There very close, especially on the clean sound, on the crunch the V-30 sounds more forward sounding, a bit brighter and not as subdued (livelier). Thanks for posting!
Been messing around with my katana mk2. Had the mk1 a few years back and thought it sounded stale on higher gained stuff like Deathmetal, black metal, prog or djent.. but from what i can tell, its all in the katana speakers. connected the ktn100 head into a H&K cab with 2x WGS ET90s. What a freaking difference. bye bye ice pick sounds. Makes me want to swap the stock katana cab speakers. I will say though, the Katana speakers are WONDERFUL for cleans and edge of breakup/crunch.
You can just install an output box or jack to plug it into any cabinet. I did that with my 50 watt. Theres several ways you can do it but works on any combo amp. This makes more sense in the 50 watt model as the speaker in that one sucks. The 100watt has great speakers already. But the celestion does have a bit more clarity. Knowledge is power!
its best when doing these a/b tests not to use any effects or we cant really get a clear view of the differences. the demo of the overdriven part was done pretty well tho
Thanks for uploading! May I ask how you recorded the sounds of the 2 diff speakers? I am assuming you recorded the guitar playing earlier, prior to running the recorded signal into both speakers.
@@soundforge8096 cool! the 2 speakers sounded similar to me. Did you notice if the V30 was significantly louder in the room compared to the stock spkr on the same knob setting?
@@soundforge8096 i have a 212 blackstar with celestion 7080s in it looking to upgrade those speakers if you have a recommendation would appreciate it... !!

The differences could be not so big, but there is at least that's how we hear it. If you don't hear any differences that's great. Means you don't have to bother swapping the speaker.
@@soundforge8096 yes, but a guy from thomann told me this is just a simulation and the poweramp would still run with 100w. Because it is not possible to turn off half of the amp 🤔 i wish you a merry christmas 🎅
@@alexandercorreus6158 the speaker would distort badly first before it ever took any damage, you would be able to hear it failing and getting floppy, it would have to be loud af to hurt the actual speaker. what you get with weaker speaker is way more sensitivity, that's why the stock speaker sounds stiff, power handing is stiff ready to take the full load, it won't sparkle until you give her the full load. more sensitive speaker will sparkle earlier taking less load, might die with full load, but who is really running a katana ss power amp at full bore?
Katana 100 only outputs 64 watts and 8ohms and less than 50 watts at 16ohms. Boss's claim that it's a 100 watt amp is simply a lie. It only draws 77 watts from the wall. Think about it.
Not really sure. We haven't had the chance to own a Katana 50. Boss says it has a 4ohm speaker. Forums say it's am 8ohms speaker. Best to measure yours first. Just replace it with the same impedance to be safe.
sounds the same. don't hear any difference! Katana stock speakers actually really good. ppl are so consumed with Vintage 30. to me, V30 always sounds harsh!
Theres a difference, but its small. The biggest difference is the vintage 30 speakers aren't as harsh, the boss katana speakers can get pretty harsh with gain and higher volumes.
Wow! The Celestion changes the WHOLE tone! So much more realistic
The placebo effect. I think the original speaker matches the amp really well. I can't tell any difference

Sounds identical. I even closed my eyes with my headphones on and couldn’t hear anything different.

We've been curious with this setup as well.
I connect my 50EX with my Roland 80GX and sounds perfect for me! Also the combination with the effects.👌🏼
The speaker in the 50 watt is the same as in the 100 Watt, just a bigger cabinet , perhaps this is the different sound you hear,

can you provide a link to the adapter you are using for the black cable, and is there any adapter that doesnt require welding

Yes, something like that. We used a Ditto looper :)

@@deigonz Nope, it didn't sound louder. In the room, the V30 had more mids and less fizz than the stock.
I would say by the video the cleans seemed about the same in the overdrive v30 seemed to have little more girth not as thin..to my ears
Yup same here. The V30 didn't have the harshness the stock speakers has.

no high gain sounds?
Perfect timing, we have a new speaker on the way. We'll try out higher gain settings on the next vid.
