That was simply divine!!! Thank you thank you again and again Dr Beth and Dr Steven for all your wonderful wonderful videos that I love to listen to over and over!!
I love Tennyson (and other romantic poets)! The thumbnail for this piece drew me in. After a feisty workout, I just wrapped up a long series of auditions for voiceovers and share that sensation of it having been a long day. But the more I heard about this, the more I could relate to this woman.. I always feel like I'm in some strange holding pattern where I pray, wait, and pass the time. Not so much with needlework, but her bondage and limitation are relatable. I love the detail about Millais climbing scaffolding to see the stained glass windows he recreated in this piece - that's dedication, lol. Yearning for more and for love indeed. I didn't expect to find such a kindred spirit here, but this is an amazing piece.
@@smarthistory-art-history I hope you don't relate the way I do (lol), but your empathy means a lot to me. I hope it changes for both of us.❤ And it's always interesting to hear which pieces you guys love the most! I'm curious why you love this one so much in particular, but can't blame you. It is lovely.

Lifesaver during my Bacherlor Thesis!
I think this is my favourite Millais painting. I spent a lot of time in the Tate in the early 80s, mainly for the pre-raphaelites.
Me too! Fell in love with Millais there.
Wonderful image to focus on ~ thank you!
Thank you so much :)
The stained glass depicting the annunciation?
Measure for Measure is only a comedy in the BROADEST definition of the word...
