this comment but another cool idea would be to set up an FPV rig on it in the downward position, like an old bombers sight. You could then drop some lawn darts/marker flags while using the sight.
Keep up the good work! The day I visit the Football hall of fame I'll be swinging by to say hi.
Love what you guys are doing! This is a great show! Try dropping an rc car with a parachute out of the cargo plane and when it lands you should drive it. I would love to see that. Keep up the good work
Great Episode. Although it was a bit short, it introduced me to a new area of the hobby. I haven't enjoyed an episode like this in quite a while. I miss the guys just screwing around outside the house. Felt much more personal then. That said, you guys rock. Nice plane Peter! P.S. We need RC Parachute Plans asap.
At 4:02 you can even see the Flyzone Sensei fs behind Joshs right shoulder. My daughter had one and loves it. Hope they do an episode on it soon.
FliteTest When will you bring out an episode on the packing of these chute? I'm a skydiver myself and I would love to see these RC skydivers in more detail!
That was great !!!!!
I didn't know RC skydiving was a thing. That's cool!
Thanks for being awesome!! See you at FF15
this is awesome. Peter rules the scratchbuild scene!!!! sorry bix, you came in second.
Have it drop a larger pun jet, and have that drop the regular pun jet. Just because.....
Or have it just drop a bunch of regular pun jets. I love that plane.
Anyways that plane is amazing another great video as usual guys!
U guys should make a fast and furious scene were the cars drove out and had the parachute on the cars
1. Drop an RC tank (or car) on a platform stabilized by small chutes, chutes too small to perform a safe landing. Have rocket motors on each corner of the platform that fire simultaneously before touchdown to arrest your velocity.
2. Build a simple ballistic chute (spring in a tube, slingshot, or use a rocket motor) to pull the tank/car sled out of the back of the plane as you do a low, slow pass.
3. Combine 1&2.
4.Put out fires.
5.Put pyrophoric materials on top of cheap rc cars/boats, bomb them with water, direct hits with cause fire/explosion and the AMA will be happy. Have 3 or 4 driving around as targets, use fpv for the pilot AND the bombardier.
Make the rear door of the plane servo-controlled to open and close and set up a mechanism to have the parachuters drop out from the plane itself "makes it more realistic" very awesome for the most part. You guys are great !!!
We love you guys and your family friendly theme! Abby and I REALLY wanted to make Flight Fest this year but have work scheduling conflicts =^( Our #flyingfamilies hope to meet up soon one day!
I know that it's not proper or safe to fly over people, but you did ask what you should drop next from the Giant cargo plane. Maybe you could have a bunch of kids behind a line at an event and fly above the field and drop a bunch of parachuting candy bars and then blow a little air horn when he clears the field and let the kids go and try to catch them as he goes to land on another field. That would certainly create some great memories for the very small kids that may be too young to fly quite yet.
Best background music in the videos on this channel
excellent show.
Id love to se that huge plane do some pyrotechnics maybe with night lights.
This show is what got me into flying. Thanks so much.
I really enjoy flying my carbon z cub on floats, all from your tips.
Cheers
Awesome as always !!!
Greetings from Ukraine !!!
I loved the Capivara, hope to see more giant designs, i suggest the FT Crusier or the Spitfire
R.C. Skdivers!!...That is so Cool!!!....I gotta get one!!
P.A.D.S drop. Mini scale wood pallets holding cargo, install a strip of rollers in the cargo hold of the Capy. Open bay door, release pallets to slide on the rollers, nose up, Servo deployed Drauge chutes, each pallet has a small APM or basic guidance, automated parachute. Each pallet can be a can of Mt Dew or what have you, delivered to a predetermined way point.
I want that plane in the background! when will it be released? :)
Croom/AileronRC The Shinden? "Soon". ;)
They were having a lot of problems with the flying characteristics. I'm not sure if they were able to fix all quirks yet, but since it's shown so much lately, it can't be long.
no way yesterday i suggested you do this . today you have done it ! . maybe now stick a little fpv camera on those paratroopers
What was that canard plane in The background when you were in your shop? I hope you're FINALLY going to make a kit of a canard plane!
I would LOVE to see "LAPES" (Low Altitude Parachute Extraction System) done with this aircraft!!!
Good fun video :)
Peter, I'd love to see a 250 mini-quad drop out of the back of that bad boy, and take off by FPV! Drone delivery system revisit? Keep up the awesome work, guys!
cool idea
Are you guys going to post a Joe Nall 2015 recap?
in 1993 or 04 (or earlier) John Lockwood set the world record of dropping (I think 8) RC Skydivers from a gloplug plane that looked a lot like what Peter has built. :) John Lockwood also built some of the RC planes that were used in the filming of The Right Stuff ....particularly the X1's drop for Yeager's sound record. Man I hope someone can fact check all this. I was like 15 years old and was given a transmitter to control one of the Skydivers and my memory is a bit fuzzy.
