Did you tape the hose that came with the unit? I just got one of these and didn't hear any beeping sounds letting me know to drain it. I placed a tray underneath the unit to catch water, but I'm thinking your idea would work better. Thanks..

I literally have the same Comfort-Aire unit that you have in my apartment. I had a super old, wood-paneled Westinghouse AC unit that would keep this apartment FRIGID. When it died, maintenance replaced it with a brand new Comfort-Aire unit that is absolutely worthless.
They are complete shit. The maintenance person whose job it is to fix these tries to tell me to my face that it works fine so that tells me that they're paid to lie about the equipment that they service. I told this guy (like I would a child) that an air conditioner is designed to blow out cold air until I decide I don't want any more cold air and then turn it down or off, not blow semi-cold air for 5 minutes, cycle regular air for 12 more minutes and then blow semi-cold air again for 5 minutes, rinse and repeat.
Dude you’re fucking awesome and I loved your review, just ordered mine as my room gets too hot in the summer afternoons! Insignia 300 sq ft. Portable Air conditioner.
Thank you for the video. I just got an Insignia today, but haven't hooked it up yet. I live in the U.S. so my unit looks different and it's white - Tomorrow I will have some help getting it out of my car as it's very heavy! And hopefully, that hose won't look too ugly in my LR window, as it's the first thing you see when you walk in the front door! My choice came down to THIS - a portable A/C or get an LG through the window installed -- I'm trying the portable first ... to see how it goes, etc Want to see what the noise level is, and if it really cools my place down. You made your video back on June 11th and wondering how you like it now? Is it cooling to your satisfaction? How's the noise level ? BTW- when watching the video I couldn't hear what you said when you got right up close where the unit/fan was --- as your mic was picking that up rather than your voice:) Thanks again!!
Think I might buy this but wasn't sure how much water the drip each day and the cold air they take back through the unit. Just don't like hanging heavy units in the window and they look worse from the outside.
I have yet to even drain this yet so it takes quite awhile before you have to worry about it, plus if it were to fill up completely it will shut down automatically so nothing bad happens.
I just got this unit and it drained water all over my hardwood floor. The manual says it's supposed to beep when it's time to remove the black drainage plug and cap, but I did not hear it. I guess the water found another way out? I have decided to leave the plugs off and placed an aluminum foil tray underneath the unit hoping to catch the water. I'm waiting for the beeping sounds!! Is there anything else I'm missing, please?
Hi Stereo- Did you figure out how to drain the AC? The unit has 2 drain plugs on the reverse and I attached the drain hose to the middle plug but nothing comes out! Really Odd cause I had a portable in NY which drained a few gallons PER DAY!
@@herbertmoon1481 I haven't heard the warning beeps. Water went quietly all over my floor. The plugs were still in when this happened. Someone said to tape a drainage hose and lead it to a 2 gallon bucket. Would that be the hose that comes with the unit or would I have measure and go to to a hardware store to do this? That hose would be attached to the bottom spout, right?
If it only has one exhaust tube then in order for it to exhaust the hot air out of your house it's going to have to pull air in from the outside for "make up" air. (Or from the attic or crawlspace.) Do they have any with a separate intake.
Someone Please help.! I want to purchase this at my local best buy and was at the store ready to get it, but the sales person freak me out when he started talking about voltage and circuit board. I only want to use this when Im live streaming on facebook games because its summer here in Chicago and it gets hot in my room. This did not happen in winter and I was fine, but I dont want to damage anything. Any thoughts anyone? At this point I use 2 fans, but still feels hot and makes me want to stop streaming for awhile until fall, but I dont want to stop because I want to grind and grow. Any thoughts on this?
All you need is a 3 prong outlet. The sales person doesn't know what the hell they're talking about and should be fired for trying to talk someone out of a purchase. Use a dedicated outlet just for the a/c and you should be fine.
