I remember watching this in my early teens in the mid eighties. It was shown in the BBC, if I remember. There were a lot of programs released by the Children's Television organisation. For some reason I can't forget this one above all others. Fond memories of my childhood and the beautiful Island that is Malta.
I have been looking for some nice clean old film to show my young girls on a summer afternoon, and I recalled that when I was a kid in Brooklyn in the 70's, my NY Public Library branch had a film series on Thursday afternoons during the summer, where they showed two videos back to back: a fun-filled British children's adventure series called Kon-Tiki Kids, followed by episodes of a movie called Treasure in Malta. While the former is described on Wikipedia, I could not find a copy of the actual series anywhere on the internet. However, I did a google search for Treasure in Malta, and lo and behold discovered this copy that was graciously uploaded by Anthony Zammit. Thanks a million. I hope to sit down and watch it with my kids later this afternoon.
Hi Leo, Your'e welcome. If you ever visit the Maltese Islands we can go and visit the places shown on the movie, at least those still there. I was too young when this was shot but my brother was one of the boys throwing stones at Vanni Riolo. Love to your girls and try and find some Enid Blyton movies for them.
