I'm so glad this show is getting some exposure. I've been a fan ever since the original webshow. It sucks seeing the initial backlash to the TV remake. Awesome to see Nirvanna the Band the Show the Reboot finally getting the attention it deserves.
This is one of the funniest shows I've ever seen but it pisses me off that it's on a network that barely has any connection to cable networks so people are forced to hunt it down
poetryjesus totally agree. I tried to recommend this to as many friends as possible, but without being able to link them to an episode it was kind of difficult… I couldn't even find it on torrent sites and had to watch it through dodgy online streams, so here's hoping it sees some kind of wider exposure than just some weird hipster skater channel....
Coil_Whine niqqa hwat? VICE isnt an sjw channel. Sure it has sjws on it but most of their reporting consists of impartial hipsters who talk to people from many walks of life.
One of the underlying funniest things about this show right off the bat for me is that the Rivoli is very easy to get a gig with. Like I remember talking with people when the original webseries was out about how they thought the Rivoli must be more high end, when in reality part of what makes the show over-the-top funny is that the Rivoli really is just a normal, nice venue that you can usually get a show with if you just ask
As an aspiring actor/filmmaker in Canada, this is actually really inspiring. Matt Johnson seems to know exactly what he wants to make and is making fantastic content.
thank you Adam. I struggle with severe depression and I am always seeking funny, thought-provoking media to take my mind off things. Your reviews, especially videos like this that turn me onto something that doesn't suck, mean the world to me and really help me get through the day.
hey man that sounds pretty awesome keep making the awesome videos man you are a legend here on RUclips you are a good friend and you are an inspiration to all and you are funny as hell keep making the awesome videos man never stop always be yourself thank you for all the support you're awesome dude keep being an inspiration you are you are awesome dude this is funny keep making me awesome videos Legend here on RUclips
I just watched the Show from start to finish! Hardest i laughed all year so far! Thank you for the recommendation of something so great that apparently flew under the radar for quite some people :D
I have to thank you for helping me discover one of my favorite shows and favorite directors. Way back when you recommended The Dirties I fell in love and have been following Matt Johnson ever since. NTBTS is definitely already one of my favorite shows of all time and I'm glad to see you helping to spread the word. I've been showing the series to everyone I know who would appreciate it. Even found the old webisodes and have binged through them almost as much as the new series. Again, I have you to thank for that, so thanks.
This actually looks so refreshing. The balance of improv and scripted performance along with the subtle details show that it's not just another series of some guys just dicking about but they've actually spent time on it and cared about what they were making. I'll have to give this a watch, it's been a while since I've enjoyed a good comedy.
So yesterday after watching this, I immediately went and binge watched the show for a few hours. Absolutely hilarious. I'm really glad Adam made this video giving it more exposure.
Every time I watch the scene where they’re discussing and the Jurassic segment plays I get goosebumps. It’s so rare to see something so beautiful yet so hilarious it’s amazing.
The whole scene on the piano reminded me of the Seinfeld "a show about nothing" scene, inderictly breaking the fourth wall, talking about what they are going to do but are indeed doing atm and the awkwardness of the situation as a whole
I'm in Australia and saw it advertised on viceland. I had never heard of these guys or the show before. I was like wtf is this about seeing the name. Watched the first scene and was instantly hooked. Highly recommend for pop culture junkies or buddy comedy fans. Wish these guys all the success in the world.
adam in your interview with matt. he mentioned nirvanna the band the show. it wasnt until i saw the show that i had realized that you had interviewed him. i just have to say thankyou. i have hated most of tv but nirvanna the band the show is now one of my favorites. its so refreshing and hilarious. i cant believe how amazing it is. just wanted to thank you for giving matt a platform to speak on
adum ever since watching you edit this video on twitch one late night, and watching the 1st episode of NTBTS till the end, to watching The Dirties, to Operation Avalanche.… I really really really really love Matt Johnson as a director so much. I really wish this had a bigger fanbase cause this show and it's webseries is AMAZING! Changed my life, so happy, so excited for more episodes of the show!! I dunno I just want to hug Matt Johnson and Jay Carroll one day, like, I'm so proud of Matt!!
that cut at 12:15 was so good adam your editing your skills are actually so good now. like the tempo of that was just really impressive, someone lesser would have just let that whole scene run out but you inserted a thought in between and kept it rolling smoothly. good shit
Chris it really years. Probably one of the best 'new' TV shows I've seen this year (Though I was a huge fan of the web series so my opinion might be clouded slightly…).
