Watching these old videos just shows you how good Ali was. Joe was also something special, In fact Ali said he was his third hardest fight ever...
I've never heard Ali say that.
He said it on Facebook lol
@@simonodell2103 On Facebook...?
Even if Ali did say it, he probably didn't mean it.
Ali would trash talk tough opponents and would build up lesser fighters.
He did the same with Richard Dunn.
After knocking him down five times in as many rounds, Ali said Dunn had been a real contender...
@@ppuh6tfrz646 it's called humour !
@@simonodell2103 Humour is supposed to be funny, mate.
Wish Ali would've always fought like this, in shape, lots of punching, etc, a couple of years later he started coming in heavier and playing around, barely winning fights he could've won much easier if serious.
it's what happens when you get older and have been in many wars in the ring. One loses the desire to train, it happens to them all. Ali got a lot of favorable decisions in his later years because he made the money for everyone. If they would have made Ali lose, when he actually lost, maybe he wouldn't have fought all those fights late in his career when he was showing the signs of disease already. But, they kept pushing him out there, it's a very cruel business.
@@blite13 I don't think anyone was making Ali doing anything against his own will, I think he wanted to keep the glory and all the big paydays
@@youtoo2233 By that time, Ali wasn't thinking straight and he needed someone who CARED to make it stop. Angelo sure looks bad now, taking the money that destroyed Ali. Dr Ferdie told Ali to quit after Frazier 3. They told Ferdie to shut up and go away. Ali had to keep the money coming in because his 'management team NOI, had ran him dry. They used Ali up and he was destroyed when it was all said and done. Boxing is a horrible business, just ask Don King.
@@blite13 yeah after the Shavers fight in '77 Dr. Pacheco left. Ali definitely should've stayed retired after the second Spinks fight in '78, Ali had no business being in the ring those last two fights in '80 and '81. Glad at least Ali threw punches on a regular basis in the Berbick fight. Berbick showed no skills but Ali was not even a shell of his younger self. In the Holmes fight Ali looked drunk before the fight even started, kind of crazy eyes too, the thyroid meds made the shop worn Ali even worse.
@@youtoo2233 There is film of Ali at his cabin where he used to train, getting ready for the Holmes fight. Ali's speech was not good then and he looked terrible in sparring. But they wanted the money.....for the love of money is the root of all evil.
I met Aussie Joe when I worked at a 5 star hotel in Perth Australia. I asked him how to pronounce his surname and he replied that it was Boogneeair but people who new him called him Joe Bugger
Great boxer and a great guy.
Great Story. Greetings from Berlin 👍🥊❤️
ALI REALLY HAS SUPER-SKILLS, SUPER-POWER and SUPER-SPEED !!!!!
Ali didnt take him lightly. Great fight and great sportsmanship by both fighters
Amazing how fast Ali worked Joe out after the first round and went for him - full credit to Joe!
Can i say a bad word? Today Joe Bugner would be world Champion. No more boxers like Alì and Joe was Brit and european Champion After all. Italian people knows Joe as the brawler and sometimes helping character in many italian movies of '70s and '80s. He Is alive and well
Hh
Has anyone noticed that the fighters from this era rarely go for the body strange but true
Mohamed Ali est un boxeur honorable et respectable
What a hard man Bugner was 🇬🇧👍
Joe Bugner was no joke! He gave Smokin' Joe all he could handle!
Right on
Cool
That was one of the closets fights against Ali I've ever seen and I never even heard of that guy! He stung Ali several times in the first round which made Ali forget all about clowning around all fight like usual lol I'm impressed
Muhammad Ali is the best boxer in history. Never the aggressor. Not with intention to kill in the ring. He comes in to participate in a sport and have a clean decent fight. He takes and he gives back. That's why he's the greatest champion ever!
What does that even mean? You write, "Not with intention to kill in the ring." Exactly how was Ali even capable of killing Bugner when he didn't have the Power. Ali hit Bugner with EVERYTHING he had and only managed to cut his eyebrow. Ali NEVER broke bones or knocked teeth out cause he was Low-Power!
@@Bronco_Billy_Jack_Hills .
@@Bronco_Billy_Jack_Hills lol
@@Bronco_Billy_Jack_Hills you’ve been slandering Ali on every video showing the chanp’s performance. For fucks sake he was a heavyweight boxer. How could he stun a prime joe Frazier and knockout a prime George foreman? How could he stumble Earnie Shavers? How could he knock down the brave Oscar Bonavena? How could he TKO the rough Jerry Quarry? Your claims are silly. Yes he didn’t have the power of a Tyson but he has the fastest hand speed to compensate and in fact alis power is underrated
@@johnnysmithington3749 His fast hands with absolutely no defense left him in LA LA LAND
Bugner was as good as the best
Punching bags Ali
Could get
Into the ring
Like a Cat Playing With a Bird. That's Ali
This fight much better than their second. Lots of action. They didn't do much in the second in comparison
Blimey, Ali was really up for this one.
Didn't he not like Bugner?
Bugner was a tough guy though and had some skills but Ali had to let him know who's boss.
You have never boxed anyone like me and you never will again Joe !!!
Joe Bugner is one of the best fighters Britain has produced. Sadly, unlike some lesser fighters, he doesn't get the recognition he deserves. One of our greats.
