#Tekken8 #Shorts
So thats why i felt like 50% of my opponents attacks were guard breakers
Guard breakers are very rare and usually have a very exaggerated animation
Man not knowing holding down back really destroyed me thanks for the tips ❤
try to use low parry when you predict your opponent's moves, to low parry press down forward ↘️ instead of back, that way you will punish him with a combo.. better than just guarding & let him get away with it
HAHAHAHAHAA
@@youcefsaadatparrys are extremely hard to pull off in 7, is it easier in 8?
@@fightinggamerman1 Tekken 8 in general way easier than 7 in everything, combos, parry..etc they made it beginner friendly for new players
@@youcefsaadat oh cool, can't wait to get a ps5 or pc and pick it up
Got 1000+ hours of game play, learned and play every characters, familiarized with most of frame data, ranked quite high enough, but always wondered why i never be able to block low strings when i already pressing down, thank you so much. I guess I'll never stop learning
That is VERY unfortunate.
Yikes.
You musta hated fighting king huh? 😂
How did you keep your sanity intact 😭
@@seralith indeed, but not as much as fighting day 1 Leroy 🤣🤣
@Berd-Wasted. ikr, imagine a Fujin that can't block lows 🤣🤣
REMEMBER: neutral guard has slightly less pushback than back guard. This is normally not important, but against specific moves such as Paul’s Deathfist you may get a punish where one wouldn’t exist before. It’s still a risk because of how it interacts with strings but by all means know your options.
Yeah, but what he doesn't tell you is that neutral guarding while standing reduces pushback.
Some attacks (not all) are harder to punish if you hold back to block them.
I didn't know this, thanks for that!
i dont recommend doing this at all, risking getting hit for such minimal optimization is a horrible idea@@thundersquid5715
For example, a lot of Paul’s moves have specific punishes but only on neutral guard. I remember in T7 Hei could get qcf2 after neutral guarding Deathfist
@@throwawaydetective9080can he still do it? I main hei and still playing 7 imma take this tip
oh thats interesting
Learning how to rewire yourself to naturally stand block just to have Bryan mains chopping your legs apart with the age old mixup, Hatchet kick into Hatchet kick into, you guessed it, a third hatchet kick.
Tekken is pain
and the ONE time you decide to guard low, they rip the mid.
Such is the life of the Bryan backsway 50/50
real talk, a lot of openings in fighting games are usually with lows but Tekken really changes that up with Overheads being able to link in some serious damage.
I swear I learn something new everyday with this game lol
Thanks for these digestible tips!
I've played every tekken except the handheld versions and I just learned something new today
Dude i needed this
Are there any frame disadvantages for pressing just down instead of down back to block lows? I was using down to block lows since Tekken 6!
iirc this is called neutral guard, and the only difference is that its less reliable but there's less pushback
Watch the end of the short again. After getting hit by King's Alley Kicks, when he holds db, he can immediately block 2nd and 3rd hit. But when you just hold down, you cant block follow up kicks. There are more examples like this. Some strings becomes like a natural combo even though they are not. Same thing happens with neutral guarding vs holding back. When you have a back input while guarding, you recover faster.
Holy shit I had no idea neutral could be opened and you needed to hit down/back to block lows… the more you know…
Love the short tips great advice
I actually thought Ali kicks were like this that if you get hit by the first you eat the whole thing . Thank you for the tip
Tekken was my first ever fighting game, so I was wondering why I alwayze had difficulty remembering to have my neutral defense position be crouched in other games, it wasn't just me apparently, the game encouraged it.
Also wondering why I never just let auto-block do it's thing, thanks for the heads up.
Neutral guard doesn’t defend against all heatbutts, knees, elbows and all lows. I always thought it was weird to have it in the first place but it is how it is
God, I feel like a noob.
I used to always think you can just hit down. Now I know why sometimes I get hit by some lows Good video. Thanks for the advice.
For so long i thought Ali kicks were guaranteed until I realised db was a thing
I’ve always wondered why blocking in neutral didn’t always work. Guess it’s on move specific basis.
You can teach the basic of back dashing, spamming back dash works faster now (or did they change it?)
For me, the MK defense in series are the best one in fighting games by his simplicity. But Tekken was very cool due to the variety of defensive options.
Coming from Street Fighter and Guilty Gear, the stand block thing is so hard to get used to. I was wondering why I was getting launched and having half my health deleted every match 😂
thank you!!
I hold back to block and still get opened up by mids lol it’s ridiculous
You probably press back twice, it does a back dash which is vulnerable. When you get better you can back dash and cancel into a block quickly, this works with side steps as well to increase defensive options and movement.
There is no way you are just holding back and eating kids unless they are unblockable.
@@JT-km6thGood to know, thanks!
