  • Legoland California was the first Legoland park in the United States and it's a fantastic park for kids and families. This is a large park with multiple themed areas and a robust lineup of kid-friendly attractions. This lineup is highlighted by a few roller coasters and some well-done dark rides. Does all this make it the best park for kids in California? I'll answer that question in this review.

It's interesting how this can be your favorite park as a kid, but then it becomes one of your least favorite as you get older, and you start visiting bigger and better parks for thrill seekers. As far as I remember when I visited in 2001, it's still a fun park for its intended audience, and part of me does wish I was still a young kid, simply for revisiting and checking out its sister parks in Florida and New York.

It's definitely interesting seeing how tastes change as you grow up. I still like Story Land and Santa's Village, but they were extra special for me as a kid.

As a local (Living literally right down the road) I urge anyone visiting legoland to also spend some time at our local village and beaches. Not to toot our own horn or anything but we have a pretty nice village with a bunch of unique and historical shops and experiences. My favorites include Handles Ice Cream, rated one of the best ice cream places in California, Spin Records, a cozy record shop, and the historic Carlsbad Alkaline Water Spring, featured on the ellen show (for real, they have it linked on their website)

Out of all of the parks located in San Diego County, this is the best children's park here with its lineup of coasters, flats, and experiences. The food here has been pretty tasty as well with my favorites being Ninja Kitchen, The taco stand in the water park, and Knights Smokehouse BBQ. I used to go here all the time from when I was born all the way to the late 2010s. I have seen attractions come and go and I would love a B&M Family Wing for the former Knights Tournament plot combined with perhaps another water park addition ie single tube slide. I have been impressed with the expansion of the hotels and the recent additions to make the park compete with Sesame Place, Disneyland, and the San Diego County Fair. Overall, a very good park for families and the west coast!

I'd love a B&M wing coaster. That would help attract older guests.

Legoland CA, surprisingly has good food...and they intended for the CA park to have the best food out of the Legoland Parks. I am sad now that my girlfriends kid is boring and only wants to look at screens and "play" video games and hasn't touched lego in about 3 years now...and we have to drag him to ANY park now...We liked going and letting him run around building stuff or running around the play area in the knights area, while we could just relax and the food there was actually good!
We would go in off season and stay at the Castle Hotel, which had a separate bunk area for the kid with lots of lego building blocks and the room itself was pretty cool. The food there in the hotel restaurant was pretty good as well. With the Knights BBQ restaurant having really good food and of course Granny's Apple Fries lol

Im curious about your thoughts on legoland florida. Did you do Coastersaurus? Its actually a pretty decent woodie with airtime in the back, and the park’s origins as cypress gardens allow it to have plenty of shade and beautiful landscaping. Which would you say is the best us legoland park of the three? It also shares a very similar waterpark to the one in valdosta’s wild adventures, due to its origins as wild adventures sister park. Thats my home park so it was kinda cool to be able to ride that giant slide tower in a place other than valdosta.

I only went to Legoland Florida once and the day was impacted by storms. I did get on Coastersaurus once. I liked the cypress gardens area in back since it was a nice change of pace.

As flying school at the Florida park is closing Maby a family wing or americas first b&m family invert will be built. It would not surprise me if Merlin got a package deal and bough b&m family coasters in bulk

I think it'd be better to put one in the central United States, either in Austin or Houston. I don't see them putting a location where there's already a Legoland Discovery Center (like in Dallas/Fort Worth or San Antonio).
