Serge Lama co-wrote this song. But Lara recorded a stelar performance. she masters emotional songs my favorite performer because she moves her fans . a lot of talent
Thank you for the excellent reaction and only stopping you when you had to. Perfect! More Lara Fabian please. Like. Adagio. Caruso. You're not from here. Broken Vow anymore. Thanks again for a professional reaction that took the viewer into consideration
Love this version of this wonderful song. Lara Labian and Serge Lama are very famous in France. Thx for sharing. Merci😊 ❤. A suggestion ? I would love a reaction from Sixto Rodriguez ❤. I love the man, his lyrics, melodies. Such an amazing artist. Rip 😢
It's a shame the video you watched cut off too early. Other videos of this are out there that shows Lara standing there with a standing ovation taking like...30 seconds or so to pull herself out of the song, back to reality! People all around her clapping and shouting in approval yet she is still existing within the confines of the song! Lara Fabian is more than a vocalist! She's a performer, an actress, an entertainer, and a one of a kind singer! She is a gem that is priceless!
Nobody tells stories in song like Lara Fabian. Before he died, the great French singer/songwriter Johnny Hallyday sang duets several times with Lara. He loved the way she emoted the songs and told the stories. You should pull up their performances, especially the one in the rain. There were over 1,000,000 people lining the street in front of the Eiffel Tower when Johnny's funeral procession passed by. Very similar to Princess Diana's funeral procession to Buckingham Palace. RIP Diana and Johnny we all miss you terribly. 🥵🥵
Malade, in french is also used to say that you are going insane... mind sick. Lara is my best performance of this song. She's the storytelling goddess!
FYI.. Lara carries the final note for a total of 17 glorious seconds. Her emoting of a lyric is second to NONE! I would recommend her LIVE performance of "Adagio" next. It's from the same night, in English, and it was penned by Lara. You should also checkout her Italian performance of "Adagio", it's sublime. Additionally, Lara speaks like 6 languages fluently, put actually performs and records in a total of 12 languages, including Russian. If I may, I'd suggest that you simply type a foreign title into Google translate for not only it's translation, but to also listen to how it sounds when spoken. 😉

I saw that you had done the Dimash reaction, know that Lara Fabian also composed the lyrics for YOUR LOVE by Dimash. Lara Fabian is one of the most beautiful voices in world class. His original songs ADAGIO FROM LARA WITH LOVE and BROKEN VOW are masterpieces. She also composed MADEMOISELLE HYDE with Igor Krutoy, composed the music for him and she, the music. Another fantastic piece. Thank you from Montreal.
Hi Jennifer welcome back to French songs you began with S O S by Dimash and now Lara fabian of course a song remember us how itis hard to face life as french songs '" MY WAY" YESTERDAU WHEN I WAS YOUNG and some others. Thanks for this moment with you and welcome one day to PARIS.
This song is so beautiful and moving! I've loved it since I was small but after studying french it became even more special to me. What an amazing and talented artist! I also often feel like songs speak to me more when the lyrics are not in my native language, it makes it somehow more meaningful to have to think a bit to understand it truly. I don't usually talk about it much but I also struggle with depression and it helps me to listen to songs where someone expresses their problems and their pain, but when the words are in a different language, that not everyone around me understands, it makes it feel like my little secret, my safe place to get some strength from. I hope you can also check out her song "Je t'aime", it's so emotional and powerful. The way she can express herself through music on stage amazes me. I have chills everytime.
Aisha, I understand completely what you are saying! I, too have dealt with my own Depression in the past. I get, wanting someone else to express the pain, trauma, experience with what we feel ourselves! It makes me feel like I'm not alone...In a native tongue, it sounds so much more beautiful, even as sad as it is! I will do "Je t'aime" soon! Thanks for the suggestion!
This fabulous song was composed by french singer Alice Dona, and texted by also french singer Serge Lama. This song in itself is heart-wrenching, but Lara's performance of it is as close to perfection as human can be. She is not only telling the story, she"s living it. She is absolutely stunning, her voice is gorgeous, she is so kind with everyone, and she is a very beautiful woman too. Sad to see how such a miracle can face jealousy, disdain, or even hate...

Hi Jim- I am so sorry for your loss. I can't begin to imagine how hard it must have been for you. Lara has a way of stabbing you right in the heart with her emotional little nuances. This is my favorite of hers! Welcome back!