@@JT-km6th "eating kids" 🤣🤣
@@nothuman6727 😂😂😂
@@nothuman6727 meant hits
Bro thank you! I kept asking myself how tf was i getting punished when im on defense. And heres the answer. I came from street fighter so im still vulnerable to mid attacks in tekken. Sheesh lurning curve is crae
BRO THAT SHOULD BE THEIR RED TEXT. HOW MANY YEARS IVE NOT KNOWN THIS IS BAFFLING 😅
damn bro have been playing since tekken 3 but until today i did not know db was better guard 😅
U can counter low hits by pressing down+front
Dude I swear Tekken is the Path Of Exile of fighting games lol
wtf no wonder that kings low string gets me
i know damn right that you’re posting this for that one person who didn’t even know how to do a wind god fist💀
omg im in high purple ranks💀 and king always ends me with that move😭 now i know
These attacks happened so quickly that I can't even see it coming, especially from low attacks. I hate King players
I'm so used to walk and crouch that I keep getting launched while trying to block. It's so annoying.
Lows should do more damage because leg kicks hurt like a bitch 😅
Didnt know there was a differnece between guard and neutral gurad
Neutral Guard 💯
To counter back blocking with grabbing his ass
Down block blocks everything except king alley kicks. No point in holding down back unless you fighting king. Good for people who come from injustice
People who only ever played mortal Kombat: 👁️👄👁️
Anyone know what is the OST that's playing in the background please? Thanks.
Tekken 8 Soundtrack - STORM RISING (Normal)
I hold down back, but many dragunov combos still break my guard, is it normal?
in Tekken 7 just pressing down is better than down back agains certain low attacks
Neutral guarding seems incredibly pointless
I definitely thought it was the L and R button. Yes. I am dumb af.
Do all characters have this neutral guard opener?
Bro, someone told me that to black high you have to let go of black, I gotta confirm this now
You forgot down forward
In Tekken you just afk to block mid and high and only hold down to block low
does this apply to tekken 7 too?
Im a tekken player since ages
I don't know why I am watching this😂
Yeah,, so when did holding down give you a neutral guard? Must be a Tekken 8 feature
I thought you blocked by not pressing anything. Did they change something?
U could always do both
Neutral block has situational benefits coz no pushback, u might get a punish
Holding back is still better though as its instant
oh so that why i always get hit im using f*cking neutral guard
why repost
First one was cut off at the end, so we reuploaded
Is there any actual reason to just stand block?
I read another comment on here saying that neutral guarding while standing reduces pushback on some moves (not all) which also makes some moves easier to punish than when blocked by holding back.
I dont think people are confused on blocking i think blocking is pretty broken. Your char is delayed when moving in and out of blocking high to low, to the point where you cant react to a person doing something. I can see the person going for a low, press diagonal, still gets hit. Especially when its low to mid, the timming feels so off you will do the inputs and still get hit by both attacks. The game just bad.
But it want mean shit without timing 😂😂😂😂
I hate the blocking mechanic in this game so much😅
Plz help! Can anyone explain why my mids get blocked by crouch blocks? Like i swear to god people crouch block my midd but when i try to do it to their mids i get hit, even when i try to stand block last second i still get hit going between the 2 blocks. But it doesnt happen to my enemies am i just slow?
Nope u gotta kr back dash
where low parry
@itsreal85 take notes. 📝
I HATE this block system. Mids should not hit me if im crouch blocking
So you want it to dodge highs, dodge throws, block lows and mids? Genius.
@@nasknifeboi Actually I believe if you low block, throws still grab you. But most lows are unreactable, and some lead to full combos. But unless you play the game non stop, you don’t know all the characters, and characters with comboing lows are just busted.
@@nasknifeboi but you’re not gonna act like mids hitting low blocks make sense.
@@Yung_Baby_Lotion Low block goes under pretty much all throws. What you're asking for is an invincible block with pretty much no weaknesses. Care to try and make that make sense for me?
@@nasknifeboi wdym no weakness? Overheads exists. Like I just said, if you low block, grabs hit you. Crouching without blocking makes you immune to throws but you get hit by mids. Its not invincible, youre just being dumb
Neutral needs to be nerfd .
It already was 😂
You need to learn how to sidestep blocking is not needed
That's so stupid. Down back? Seriously? Why would they make it that way? Both inputs look exactly the same and don't move the character. They're different offensively, which makes sense. They shouldn't be different defensively though.
Netural block should be the same as blocking use back/down-back. Making them different seems like an unnecessary hurdle
Homie, I don't think the game is for you.
@@rofltrolflyingfish What an odd thing to say. You don't even know whether or not I play well/enjoy tekken
There is a slight advantage of neutral blocking too. You get less pushback when you block stuff, so it makes it easier to punish stuff like deathfist for example. But most of the time, holding back is better. There are a lot of strings that can bypass neutral guard, but holding back makes you recover a bit faster. Rule of the thumb is just forget neutral block is a thing and always hold back if you intent to block something.
So you want neutral guarding to guard all highs and mids without pressing any button
Are you a nugget?
Oh boy do Aris got things to say about you just as he has said to Forsen.
…Why is there a block in the game that only block some things?
Most fighting games have something similar my dude
High-low mix-ups r a staple part of offense
@@neon-lake Of course, and I'm perfectly fine with standing block losing to lows and crouching block losing to mids.
What I don't understand if why not holding the stick in any direction, or down, gives you a block that only work sometimes. It would be like if the block-button in Granblue just arbitrarily lost to attacks that uses a hilt on a sword. This just seems like it's gonna confuse casuals even more than the five billion knowledge-checks and wonky hitboxes already do.
You dont have to hold back to block just standing will block
Didnt realize so many people didn't know how to play Tekken
