I think escape room type games might be my favorite type of game. But they still don’t feel like an in person one, which I really love. I did a virtual escape room last week that felt a lot more like an in person one than the board game ones have gotten. For the board game ones, I prefer the Exit ones overall because of the puzzles, but I’ve been enjoying the Unlock big box ones cause they’ve gotten more creative and thematic. I still need to play Epic and Mythic!
It'd be cool if you did a full gameplay of one of these. I would love to watch you guys puzzle it out. I don't enjoy these because I kinda don't enjoy puzzles, but it would be fun to watch you guys do it.
I really enjoy the Unlock! series. My sister and I always do them together and, it’s funny, but we always seem to have the most difficulty with the “easy” ones 😅
Hi Jaime, that's so sweet to hear that the two of you play them together! It always seems that way for the "easy" ones! We struggled on the easy one in this box lol.
Ah, yes. Escape room games. The genre I've been playing the most lately during these times. Escape tales is probably one of my favorite titles, the replayability is quite high, considering it has multiple endings, and you're not restricted by time to finish it. It also comes with an app (a browser app, actually) for solving the puzzles and hints. It does take more than one sitting, though.
Nice sneak peek into the Unlock! series. I've only done a couple of the Exit Games, still on the boarder on how I feel about those. The Unlock! series look interesting, might have to give at least one of them a try.. Thanks!
Unlock is the favorite escape room style game of ours. We loved the Mythic Adventures box with the Animal-o-Matic being the favorite. Heroic Adventures was our most loved box, and any adventure that features Professor Noside is always a delight.
Hi Erica, no each adventure is a 1 time experience. We tend to pass the game along to a friend afterwards since none of the components (so far) get destroyed.
We haven't tried any of the Unlock games or really any board games that mimic an escape room, but they look super fun! Jeff isn't a huge fan of escape rooms but I'm pretty sure I could convince him to do one of these 😂 Great video as always!! :)
I really need to try that one. So far we played Sherlock smal card deck series and deckscape - we are not a fan of tge firs one but deckscape we really loved :)
i only tried one. deckscape: test time. it was a lot of fun. 4 of us played and we still didn't make it in time (in 60 min). it made sense, but was pretty hard. maybe because we didn't play any before and we weren't just in the right mindset for it. but i loved it. my feelings about these one shots - it's kind of nice that they are not super expensive. you can pass it to your friends.
Hi Martina, if you enjoyed that, then we highly recommend trying out an Unlock! I'd honestly suggest no more than 3 players for this series of games as everything is on a smaller scale. We always pass along our copy to friends when we finish. =)
We’ve done the Star Wars Unlock which we loved and are looking for another! It’s good to hear some good stuff about another box! Do you have any other favorites?
There's always one bad one in each box! But for me it was the intermediate one! I found the first one pretty straightforward with no issues, but had so many problems with the second one. But that's what's funny, people think in different ways and find some easier or harder than others!
I don’t think this is a spoiler, but did you have any technical glitches with machine 48? It seems that the app was supposed to use a technical capability of the device, but failed to connect to it.
Are you a fan of Escape Room type games? Ever tried one in person?

I’ve given up on the level difficulty because it never really fits 😅
Our favorite so far has been Mission #07 from Epic Adventures. Its use of mobile device technology was really great!
I can't remember if we've tried that one yet. Do you know what the theme was?
@@BeforeYouPlay You play as a team of four secret agents, each with a unique ability. One of them has x-ray glasses.
That one was fantastic!
I think our favorite was either the video game one or the boy with nightmares one.

You should! We'd recommend at max 3 players but think that 2 is the sweet spot since the cards can be small.
@@BeforeYouPlay 2 being a sweet spot is even better! Usually only really play with one other these days as it is 😁
Great review! Would you guys ever consider doing a playthrough of one of these?
We'd hate to spoil it for others though ;-(

I like that the Unlock series doesn't destroy the components like other games in the genre. I can loan these to friends if they want to try one.
SAME!! We always give our copy to our friends after.
Is there a good amount of replayability of Unlock or any type of escape room game? Thanks

@@BeforeYouPlay you don't have to tell me twice to buy a new game 😉

Naveen really wants to try the Star Wars one! We've done quite a few, we really enjoyed the Wizard of Oz themed one.
This is right up my alley!
Hope you get to try it out!

And derp, with the around the world scenario.
Please do a Splotter series.
I enjoy the escape room games..
We love them! Have you ever tried one in person?
