I also love how he goes from being downright crazy through most of the film, but then become one of, if not THE most serious member of Jo's crew when he tells Jo that the tornado that nearly hit them is going straight to Wakita. The way he just silently gets in his bus, ready to leave immediately after he tells the news (when early on, someone complains that he's always late/last to leave), without saying anything was pretty awesome, IMO.
Dusty is the classic team mascot. He doesn’t have the skill or prowess of the others, but he has the spirit and charisma to keep everyone else’s head in the game. Despite Jo’s frustration with him, you can tell he’s more Bill’s friend, and has been allowed to stick with the group because, like reading the weather, Bill’s sixth sense of people informed the team that Dusty was worth keeping around. Dusty, in exchange, sees what Bill brings to the team as a leader, and has his back 100%.
@@NeoArashiThe Barn Burners (what I’m calling Bill & Jo’s team) love Aunt Meg. Aunt Meg is One Of Us to them, so naturally when they hear that the tornado that hit them at the drive-in is headed to Wakita, even Dusty, comic relief that he is, sobers up and gets ready to go because they gotta make sure Meg’s okay. The boys all pitch in to help get Meg out of her house to the ambulance when they arrive in Wakita too. The Barn Burners may be rogues, wild children, and not strictly professional, but they cannot be said to not care about people- which is why they are the protagonists of the movie, not Jonas and his bunch.
@@chrisbullard5901he still has a proper role in the team though. He's one of the two people (the other being the lady with the glasses I forgot the name of) who always seem to keep tabs of the local news about tornadoes. He's the one who announced the Tornado they chased after going to see Meg, and he was the one who announced that the tornado that nearly hit then at the motel was heading towards Wakita.
Legend has it.... That whenever the sky turns green before a tornado strikes You can hear these two as whispers in the wind There have even been supposed sightings near rest stops Of a man in denim dropping dirt in the wind staring at the horizon While another man in a plaid shirt with a cap and headphones looks around eagerly. They don't respond, but you should know That if you see these two, or hear these words Shit is about to go down. RIP Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Bill Paxton You were both "The Extreme" in life And now you are "the Legends" in the afterlife
I've always thought the sound design on this scene was masterful. How they go from Deep Purple to the William Tell Overture to Oklahoma! Keeps the energy chaotic and exciting. This movie is a gem.
We all need a Dusty on our team. The goofiest off the chain, yet most intelligent and loyal member of the team. Phillip Seymour Hoffman nailed this character. RIP to him and Bill Paxton.
Dusty was the kind of guy, as a soldier, he freaked you out in between skirmishes, but when the bullets started flying you wanted him fighting beside you.
Earlier in the film, Bill tells Melissa that he doesn't have any instinct despite having high tech (by 1996 standards) gadgets, and a bit later, Jo tells Melissa that Jonas is just waiting for Bill to make a move amd follow him.
I was 3 when this movie came out. Saw it on the old ABC Sunday Night Movies. Still my absolute favorite movie, at 29 years old. Also what made me want to be a stormchaser.
I'm watching this while the sky is yellow and green and we have a tornado on the ground doing high winds knocked my lights off slanging things towards houses🤣🤣🤣🤣💯💯👍👍
I dunno why, but I feel like I'd rather be with Jo and Bill. Not bevause Dusty is annoyong, but because it's so heartwarming to see them smile at Dusty having so much fun.
So they're making another one. Yeah it's not going to have the magic this scene had. I lived through a tornado outbreak saw the same green sky this is gold.
Great movie. But one part that people in the east forget. Yes a green sky is real. Even in Warren County seen the green right before real twister. So the remembers scare me to this day.
@user-cn1yp3gv4q I always thought he said going green as in a tornado was gonna touch down since the sky itself was green which indicates that moment.
The scene between Paxton and Hoffman brings a tear
Omg, I was just wiping tears after watching this.
R.I.P💔
Thanks for reminding me 😢
No one lives forever but they will certainly be missed
Both gone too soon
Everyone in the convoy has awesome taste in music!
Love at 1:47 how the guys is like "Eh, serves you right, Dusty, I have the superior taste in music!"
RIP Bill Paxton 🙏
RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman 🙏

Dusty's allegiance to Bill's character is awesome.

