There are also matrices for high level work, but I've never really felt the need to use them.

There are two ways: substitution and elimination. Substitution would isolate y, making it -y=-4x + 5 which we would multiply by -1 and turn into y=4x-5. You would then plug that in to the top equation, get the answer for x, and then plug the solution for x in either equation and get the solution for y. Elimination would multiply one of the equations until a variable cancels out. In this case, it would be easier to multiple the bottom equation by 3 and have the y variables cancel each other out. You then add both equations. From then on you solve for x, and then plug in the solution and solve for y.
Third way: Put the coefficients in a matrix, and use Gaussian elimination (This is a general method that will work for any number of variables, and doesn’t depend on you “guessing” what to do with your next substitution/elimination)

Here’s the thing I am the type of person to pause a video to solve a math problem before everyone else. I am also, incredibly bad at math without a calculator. Getting through this video is a nightmare
It is actually very simple, you subtract 11 from 5 to get -6. Next you distribute to get 6x+12. Then you subtract 12 from both sides to get -18=6x. Lastly you divide -18/6=-3. So x=-3. I am actually only in middle school and can do that. I don’t believe they are cheating when they are college graduates of computer and business which both take a lot of math.

Would've loved it if the problems got progressively more advanced as time progressed, starting from arithmetic to calculus
