    I am so glad I found your channel! I am new to the Catholic faith and currently in RCIA. I was formerly Protestant and studied the Bible (Protestant version) extensively, but I wandered for years with no church. I had a conversion experience to Catholicism and from the time I wake up until I go to bed, I find myself praying or meditating on God's Word. I can't wait to attend Mass on Sunday and I am considering attending daily Mass. I just have this insatiable desire for the Church and serving God. When I recently visited with the Associate Pastor in my Parish, he asked me if I had considered a vocation. I was really taken back by his question. "Well, Father, I'm still trying to become a Catholic." One step at a time. He asked me to prayerfully consider becoming a permanent deacon. How do I know God is calling me? The more I think about it, I can see myself serving God, my Church, and my Community in this role. I lived apart from the Church for so many years and served only my needs. I am willing to die to myself and put the needs of others and want God wants ahead of my own. I look forward to more of your videos. God Bless Brother!

    I always imagined it if we're speaking of a military standard ... the Priest is like a full time officer, and a Deacon is a National Guard NCO. 😊 NCO are absolutely vital to the well being of a unit much as a Deacon is very important to the Clergy.

    • @kelly4187
      @kelly4187 3 месяца назад +2

      I would disagree as the equivalent of the commission is Holy Orders in this analogy. Lay ministers would fill the various NCO ranks, but the ordained are the officers. Perhaps the permanent deacon is the captain: to have direct command of a specific body with an objective purpose. Priests would be a major or colonel: more strategic with regard their realm of influence and responsibility, such as over a regiment (analogy for a parish). The Bishop would be a general, with strategic oversight of many organisational units (parishes and communities).

    Hello! Are Deacons limited to serving in one Church or the Archdiocese?

    • @sergiogonzalez736
      @sergiogonzalez736 2 года назад +3

      The deacon is ordained to serve the entire Church not only his parish

    • @tomasikebab9605
      @tomasikebab9605 2 года назад

      No. but they should stay in one church unless another church needs deacons.

    • @kelly4187
      @kelly4187 3 месяца назад

      Two years late, but I'll answer anyway in case someone stumbles across this.
      Don't forget that both the priest and the deacon are sharing in the faculties of the Bishop, who holds the totality of the apostolic service and priesthood. As such the deacon is primarily a servant to the Bishop, their right hand, not that of the priest.
      So they will absolutely stay in one diocese, unless the family move and they transfer to a new diocese and a new bishop.
      In terms of parish it depends what the bishop wants and needs. Many permanent deacons serve their home parish in some capacity, but many have roles that are more diocesan in scope and have minimal involvement in their parish. Also, this can change based on orders from the Bishop.