Hi is the KING of boxing ❤️🙏🏼
The British public never forgave Bugner for ending Henry Coopers career. Fair play to him, he never shirked an opponent and went in with some of the best and biggest. 👍
الله يرحم روحك الملاكم النبيل الأسطورة محمدعلي كلاي
Bugner was not bad at all. Great heart.
Man, Ali was throwing bombs! It always amazed me he very rarely ever threw body shots..sometimes hard puches to the chest. Still damn fast at this point of his career.
yes he rarely threw body punch, I noticed that too.
He used to throw jabs to the body to set up the right hand and left hooks
Nice to See Sammy Davis Jr. at the End
No cinemas just boxing !
It was something to see Ali chasing a fighter around the ring for the whole bout. No dancing around in circles. It reminds of how other fighters always tried to do that to him. I enjoyed this clip of Ali doing the chasing. He was in great shape and it showed. Bunger was a very good fighter but not on Ali' s level
Joe was a very strong and fast fighter....had the fundamentals...but lacked balance and precision...pretty good chin considering some of the Titans he fought....I think he needed a better trainer that could have honed his strengths and corrected his weaknesses
Ali was intelligent, adaptable and FAST. That is the only reason Bugner lost because Joe gave it his best 👍🏻
Joe Bugner the only man to go 15 rds with Joe Frazier and Cassius clay.
Muhammad ali **
Two fights with Ali.
You mean the distance.
His fight with Frazier was 12 rounds.
@@kramujo7087 his mother named him cassius clay, so that's who he is.
@@debbiehenson1096 Hilariously stupid comment. So do you go around calling Audrey Hepburn “Edda” or do you refer to Kirk Douglas as “Issur”? Do you call Elton John “Reginald”? Don’t you see how silly that is? When people change their name they are referred to and known by their new name, obviously.
Both great boxers ...however ALI was just GREAT when he moved fast and was determined....great boxing match!!!!!
TOTAL BOMB FIGHTERS,they both had tons of respect for each other that's why I LOVE THE OLD SCHOOL BOXERS, they never killed each other it was a sport now everyone wants to kill
Ali's superior skills make a chump out of Bugner.
Hey remember when the heavyweight division wasn't a bunch of giant oafs
Joe did great he went the distance with Ali not many can say that gave a great account of himself no shame he was fighting a great champion
That's true
You will never see the likes of Muhammad Ali again what a beautiful individual he actually was. Follow his footsteps and you can't go wrong.
Although Muhammad Ali won the fight you could tell that he was frustrated that he didn't knock out his opponent. Joe Bugner turned out to be one tough customer. Good Fight between both boxers.
Bugner was a good fighter. No shame in not knocking him out
@@spenser6353 No shame at all. But he did predict a knockout in the 7th round. That was what I was referring to. And he didn't knock him out at all, although he clearly defeated Bugner.

Bug er was way outclassed. All I know about boxing is never bet on the white guy.
GREAT FIGHT
Bugner was a very good boxer, would've given a lot of heavyweights today a hard time. Ali was up for this one though, on a different level to Bugner here.
yeah i agree bugner was a very good boxer but unfortunately for him ali was on another level.
@@trinihammer JOE did much better going forward .
@@ronmailloux8655 yeah you are right, lets take nothing away from bugner, he went the distance twice with ali that was no mean feat. if i remember correctly i am quite sure ali talked quite highly of bugner. knowing how anti white ali could be that is saying something. incidently i saw bugner give an interview he looks pretty good has all his mental faculties about him and lives in austrailia now.
@@trinihammer Very true. Bugner was double tough and that mop of hair made every punch look worse. But he had size but lost the killer instinct after almost killing another fighter in London . This effected him in a way hard to calculate unless you re a prize fighter. Could he have beaten Ali no but he clearly lost something along the way.
@@ronmailloux8655 i dont think he could have beaten ali. but i think bugner could have beaten both tyson fury and anthony josua without a doubt. bugner's only fault is he became a boxer at the wrong time. if bugner was boxing now he would easily be heavyweight champion of the world now. however when bugner was boxing to beat the likes of ali, frazier, foreman, norton and holmes was a big ask.
Watching Ali is like watching lightweight
interesting. Ali rarely fought anyone that had the same kind of style. they're like twins.
Image is stretched horizontally. It's a shame to have such a nice 60fps source distorted so as to look unrealistic and unnatural. Can you reload without stretching the image?
Joe Bugner was always hated in the UK because he beat "Our 'Enry" and put him into retirement - very good boxer in his prime.
I wached this fight on Ptv through setlite
Wow Ali was annoyed at the end, didn't aknowledge Joe who did well to go the distance!
Bugner held his own with Ali!🥊
Ali - hunting. Joe was good. Hell of a fight.
Bugner was wild he did a lot of pushing his punches did seem to hurt Ali but overall it wasn't a bad fight it was another one in the books for boxing.
Ali the Greatest 😍
I have only just found out about Joe Bugners poor health, and was very sorry to hear that he is now suffering severe dementia, and residing in a care home, in Brisbane, Australia.
All of our best wishes, I am sure, go out to Joe and his son, Joe Jr. at this time.
Today's heavyweights could not last with either of these fighters. Ali ignored
Joe at the end of the fight he was upset that he couldn't knock Joe out.
Bugner looks a lot better than I remember. He just didn’t have many big fights in the U. S