Bonjour Jennifer, Source Wikipedia : "Je suis Malade" is a song by Serge Lama, released in 1973 as a single and on the album "Je suis Malade". Written by Serge Lama on music composed by Alice Dona. In 1969, the singer met Michèle Potier in Chamonix. Love imposes itself as a certainty, but neither of them is free: in 1968 he married Daisy Brun, his press officer, she is married and the mother of a little boy. They love each other in secret for several years and promise to recover their freedoms, but Michele hesitates and finally flees and settles in Morocco for professional reasons. Lama is desperate, he wants to put his pain into words without succeeding, until the day he confides in his friend Alice Dona: "this story hurts me, it makes me sick". Back home, at the piano, Alice Dona composes in a few hours a melody [...], which very quickly, she makes the singer listen to. It is a revelation and Serge Lama writes almost all of the text at once3. He will say later "The 80% of the song I wrote them in 20 minutes, it's almost a shame. [...] it came out of my heart so much that I [..] immediately felt that this song had something that the others didn't. ". Recognition comes for the creator of Je suis sick, in 1974, when an evening on the stage of the Olympia in Paris, Serge Lama finished the song by performing it without a microphone a cappella in front of a conquered audience which made him a triumph. Another happiness, the return of Michèle, free and together, they give birth to a boy named Frédéric in 1981 and marry ten years later8. During the 70s it is an emblematic song of Serge Lama. It was taken over by a great French singer Dalida then by Lara Fabian during the 90s. Lara Fabian is a very great Belgian vocal singer like Jacques Brel was. Daniel, EXCELLENT COMMENT! You have wrapped this little gift up in a perfect package and delivered it straight to my heart! Thank you for the great details of this song's origin!
Lara wrote the song “Broken Vow”, which is in the same line and she interprets it so marvelously. Josh Groban also covers “Broken Vow”. It is in English (Lara sings and speaks in 4 languages), so no need for subtitles. Happy listening! Lara was in her way to become another Céline Dion, but associated herself with a Californian producer who took advantage of her and ruined her career. She was madly in love with him and he ended up leaving her; she sings of true feelings. She went I to a deep depression for many years, but is now back with her tour “50”, for her 50 years, which was unfortunately interrupted by Covid. She is now happily married and lives in Montreal.
There were many factors that "derailed" her introduction to the US market. And her producers and managers certainly didn't help. I think, she'd contest your statement that it ruined her career. So would the millions of hard core fans she has in Europe, Russia, and Asia. Were that the case, she would have stopped singing and putting out albums twenty years ago. It definitely changed the trajectory of her career, though. Had all those things not have happened she would not be who she is today and we would almost certainly not have many of the beautiful songs that came as a result of all that pain. I think all of her fans are incredibly happy that she has found a man who loves her and her daughter.
The subject might be sad perhaps you may think so. However the delivery is beautiful. If you truly listen deeply it will still move you. Subtitles are not always true to the language that it is translated into. I liked your reaction - the first time contacting you. All the best to yo and yours. Rab
Hi Rab, Welcome to the Lounge! I agree, sometimes the sadder the song, the better. It just hits you so deep! It's funny that you just watched this, as last night in my Live stream I reacted to a young lady from Slovenia who covered this- and I have to tell you, I was BLOWN AWAY. She did an amazing job, Lara would be proud! You should go check her out. I will be releasing my reaction to her cover of it tomorrow probably, but in the meantime, go check it out here! Let me know what you think! ruclips.net/video/u383bOHiM_A/видео.html
@@TheSpeakEasyLounge I've watched Lara qite a few times. I had a look at the link of the young girl you sent me. She is quite good to say the least. All the best. Rab
I hope you are doing better, but you are correct: Lara Fabian makes all those feelings come to live. But what we should take from it is the power that Lara delivers her feelings with, as in they are real.
Hi Sam. She does draw our your emotions, and I think you're right, it's by her wearing her own emotions on her sleeve! Thanks for the comment! Jennifer
A song inspired by his life "serge lama" As you can imagine, it all started from heartbreak. In 1969, Serge Lama fell in love with Michèle Potier but their romance could not be revealed in broad daylight. In fact, the two lovers are married. Then, his beloved moved to Morocco to follow her career. Serge is devastated. He has just lost the love of his life. During a dinner with his friend and composer Alice Dona, the singer confides his sorrow. He's not doing well, he's hurting from the separation, he's sick. This repetition during dinner of “I’m sick” will give inspiration to her friend once she returns home. During the night, she composes what she thinks will be a hit. The next day she contacted Serge Lama. However, he has gone on tour and will not be back in Paris until September. This does nothing for Alice Dona who will wait for his return. Indeed, she is convinced that the song will be a hit. Once back, Serge goes to her house to listen to the music. He is under the spell and without a word he writes the lyrics. A strong song about the despair of a man who no longer has the woman he loves by his side. Two rebirths Unfortunately, the song is only placed on Side B of P’tites Femmes de Pigalle. However, at the end of the year and seduced by the touching lyrics, Dalida decided to record a version. Success is immediate. Not only is the Diva's version a masterpiece echoing his life, but it offers unparalleled light on Serge Lama. Many years later, Lara Fabian will sing her version of Je suis Malade. A cover marking the 90s and once again putting the spotlight on the song. Finally, the song will bear fruit, the two lovers meeting again very shortly after the return of Michèle Potier. A strong title that we like to listen to or listen to again in foggy weather...
Now you've heard Lara plus you've also heard Dimash. How about hearing Lara AND Dimash singing together as well as hearing a third singer who is just as good as Lara and Dimash. Aida Garifullina who is a well known opera singer. The song is Ti amo cosi. Here's the link from Dimash's channel: ruclips.net/video/XaQFfqC3lnU/видео.html I hope you enjoy! Cheers, Steve
I actually watched this just a few hours ago! I have to have something to watch in my "off" time! lol. This was a beautiful Performance. I thought the Ice skaters were great, but distracted me from the song...So, I had to watch it a second time! LOL. Thanks for the suggestion though!
@@TheSpeakEasyLounge Dear Jennifer, i also don’t like to divide my attention between singers and skaters. Here is very good fancam from the different angle, only Dimash+Lara and Aida provided with subtitles.

