@@stevenkralovec Yes, I have been involved with 3 music video productions but none were operated with TC and how that reflected in the edit. It would be such a relief, especially in the edit.

It looks like the set was mostly digital in the end anyways. Most of the windows don’t even match up and it appears MUCH bigger after editing. Interesting breakdown though.

Why is this such a surprise? It’s a three minute song. Two hours with Jack Black. Acting like a lunatic is enough time to get footage for 16 videos worth of material. They could’ve shot this video in 25 minutes and still got what they needed. What you’re not talking about is the eight weeks of preproduction and then two weeks of building the set and then a half a day, setting up the lighting and cameras, and then probably a day of blocking, perhaps, even if he wasn’t just winging it a week or two worth of rehearsals, and pre-shooting visualizations to start sending ideas, back-and-forth to post production, and then post production effects for a week or two and editing and polishing etc. etc. you make it seem like they just had an idea in the morning put it all together by noon shot it edit it and then had it done before dinner.
Also, quit trying to sound, smart, emerald green, is not the opposite of peach. It’s the color of the dinosaur, Bowser, the character fool!

I’m not seeing anything to ooh and aah over here guys. I feel bad for the DP. He had absolutely nothing to work with and ended up with a bunch of bland longs on a set that puts the smell of Silly Putty in my head and kinda turns my stomach in the process. This is a Hollywood “star’s” version of mailing it in, not unlike Jack Black’s appearance in the Mandalorian this year. I feel bad for the pros behind the camera who have to put a positive spin on something like this. The crew deserves better and more interesting work, but as the saying goes, “That’s Hollywood!”
You get a performer like Jack Black, why would this take any longer than 2 hours? Should only take half an hour. 4 or 5 takes through the song of Jack being Jack then hand it over to the editors. Done.

Far too many wides - you've gotta shoot Jack Black on tights otherwise it just looks like an obese middle aged man running round in a pink room. He's better than that. He's an expressive character actor, the glut of wides shows little character - should've used 4-5 wides to showcase that space etc for that effect max. Coverage could have played-off more on the feeling and desire in the song for far greater comedy in tights, instead just an old guy running awkwardly in a room in longs. You're local 20 yo with a FX30 could've covered this better / more interestingly throughout. TBH it's a majorly missed opportunity, the viewership, securing Jack Black, and being an extension of the far reaching Mario Bros franchise is what's made it pick up 20 odd mill views on a 26mil subs channel. Sorry but it's frustrating to see the final product for all the assets and subject matter that have come together for this, even with 2 hours of filming - unfortunately I'm sure they've had to play it safe with wides to ensure they get as much as they can it in the can w JB. Pretty much a stage show covered safe.
RE: lighting, nice and done super well to counter the cast from the set, cover all marks, and to finesse on the fly

I have to be honest in that I just don't enjoy or rate the music video at all.