I love Adam he is extremely articulate in his reviews yet when explaining breaking the 4th wall in this review and black dynamite specifically he sounds like he is exposing the concept very patiently to 3 year olds
I'll need to get around ro watching the rest of this soon, I watched the first episode when you shared it and really enjoyed it. Your recommendations are almost always things I end up really liking.
I've been looking for another show to fill the void in my heart since your video way back on Kenny Vs Spenny and it looks like this is gonna scratch that itch!
I'd seen The Dirties after seeing your video on it, and I checked out Nirvana the Band after watching this video. It's now my favorite new thing; the first show I ever purchased off youtube lol Thank you so much Adam!
I watched the first episode of this on youtube a couple months back and loved it! Would have watched the rest but got preoccupied with finishing college, and I don't have Viceland. Great to see this show get some recognition it deserves!
oh my god i was about to tune out but as soon as i heard synedoche part 5 coming soon my heart nearly jumped out of my chest!!! i binge watched them a few weeks ago and im soooo hype to see the rest
I just purchased the first season on itunes. I love this show and it might just be my new favorite comedy series. Thanks so much for recommending it and keep it up with the quality content!
I have never heard of this show before. So when I saw "Nirvana Band" I thought Adam was going to talk about Nirvana the band. And then the "show" part made me say "what the fuck, there was a show?"
really funny this was released today as I binged the whole season last weekend and rewatched it yesterday glad to get your input on my now second favorite show
This has very similar energy to Tim Heidecker's On Cinema at The Cinema. The Trial of Tim Heidecker and the Oscar Specials are works of art. I love the deep commitment to a character and a universe
I caught this show on comedy central I believe and it was really entertaining to know who the people making the show are and seeing my dad try and piece together what was happening
I couldn't help but notice that one of the incredibly brief music cues on the show was from Chrono Trigger... I enjoy the almost *never-ending* John Williams cues, but that one tickled me more than I thought it possibly could!
I was a huge fan of this show when it was a web series and even bought a DVD which Jay kindly shipped to me all the way to the UK which I've watched several times over the past decade. Then when I heard that they were going to remake it for TV I was so excited and I'm glad to say it met all my wildest expectations, and then some. It was one of those kind of shows that I went out of my way to advertise on social media and try to get friends to watch, because I really hope they get to make more series, either with Vice or anyone else. The fair use part was really interesting as, aside from wondering how many of the real world interactions were staged or not, my next biggest question was how they got away with using all of those movies and songs, not to mention recording in a freaking movie theatre at the new Star Wars film!
I watched the first episode of this show, and thought it was great. I completely forgot to keep watching episodes though. Now I have something to watch all the way through, thanks!
My one friend kept on telling me to check out this show. I didn't know Matt Johnson was in it or anything about it for that matter but now that I've seen this video I'll definitely check the show out.
5 hours after watching this video I just came back to say I finished Watching the show. Thank you Adum for introducing me to this. So damn funny. The ending is great haha.
You sold me on the show. Good job, Adam. I saw Viceland advertising it in my feed and disregarded it based on the name. Oops. Well, in my defense, there's a lot of media to make decisions on.... anyway, thanks! That scene at the end with the sunglasses and the Jurassic Park theme made me laugh.