Also knew when it was time to get serious. These people had so much character
RIP to both phillip Seymour Hoffman and Bill Paxton to great actors that passed away to soon and both great actors in twister.

Bill and Phil. God rest both your souls.
Philip Seymour Hoffman was an acting GENIUS
I was always afraid of tornados when I was a kid and I’d watch this movie constantly during the summer. For some reason it made me feel better
Dusty could tell right then that Bill was truly back.
"Saddle em up."
"You got it, boss."
🔥The barn burner 🔥
Even with all his technology Jonas is still following Billy's lead
Mid 90's tech to be kinda fair but from watching Reed Timmers chanel he chases on forecast and gut instinct.
Earlier in the film, Bill tells Melissa that he doesn't have any instinct despite having high tech (by 1996 standards) gadgets, and a bit later, Jo tells Melissa that Jonas is just waiting for Bill to make a move amd follow him.

Didja go on to be a stormchaser like you wanted?
Even though Bill was no longer part of the team, he could come back and rally the troops and they would follow him into Hell. That's character
To be fair, just an hour or so earlier, they all beleived Bill was back into the team.
@@NeoArashi I think they were just making fun of him then
The moral of the story is never go back to your old life thinking it's only one more ride.
@@NeoArashiI mean, an hour before, Bill wasn’t back. Here, though? Oh yeah, he’s back.
This movie will forever be my favorite ❤

Melissa forgot about the drinks.
CinemaSins did not. 😉
My childhood and I’m only 25. Legendary movie
Child in time is the music video
I'm watching the opening of Twister in a hotel in Orlando, FL. Love everyone in the cast, especially PSH as "Dusty". Should have gotten a BSA award.
Saw it in May 1996, before my last semester of college.
love this Scene
Bill's instincts from storm chasing brough tremendous awareness to storm chasers. It also proved that high tech gadgets are still limited to this day.
Probably have watched this scene a humdred times, but it chokes me up anymore. RIP both of you.
"She did not married your Rooster"🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
ok ok she did not ONLY marry your Rooster xD
That was funny actually this scene when she said that.
I'm watching this while the sky is yellow and green and we have a tornado on the ground doing high winds knocked my lights off slanging things towards houses🤣🤣🤣🤣💯💯👍👍
Okay, show of hands, who else would love to ride shotgun with Dusty? 😄
I dunno why, but I feel like I'd rather be with Jo and Bill. Not bevause Dusty is annoyong, but because it's so heartwarming to see them smile at Dusty having so much fun.
Not Melissa, but then again, Melissa was just wholly unprepared for the Barn Burners’ whole vibe.
So they're making another one. Yeah it's not going to have the magic this scene had. I lived through a tornado outbreak saw the same green sky this is gold.
I love how all the music they play syncs together haha
Going green ... greenage
the song rusty kicks off with is "child in time" by deep purple
Originally meant to be Stormbringer but Coverdale wouldn't let it go
Both gone!
This movie was amazing! I miss them!
Honey I gotchu a lemonade!
Since I was a kid I always thought that was a waste of some fine lemonade haha 🤣
This is how I act when I load up Flight Simulator 2020 knowing that a hurricane made landfall

Love how that music STILL gets my hyped for the chase, this movie is still the shit
Bill and Dusty were like brothers. R.I.P. Hoffman and Paxton
I was 3 when this came out
Only crime this movie did was cut off that guitar solo
Agreed
Wooooo-hoooooo! Hey, you guys! Wooooooo-hooooooo!
Best scene
Whooohooo Hey you guys whoooohoooo
The general lee should have been in there it would fit into the movie real good
Yessss.
At least one of the Duke boys starred in Night of the Twisters.
Great movie. But one part that people in the east forget. Yes a green sky is real. Even in Warren County seen the green right before real twister. So the remembers scare me to this day.
Greenage
As a kid I always thought bill said “yellow and green” but he’s saying “going green”
Yes, correct...as in "Let's go"
@user-cn1yp3gv4q I always thought he said going green as in a tornado was gonna touch down since the sky itself was green which indicates that moment.
💚
Quick question. Do they get paid for doing this?
God i fucking love this movie. I hope the sequel doesn't suck.
What song is Dusty playing?
Dusty just happen to flip on child in time 3:20 seconds into the song
This scene alone is better than the entire new Twisters movie...
Its the wonder of what?