Try this: Make a guided parachuting delivery device using tech similar to the skydivers which can carry a heavy payload to a target. In the new field opened up by Google's and Amazon's delivery drones, there's a lot of room for innovation. Parachuting devices wouldn't require much high-tech, expensive equipment and could be left with the client or mailed back to the shipping company, but would still allow aerial delivery.
Peter, I have built a 120" cargo plane out of DTFB and I plan to launch a Bell X-1 using homemade sugar rockets from it this summer, I bet that would make a fantastic episode if you did the same with your massive cargo as well.
i love it
Josh, where do you find the ones you had on the video. I can find some almost look a human but not real close like you show in the vid. Jumpers look like some darn good fun.
look in the description there's a link there
Cool!
Could you deploy a rc tank or jeep the same way the army does? The dropped cargo could also complete a scenario.
will you be offering the plans for that huge plane, or the big guinea. thanks
very nice bro..got the eleron fix
sweet! remember pilot wings for the snes? hit the target!
hey thats an amazing plane ive got a passion for all rcs and i was thinking of how cool it would be to see a traxxas e-revo vxl be thrown outta that hunker. hope to see it :)
A whole swarm needs to fly out of this! Like 10 or 15 mini quads dropped crop duster style!
Cool stuff! I'm going to build one now only I control both diver and plane.
I plan to accomplish this by using my plane that has an APM in it and when I get to the altitude I want switch channels which will cause the plane to lose signal and go into RTL/loiter mode and then I will switch to the channel which controls the skydiver.
So is there a possibility of releasing plans for the Giant Guinea?
i really want the plans for this plane , anyone know how to get a hold of them? would love to see them do a touch and go tank drop with a chute and all , that would be awesome !
Where can i Get on of these rc skydivers can you please put it on the store or tell me where i can get one
awesome
I would love to make one of these skydivers. There is very little info on the interwebs about them. And the ones I have found before are not cheap.
Please tell me you guys are going to give out plans or sell a kit. I want to build one of these now
I'd love to see you put in a multiple parachutist ejection system and make it look like a military drop.
Do some event recaps I really enjoy them!
Mid air refueling / recharging would be awesome if very difficult
Nice to see that you fixed the ailerons. Now you need to add 2 more motors to make it a real work horse.
I would be curious about how much you can carry and how far. Maybe surf on the "delivery drones" hype and show these that nothing can beat a plane for distance and load !
Good. Very good.
GPS guided cargo drop? Low altitude parachute extraction?
HI. but is it possible to purchase the parachutist and the release system?
i cant wait to see things fly in and out of the cargo door
There are many capybaras on the park where we fly. You must watch your step. LOL
Challenge: Do some aerial refueling like a KC-130 with some spare batteries and a cable using maybe magnets to connect up to a smaller plane for some mid-air recharges!
Soooi cool, u should drop rc tanks with parachutes attached like they did in WW2,
then create like a mini battle scene with the tanks, and planes doing low flyby ground attacks. That would be awesome
You should do a review on the Umx habu 180df
were are you guys at when you fly them
What the jumper scale ( height) used?
1:00 I see that ascender in the background, do you plan on making a video about it? I haven't found one on your channel...
Takeshi M It's not an Ascender. It's a Shinden :) They are working on it as a new scratch build to have in the store and of course release plans, etc.
Balu
how do u know so much about the flite test group... strange
One giant pun jet! Or tons of little pun jets, or both!
that planes awesome
WHERE DID YOU GET THAT MINI PARACHUTE??
GORRY GORRY WHAT A HELLUVA WAY TO DIIEEEEE
Great video as always. Peter, I love the Capybara it looks incredible all painted up! Well done.
Okay, as far as suggestions for things to do:
Drop a fuel-air bomb like they did in the final act of 'Outbreak'. Okay, not really but maybe you could simulate it with lotsa fireworks on a parachute. If you wanna be ultra true to the script you can hover a scale MD 500 in the flight path to throw off the bombing run.
No, wait....
Mid air refueling !!! (I have no idea where to even start... just do it .... GO !! )
YESSSS^^^😀😀😀
That plane can have an empty water bottle on it and another plane with the filled water bottle in it and as they touch the water somehow releases from the filled water bottle into the empty one. You could possibly figure out a type of latch that would open when the two ends touch.
You could put a charger in the capybara and a car battery and try to charge li-pos on another one, maybe have two packs and one flies while the other charges w/ scorpion backup guard for the transfer... You could have fun with this one Peter - throw in some electromagnetic contacts too...
which cord did you use?
Hey guys... What about a remake of the scene in The A-Team when they drop the tank out of the back on parachutes?
I would love to see an fpv "land in the cargo hold" challenge. Maybe using the pun jet, although you might need something a bit slower and more stable.
That was damn cool, guys! xD
How much did the 'skydiver' weigh(including the weight of the motors, battery, RX etc) ?
Also, how does someone go about calculating the dimensions of the parachute for a given payload weight(say 1.s - 2.0 kg)?
Thanks for the amazing video!
Regards,
Ash!sh.