I love your reaction, you received straight to your heart the emotion supplied by Lara ! FYI you can find the version with french and english lyrics (ruclips.net/video/dVvlmpo5g9k/видео.html). And I think you should watch that other so emotional live song "je t'aime" (ruclips.net/video/qO3b-MyyTZg/видео.html), with french and english lyrics. You'll love it too ! Dom
@@TheSpeakEasyLounge Make sure to watch that particular video to the end. Lara takes about 20 seconds to come back from the "character" of the song after she finishes..
Every time I see someone reacting to Lara, they read the subtitles... Such a shame. Listen and feel! The translation isn't close to the emotions of the song... It destroys it. I don't know french (language), but I felt her emotions for years. My ticket to her concert in Marseilles has been pushed for far too long (because of Covid), but I will be there!!!
Hi Martin, Yes I saw that she postponed her concert until next year...Sorry! I watched it again, several times actually. It is about the Music, her beautiful talents mixed with the lyrics. Anything sounds better in French! LOL

Bonjour Jennifer , may i suggest to listen to this one, a duet with Lara Fabian "requiem pour un fou" ruclips.net/video/PHwIF6jmOCY/видео.html. Daniel Franchette's reaction is 100% right.
i do think this is more than depression, "malade" is sick, but also madness, and the lyrics should be translated in different ways, indeed, it's so painful that we lose our reason, the pain is so intense that we die of it, emptied of all rationality, the absence of your love becomes a deadly obsession.
So well put! For me personally, I find solace in the fact that I am not alone, in dealing with that inner-sickness. From loss of Love, of life, of identity...It's sad, but it also gives hope. Thanks for sharing!

I would like you to make reaction to Lara " Broken Vow " tks
Thank you Eugenio, I will look into it- I have a couple others in mind first, but sooner or later...!
Thanks for your insight!
Rab
Thanks for checking Stella out. I am sure she appreciates it. Lara is an Amazing and impeccable vocalist and is so emotional, I need to do more soon!
Jennifer
A song inspired by his life "serge lama"
As you can imagine, it all started from heartbreak.
Two rebirths
Unfortunately, the song is only placed on Side B of P’tites Femmes de Pigalle.
For information this song is born in 1973 and created by Serge Lama.
@@TheSpeakEasyLounge That's OK. The important thing is that you enjoyed it. Cheers, Steve
@@TheSpeakEasyLounge Dear Jennifer, i also don’t like to divide my attention between singers and skaters. Here is very good fancam from the different angle, only Dimash+Lara and Aida provided with subtitles.

Hi you should try "Ne me quitte pas" from Jacques Brel (with english subtitles)
@The Speak Easy Lounge? You mentioned Katy, did she contact you perhaps? Do you know wo she is? Very good reaction I nave been loving Lara for years, such amazing voice such amazing artist :) Karolina
It's kind of a long story. I don't know her personally, no. I agree though, she is amazing!
One of the only singers that can match Lara is fellow Canadian Celine Dion !
HI Bruce! Thanks for your comment. Celine is great too.
👍💖🇬🇧
Hi Jill! Glad you enjoyed it!
Dom
Hi Dom, thank you for the links! I will check them out~
@@TheSpeakEasyLounge Make sure to watch that particular video to the end. Lara takes about 20 seconds to come back from the "character" of the song after she finishes..
Try not to cry challenge.
RIght? She was so touching...her voice like a lulabye.
LOL
Dimash favor singer Lara wowow mind blown
Yes, she is!

Thanks for the link Victor- I'm listening to it now! is it just me, or does the French language make ANYTHING they say sound so beautiful? LOL.
Try this one from Lara, she was going through things and could hardly sing this song titled ''I love you'' ruclips.net/video/Vf-uChZXptw/видео.html
Thanks for posting. If you have a minute, I posted a cover of Ed Sheeran. As a fellow music lover, I'd love if you'd take a listen. It's on my page. Hope you like it!

Yes, you butchered the name of the song. But you are one of the very very few that pronounced her name correctly ! Bravo !

I'll check it out- Thanks!
Merde !!! ... Pourquoi tu coupes ? ..
Qu'ai-je coupé ?
Great reaction thank you for sharing 👍😉
Thank you for the kind words! I appreciate you!
