Apples and oranges they’re picking up tourists here on vacation and there is a process you need to follow to pick up from the airport. Did you not pay attention to what they said regarding the regulations? You don’t hear about all the crimes committed to people in general being transported by fake Uber and Lyft drivers do you? I know you feel entitled to do whatever you desire in this world but, there is laws you have to abide by.

That's true. But it's not an excuse to turn US airports into third world shitholes. If uber/lyft don't pay enough for your liking, petition your legislators to do something about it or do something else. If you want to earn your living soliciting rides at the airport, but don't like uber/lyft pay rates, get your taxi licensing and follow taxi rules & regulations.

The risks the officer highlighted are very real. On one hand, I do feel a bit bad for the drivers who are legitimately just trying to make a living. On the other hand, I’ve personally been robbed by one of these drivers, and the primary reason the police couldn’t successfully help me with my case was because the ride wasn’t traceable as it would’ve been had I taken an actual Lyft or Uber. I lost everything I was traveling with that day.

Commercial insurance is $20,000, FLL permit is $350, Broward county is included in FLL permit, Broward port is $350, the transponder is $13 and the license is $120. Plus $40 for fingerprints and background check, $75 for a local business tax for broward. You also need your LLC. Then Miami. MIA is $1000, Miami dads in general is $375, port of Miami is $400 and the transponder is $30. Plus Miami local business tax is $95 and Miami license is $220. Total for legitimate business is $23,068

Originally yes. But now Uber uses technology to offer the drivers the lowest possible wage they'll accept all while forcing the customers to pay more. We didn't have things like surge pricing in taxis. Now they've forced their competition out and they can charge and pay whatever they feel like. I've seen passengers pay $125 and the driver only got $25 for an almost hour long drive. You remove fuel and insurance from that and without a tip they're practically driving for free.

I’m an Uber and Lyft driver and the reason this is happening is because the platform is slaving its drivers with low pay and no support . They don’t care about us so people get fed up and try to do it in the hustler way . There is a way to solicit offering a ride without using the rideshare app. Open an LLC , get commercial insurance and get a few business cards , file your taxes and you are off the hook . At the end of the day we are independent contractors so if you are planning to do it outside the app, there is a right way to do it , otherwise you will end up like these folks .