My friends and I were big fans of the webshow when it was around, and were thrilled to find out it was becoming a real show. I was sceptical, having been a fan of Pure Pwnage as a webshow, and seeing how it was kinda destroyed when Showcase picked it up, but after watching a number of episodes, it's fucking brilliant.
Good editing and showing of clips. I've watched so called funny scenes from shows before and without enough context, they're really not funny. The way the Jurassic Park bit was set up was prefect. Thank you, Up and Adum!
I love these guys! I'm glad you're spreading the word about them and using your powers for good instead of evil (i.e. that purple bubblegum monster. BTW, thanks for the nightmares, you goddamn hippie-haired Canuck...)
I'm so glad this show is getting some exposure. I've been a fan ever since the original webshow. It sucks seeing the initial backlash to the TV remake. Awesome to see Nirvanna the Band the Show the Reboot finally getting the attention it deserves.
"Hit 'em with the John Cena?"
"You don't need to pull out a gun and yell 'John Cena."
spiritmint "It's a John Cena element."
Found this show through you on facebook. instantly became a fan

This is one of the funniest shows I've ever seen but it pisses me off that it's on a network that barely has any connection to cable networks so people are forced to hunt it down
poetryjesus It would destroy on adult swim or Netflix.
poetryjesus totally agree. Coil_Whine niqqa hwat? VICE isnt an sjw channel. Sure it has sjws on it but most of their reporting consists of impartial hipsters who talk to people from many walks of life.
Yeah...
Coil_Whine vice video content is A1. Their online articles are trash and a half
The "Censored by Viceland" just made the scene funnier.
@@alexnew3118 probably a good move lmao would not want the legacy of this show to be MAPs on twitter clipping that one part
One of the underlying funniest things about this show right off the bat for me is that the Rivoli is very easy to get a gig with. "Oh, you guys are a band?"
"...We're BANNED?!"
I wasnt sure if I was going to watch this show right away or not, but 12:55 convinced me so much.
As an aspiring actor/filmmaker in Canada, this is actually really inspiring. Matt Johnson seems to know exactly what he wants to make and is making fantastic content.

Thank you for spotlighting this.
woahhhhh. an on time recommendation? I like to live in the 90s thank you very much yms
oh also. going up the country and the beat to what I presume was busdrivers imaginary places is quite a loquacious music vocabulary.
I hope Matt Johnson makes Nirvana the Band the Show the Movie
then we can get the nirvana the band the show the movie: the official video game
good news !

I recently found this show while at work. During one of my breaks it just happened to be on the channel showing it late at night.
Do a YMS of 13 reasons why! That show is sadly Netflix's most popular show and everyone thinks it's perfect
Manipulating a script based on what happens sounds fun.
I love Adam he is extremely articulate in his reviews yet when explaining breaking the 4th wall in this review and black dynamite specifically he sounds like he is exposing the concept very patiently to 3 year olds
It sold me when I saw him reenact the scene from Jurassic park lol.
That King of Fighters reference, though. When was the last time you saw a KOF reference anywhere?
love this show, doesn't get enough attention
the friendship between these two is what I hope to have one day.
I'll need to get around ro watching the rest of this soon, I watched the first episode when you shared it and really enjoyed it. Your recommendations are almost always things I end up really liking.
thank you so much for making this video. i went and watched the first 4 episodes of this and i absolutely love it and can't wait to see more of it
This is one of my favourite shows now
This became one of my favorite shows of all time. Thank you for introducing me to this show Adam.
I've been looking for another show to fill the void in my heart since your video way back on Kenny Vs Spenny and it looks like this is gonna scratch that itch!
Adam thank you so much for showcasing this.
NTBTS has become my favourite thing since Awesome Show.
I'd seen The Dirties after seeing your video on it, and I checked out Nirvana the Band after watching this video. It's now my favorite new thing; the first show I ever purchased off youtube lol Thank you so much Adam!
I actually wanna watch this. It looks fucking awesome.
i am so glad you covered this show, more people need to see this wonderful show!
really summed it up with "at first glance looks like any reality tv show" which is why it took me so long to finally binge it all at once
illegally?
