Exactly my problem with a Nasci purchased used. I always thought it was somewhere in the body, except the sound went away once at the workbench. Now I understand why.
Awesome tip - A BIG THANK YOU FOR THIS! I had bought a Diawa Laguna 2500 back in the early 2000's and used it a few times and it started making noise. So I put it back in the box. I toyed with it and tried oiling it over the years but never even thought of the roller - so it just has sat all these years, because it was too loud to use. The reel still made noise until today lol. I took out the roller screw and cleaned it all out in there and added a few drops of reel oil to the parts and put it back together. I put it on a rod and casted out a weight on it outdoors and reeled it back in several times and it's quiet as can be -noise is completely gone. The reel is like new! Thanks again!
A GINORMOUS THANK YOU for this video. I bought a Lews Smash Spinning combo back in October 2021 from BassPro Store. Didnt use it last year until March 2022. Love the Lews. Caught lots of monster bass. I started to get that “grinding” noise. I wnt back to the store, showed them a video of the issue, and they were not sure if the gears were bad or if i had gotten birdnested and had fragments of line inside the housing. Lo abd behold! Your vid pinpointed the issue. Kinda mad that for a new combo rod n reel, this happened. But i was able to oil the bearing and noise went away. Will definitely buy the bearing from Lews. Thank you. Edgar from Illinois.
@@CaptChrisMyers i didn’t know because it’s on a brand new reel and i figured some reel oil would work but i don’t have any so i didn’t know if any other type of oil would.
I am an avid saltwater fisherman. This bearing goes bad too often. I wash off the reel but it doesn’t seem to prolong the life. I’m now starting to add a drop of oil after washing and work it in with a few reel strokes.
Was it a Penn? Cause mine was a Penn Spinfisher VII 3500. Never had an issue on a Daiwa or a Shimano. First Penn may be my last. I literally lined it the day before 4th of July this year (2024) and thing is literally already too annoying to use. I just keep setting down and using my old trusty Daiwa BG set up. Taking it into a fishing store today. They may laugh me out of there.
Recently bought new bearings and plastic washers, replaced them but didn’t oil or grease them could applying grease or oil be the solution? But would that not affect the plastic washer but causing buildup of gunk?
my reel makes a kind of shwee shwee shwee noise but like it only does it when passing through a certain part of the range of the handle. any thoughts? it is great otherwise. it just bugs me its also not in the roller. I think the gears might be slightly corroded or something

once it starts making that noise, no amount of spray will stop it.

i haven’t gotten the part yet but holy crap it feel like you made this video just for me personally matches my problem exactly

If not broken try some general use grease instead of oil.
Worked for me
When you asked that first question and started reeling I yelled out yes like one of those damn tv ads😂👍🏻
lollll😂😂😂😂
Thank You!!!!!! I have been plagued with is problem. My roller spins freely so looked elsewhere for the noise but this is likely the problem.
Even the nosiest ones seem to have little issue spinning. It is amazing they can make so much noise.
thank you for giving me the problem however i didn’t get the solution, all i did was scrape out all that crust put it in wd 40 then add reel oil
Once that bearing starts making noise. no amount of cleaning or lube will stop it. You must replace the bearing.
hey i JUST got a new reel and I have this problem, with no use at all
Same here
@supguys2768did you fix it because same here

Thank you !! Awesome tip. You rock

All reel bearing should at least have oil. Grease is good for saltwater or heavy use. Never heard of too much being an issue.
Where would I buy a replacement for a Daiwa Bg 4000?
I would call diawa directly

its also not in the roller. I think the gears might be slightly corroded or something
Sorry, can't diagnose that one.
@@CaptChrisMyers thanks anyways. I would post a video or something but I am not gonna bc I dont have the reel with me rn
Why make the same noise even with no line
I can't undo the screw! It's stuck on!
I have had that issue in the past. Now you know why the bearing is making noise.
Maybe I’m just trying to justify me not catching any fish, but could this extra noise and vibration scare fish away?
Those would have to be some ultra spooky fish in some very calm water i would think
👍
