Hier sind gleich mehrere Meister am Werk:
    1. J.S. Bach für dieses wundervollste Werk der Orgelkunst
    2. Kay Johannson für seine grandiose Darbietung
    3. Orgelbauer Mühleisen für seinen unglaublich imposanten Orgelprospekt
    4. Der Fotograf/ Kameramann, der diese wunderschöne Orgel visuell so wunderbar eingefangen hat.
Habe ich jemanden vergessen? Regie/ Ton/Schnitt? Alles tadellos!!
    Respekt an alle Meister!

    Herzlichen Dank!

The organ is, in one word, P-E-R-F-E-C-T ... the sound is really clear, and clean... I really love it!
The organist is even better ... many compliments for your performance, I'm trying to study this piece, but I will never be able to play it like you, not even at the end of my life ... Thanks for posting!

yes, i return to this records again and again..normally it is my less liked composition of Bach. But the organ as i regard as the best in the world and the organ player lift this composition out of its dull emotionally misunderstanding...That it ZEN.

Absolutely superb playing! Thank you so much! The organ looks as stunning as it sounds. It was a mono LP recording by the late Jeanne Demessieux playing this Bach piece (in a very different style I might add!!) that inspired me 50 years ago to (attempt to) learn the organ. Listening to an organist of your calibre, musicianship and technical mastery makes wish I'd never even bothered; I would have spared myself a lifetime of frustration and despair! Peter A

It may be a feature of the song, but it is a solid and strong performance. I like Bach's organ songs played by Kay, so I'd like to continue searching for videos little by little. Please note that it may be difficult to read because it was written by machine translation.

I love how the organ is matched to it's environment and supports the intent of the organist. Wonderful sound. I find the tempo a bit rushed and not considered from a global point of view . I really enjoyed the Toccata and return to this performance just for the Toccata.

Sorry for my inadequate English. Some people criticize this tempo, "too fast." I disagree, I think the Toccata goes too slowly. Scholars think that Bach composed this pieces around 1707-1710. Do people even thinking about that we need to go more than 300 years back in time to understand the background for this composition? Bach was a young man, he wanted to impress, he loved to show off his technical skills. And at the same time he show people what was possible to play. In my opinion, the pedal solo here should be played much faster. A story from United Kingdom goes something like this(my own poor translation:) Felix Mendelssohn visit the English queen, and she asked Mendelssohn to play some of Bach's organ pieces. But Mendelssohn couldn't play because there wasn't any pedal board on organs in the UK at the time. Later on some of the organs got the pedal board, and the organists said: "You may put them there, but I will never going to use them." So almost 150 years earlier, Bach play this pedal solo in Germany! Johannsen knows much more then I do about the pedal board in different countries, I think that it was not possible to perform the solo even in France or Spain at the time Bach was young. I also criticized an another organist to play the solo too slow, her answer was funny: "This is music, not sport." In general she is absolutely right! But the pedal soli is sport, not music! How do I know that? Well, do we find a single pedal solo in his later organ works? No, not a single one!

That is my kind of flute! Just imagine the size and breath power of the Paul Bunion guys blowing these HUGE tubes! then see the tiny and otherwise sized blowing nymph chorus. Notice how close they like to dwell in veritable fore play, and then wham bam! they dance together intricate interweaving contortions, wild energetic running in ecstatic union.

A superb performance. However, I do get tired of musicians who feel they must rush, rush, rush Baroque music. So much of the intricate polyphonic, imitative interplay is lost and blurred. Just because one has the technical prowess to "play fast" very seldom properly serves the music... even though it may stroke the performer's ego.
Baroque tempi should be relaxed and genial, not frantic and hurried. "Allegro" in Baroque music simply means "light-hearted and cheerful," not "break-neck fast."

    • @larikipe940

    • @777rogerf
      @777rogerf 3 года назад +1

I agree that rushing Bach or baroque music generally is a common practice, but there were no metronome markings in the baroque era. Kay Johannsen's performances have-persuaded me that some artists have the gift, the technique, and the inner feeling required to play much faster-than others without rushing and while expressing more rather than less of the music. I would recommend listening again to Mister Johannsen's performances with that possibility in mind.

You can do this if you like! But as far as we know this was not was Bach did himself - even the use of two manuals is not "correct", but sometimes I do it (depends on the organ).