The sundance episode fucking blew my mind
I watched the first episode of this on youtube a couple months back and loved it!
Would have watched the rest but got preoccupied with finishing college, and I don't have Viceland.
Great to see this show get some recognition it deserves!
I thought this would be about nirvana.
It is. You can see Kurt Cobain in the background at 4:20
Kasper Mortensen "4:20"
Nevaeh what made you think that
Nirvana has nothing to do with Nirvanna The Band... The Show...
FelixTOONS I know, never said it did.
Love this show! Knew you'd talk about it eventually.
You've enticed me, i'm watching this tonight!!
So glad you're giving this show some more attention. Every episode kills me
oh my god i was about to tune out but as soon as i heard synedoche part 5 coming soon my heart nearly jumped out of my chest!!! i binge watched them a few weeks ago and im soooo hype to see the rest
I don't normally listen to your suggestions but this seems like a great series. I'm gonna go watch and support them! Thanks Adam!
Thank you. Already 5 episodes in. So good
I remember being given a dvd of these guys years and years ago, this new show is just a new version of that old show.
Nice Ben Folds at the end
Unit 3000/21 Yeah, didn't expect to hear army after this
5:31 Ahhh, Skate 3 memories. That song brings me back to 2012.
I just purchased the first season on itunes. I love this show and it might just be my new favorite comedy series. Thanks so much for recommending it and keep it up with the quality content!
Been a huge fan of this show since I saw it at TIFF. Happy to see you get the word out
That canned heat in the background 👌🏻
Great vid. Hope this show gets the audience it deserves.
Easily one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. If you like dark comedy you won't be disappointed
This show is so hilarious. My roommate saw the Toronto premier and immediately ran back and binged the web series with me. So good.
That Ben folds at the end is what sold me on this show 👌
The season finale of this is one of the wildest half-hours of television I've ever seen. Just a thrill to behold.
Checked it out due to your recomendation; SERIOUSLY glad that I did. It was very clever and hilarious.
this show is fucking hilarious and im glad that you made a video about it
Watched the first 3 minutes of this video, binged all 8 episodes, watched the rest of this video. Thanks as always, YMS.
When you were talking about daredevil you missed the joke that daredevil is blind
I don't think he missed, it was just too obvious to tell people about it.
This is the funniest show i've ever seen. Thanks YMS for introducing it to me
I just watched the walking dead bit and totally lost my mind. Genius
I have never heard of this show before. So when I saw "Nirvana Band" I thought Adam was going to talk about Nirvana the band. And then the "show" part made me say "what the fuck, there was a show?"
I was listening to Nirvana just as this video was uploaded. Nice.
Vidyagamesnake You have an anime upload you lil kid

I know this is an old video, but the show is STILL awesome and people should still be checking it out!
I watched the first episode of this show, and thought it was great. I completely forgot to keep watching episodes though. Now I have something to watch all the way through, thanks!
I love these guys. Genuinely funny humour and they take themselves extremely seriously to fuck with people.
I'm Charles Stiles, I'm with a company called Mystery Diners???
My one friend kept on telling me to check out this show. I didn't know Matt Johnson was in it or anything about it for that matter but now that I've seen this video I'll definitely check the show out.
THESE GUYS ARE SUCH GENIUSES I LOVE IT
Okay, now I'm definitely watching this show....
5 hours after watching this video I just came back to say I finished Watching the show. Thank you Adum for introducing me to this. So damn funny. The ending is great haha.

Love your work Adam, thanks for all you do!!
Thank you for making this review. I love this tv show now. The humor is so damn good.
YES!!!!!!!! We are finally getting Synecdoche New York part 5 it's been years since the last one.
I love these guys! I'm glad you're spreading the word about them and using your powers for good instead of evil (i.e. that purple bubblegum monster. BTW, thanks for the nightmares, you goddamn hippie-haired Canuck...)
