I'm 16 years old, and I just recently ordered a straight razor, hopefully my dad doesn't become despondent over this because I love the idea of just improving on my shave quality without using crappy disposable razors. And the learning curve makes it a fun skill to flex, but also I think it looks cool! And yes, I grow a decent amount of facial hair; lately the density has increased...

@@magnoliamike I got a straight razor instead; good advice for most beginners, but I myself feel adventurous; I will get a badger brush, some artisan shave soap, and a bit of aftershave. I need to start taking care of a lot stuff, but I feel great about "adulting". Right now I'm saving up more money, working out, eating healthier, buying nice clothes from thrift stores (altercations are inexpensive, so I'm studying a bit about sewing/tailoring), and in about a month or two I'll join the National Guard for Split ops. Life is great! Still enjoying the summer before my Junior year though. Hopefully your summer is going well.

You're not allowed to use a traditional straight razor on a client due to blood bore pathogens. But I am a traditional wetshaver and I have to say using a real straight razor is a lot more forgiving on the face. I use everything Single edge, double edge safety razors, modern and vintage Gillette. I use shavettes like this one in the video, a KAMASORI, and traditional straight razors. I have a bunch of different badger, bore and synthetic shaving brushes and lots of different artisan shave soaps. Good quality stuff. I've been wetshaving since 2017 and never went back to cartridges 💈😁🤙🏻💈

@@houseofshavesbarbershopyeah exactly the very first item I purchased when getting into the old school way of shaving was the very affordable classic samurai shavette and that's what got me hooked. Then I purchase Muhle R-41 safety razor then got introduced into the vintage Gillette safety razors. Then fell down the rabbit hole lol. Started watching RUclipsrs like geofatboy, ken surfs, kevy shaves, paulhfilms, and all different types of wetshaving content on RUclips, but definitely starting out with shavettes made the transition to traditional straight razors that much more easy but there was still that learning curve and muscle memory you need to develop.
From the jump I wanted to learn how to properly hone and take care of my razors so I ordered a set of naniwa supetstones 1k 3k 8k and 12k it's really fun and totally bad ass when you learn all the old-school ways of men's grooming.

      Gillette Nacet.
      Bic crome platinum
