Such a beautiful car, in spite of the the usual US auto complaints of that time. These cars really drove smoothly and were so easy to drive on the open road. My 73 Caprice had over 240,000 miles before I had to retire it due to the usual rust problems in the northeast. The engine was original, untouched, except for a timing chain/water pump. The transmission was untouched as well, aside from the usual servicing. My thanks go out to the owner of this time capsule for caring for it so nicely and leaving it original!
My favorite!! My grandmother bought a brand new white '75 Caprice Landau Coupe before it was even unloaded from the delivery truck. It was a family favorite. It was promised to me as a 16th birthday gift my whole life. I had eight months to go and she traded it for a Grand Marquis. A PINK Marquis! That's life. I plan on buying another one someday.
My dad's '75 C.C. had a 400 4bbl. Maybe that is the reason why the difference between the instrumentation. I remember the "economy" gauge and a more condensed speedometer. I gotta look for a video with that gauge. I'm sure it was just operated from the vacuum of the carbs. Great video! Thanks for letting me re-live a '75 Caprice Classic!
My mom bought a new Caprice Classic in 1975. I bought a new Camaro the same year. It wasn't long before I was parking my car and borrowing hers. This guy is not kidding when he says [his Caprice Classic] "drives like a Caddillac." Today I drive a 1996 Caddy DeVllle which has little to nothing over the ride on my mom's old Caprice. You must keep in mind that the difference between a '75 Caddy and a '75 Caprice Classic is mostly body design and cosmetics -- much like the difference between the Escalade and Chevy Suburban (or GMC) of today.
1975-1976Edit 1975 Chevrolet Caprice Classic convertibleThe 1975 models received a revised grille and taillight trim and six-window styling on four-door models. The dashboard, radio and climate control graphics were revised; the speedometer read up to 100 mph (160 km/h), and had smaller numbers for kilometers per hour. The Caprice convertible would be discontinued after the 1975 model year along with its full-size B-body counterparts including the Oldsmobile Delta 88, Buick LeSabre, and Pontiac Grand Ville. Just about 8,350 Caprice Classic convertibles found buyers in 1975.
hey Chuck I hate to be the informer of you being wrong but in 1976 they also made a Caprice Classic convertible that was the last year that was the one with the four square headlights instead of the four round headlights
I just looked it up on google and they did make a 1976 convertible Caprice Classic so believe it or not that book is wrong maybe you should notify them or something?
This style of 1975 caprice with tapered headlights was only available the US. It didn't appear in Canada until 1976 and only as a hardtop. You Americans got the last of the Chevy convertibles.
The first year for cats. The automakers were all about emissions and fuel mileage plunged. Many models were notoriously getting ~10 mpg. But you knew that!
Chevrolet labelled it a Classic, likely prematurely, but it turns out to be right. Old enough to be an antique, but with many of the things you need today for safety. A great car for a "keeper."
they do not make a 1976 convertible 75 was the last year ! if you ever see a 1976 convertible Caprice with the square headlights most likely it's a 75 that somebody swapped the front panel off of a 1976!
My brother owned a new fire engine Red 1976 Caprice convertible with a White interior and a 454 bought new in April 76 from Croton Chevrolet Croton on The Hudson NY. It had buckets and a console with power seats on both sides.
You must be blind John Skogman. The Japanese never built huge land yacht cruisers like this vehicle. You didn't notice the huge spacious interior long wide wheel base and that sprawling hood and trunk lid?
What a amazing all original Chevrolet Caprice Classic convertible! Can't wait for next incredible ride.
Thanks for the ride orley
My favorite Chevrolet of all time! My dad had a '75 Caprice Classic hard top... Sort of a brownish orange with white interior.

Hi Chuck,
A very nice video for a beautiful Clasic car ...
Crazy part about these cars is that the hard top is actually lighter then the convertible you would never think that would be so .

Not correct that the optional engine was only the 454...therer were also the 400sbc's.....here in Austria every caprice had the 400sbc

+spackmaster Chavez My source is Consumer Guides, 50 Years of American Automobiles. I'm no expert. Thanks for commenting.

+spackmaster Chavez or let it go?
Why should I let it go I was making a correct statement why don't you let it go and mind your own business
+spackmaster Chavez I do like when people check my facts. This is all a learning experience for me and I enjoy the ride.

😍!
Sweet ride from the end of the glory days.
+The Shade Tree Fix-it Man Original and unrestored at that!

Is it for sale?
LOL! It's Mike Brady's car!

I have a hard top 1975 400 sb 4 bbr. It’s in ruff shape but it run great
Miami has all of them
Cool!
thanks
Just to be clear (I think you said it three times), it is always stored in a heated garage.
Thanks for paying attention!
1976 was the last year for the convertible and 4 door hardtop in all GM. cars except the Eldorado. They made a Eldorado convertible until 1978
+Mike R I know the 4 door continued into 1976. What is your source of information for a 1976 convertible?
My brother owned a new fire engine Red 1976 Caprice convertible with a White interior and a 454 bought new in April 76 from Croton Chevrolet Croton on The Hudson NY. It had buckets and a console with power seats on both sides.
+Mike R I can't argue with that!
75 was the last year for fullsize gm rags.76 for the eldo.
Did they make the impala in this year
Antonio Smith yes they did. I owned one of these. It was a work of art.
Only for hardtops not convertible
👀...👍🔥😎🔥👍
pops roling in the donk
Nice!
Actually, not that big. Camry, Altima, Accord, etc., just as big.
You must be blind John Skogman.
The Japanese never built huge land yacht cruisers like this vehicle.
You didn't notice the huge spacious interior long wide wheel base and that sprawling hood and trunk lid?
u must be blind my current Cadillac ct6 is 2 foot shorter than the devilles of that era, and my current CT6 is huge compared to Altima etc
They also had the worst transmissions...
1976 was the last year of the big chev. Alot more white people back then too. (Im white)
OK what about that unimportant thing called the MOTOR!!??What the f**k! 350 or 400!!!???? Lame interview.its not a 454 as slow as the fossil drove.
if you listen at the beginning they said it came with the standard 350
