Your dad is so amazing. I love the way he's so concerned about your safety & well being. It must be great to have a dad who cares so much. He seems to have a lot of common sense. And your mom is such a sweetheart. ☺🙋♀️
You are killing it with the frequent and longer vlogs, it's so impressive! Loved the ending with your dad on the phone Etc... Há! Fingers crossed that Ru's issues will be fixed after the fluids! I'd stick with Ru as long as possible too!
Ru took you on your first tour around the states. I would go ahead and upgrade now while you are still at the beginning of your second tour, especially since Ru needs something that costs so much and could have another major repair needed soon. If you get a new car now, you could create the same sentimental moments going around the states with that car.
I get the loyalty thing... I feel that way about my old 4runner that we built out to be more of a crawler and I had to get a newer safer car when we had a kid. But I do think that it would be really cool to see you in a bigger vehicle with more space and to see what it would do for your channel. Cant wait to see what you decide and excited for your 50 state adventure!
I know you don’t wanna hear it but when you live the nomad style you have to be ahead of maintenance. Especially because now getting parts is getting more difficult! Trust me, our lifestyle are the same 😉
Go online and search "transmission problems with your year, make & model Subaru". My daily driver suv is a 2000 GMC Jimmy the rear end went out last week, my mechanic got one delivered to his shop from a junk yard. New parts are unavailable &/or so expensive right now. Plus I don't want a car note. Oh, my Sunday driver is a Caddy CTS. I say keep Ru, at least you know everything you've fixed so far. Happy trails to you, Blue & Ru.
Your dads right. As you were walking around mountain road in WA state a cougar can be stalking you. Also there were 43 fires in a circle all around the state last year. The Canada had their own probelms with fires. It's not about you STARTING one, rather it's about an ember from far away landing near you and is your rig able to get out? So if your quarts are leaking pop then in a gallon zip bag. Keep yer fluids handy.
Just discovered your channel. Love the content so far. I know this is an older video, as i decided to go back and check out the older stuff,... but plz, if you're reading this, keep that beautiful long hair pinned back when working under the hood of your car while it is running. Would hate to see you lose it!
Likely a linkage issue or there are bushings in the transmission mounts that wear out on Subaru either are not all that hard to replace. You can prevent car problems by not naming cars. Its a sign of attachment to something that is mechanical and ultimately will wear out
Okay we're talking a long time in the past. On a clutch on a manual transmission you have two cylinders on which hydraulic fluid is passed through. Number one you have your master cylinder which is directly connected to your clutch pedal. And then you have what they referred to as a slave cylinder which is down underneath inside the transmission which is what releases the fork with the throwout bearing directly connected to the clutch. It's possible that the slave cylinder experiences the most amount of pressure
Do the safest thing. If it's not fixed after trying then it's risking the safety of you and Blue , if that means you'll get stranded somewhere out in the middle of nowhere or even on a busy highway. I'd weigh those options. Safety is paramount
“Who needs a working transmission when you have coffee?” Yeah, that’s my approach to pretty much everything in my life - coffee is life LOL My first car was a hand me down 2001 Ford Escape that my parents gave me that they bought brand new, already paid off, so all I had to do was maintenance. That car got me across the country, went on several road trips, got me to school and back, etc. it got to the point where I was fixing stuff and as soon as I would fix one thing, another problem popped up almost instantly. As sentimental as I was towards that car, I knew I had to let it go and let him retire completely. I now have a new car that makes me feel so happy to be mobile again. The good memories with my first car will always be there. Go with your gut. I think you will know when you know that’s it’s time to let Ru go ❤️
Don’t freak out just yet! My forester did this and it freaked me out for a while until I realised it only happens if I try and shift out if 5th gear doing 70km/h or under so now I avoid that and everything’s fine 419000kms on the clock and were doin fine 🥰 there’s also this gearbox additive stuff called Nulon g70 and it’s amazing, many mechanics use it and swear by it (I used to work in automotive) absolutely try this before you go to a mechanic or if you do need a new gearbox could you potentially get a second hand box? It would be so sad to see you get rid of ru but if he’s going to be a money pit then maybe it is time to kick him to the kerb. Love you, blue, ru and everything you do 💕
Hey I'm new to ur channel I love it so far hopefully ur road trips is going better . So did I fix ur car yet? If u ever have car questions feel free to ask I'm a mechanic here in Seattle wa ... hopefully u enjoyed the weather here
I rebuilt my engine on my silver bullet ie grand prix bc I loved her so much. I cried another time when I had to get rid of my Nissan 200sx so I totally understand. Also I will eat a certain food until I get sick so u r totally fine lol. Good luck
Hey, No need to check manual Transmission Oil on Working car. Subaru is actually one of very few Cars with manual that have a dipstick. Might be the fork. If Changing Transmission I'd go for some imported one from Forester sf with dual range. Swapped minę września with one of them.
Oh man---get a 2023 Toyota 4runner---ya just cant go wrong with them, some people put 300-400 thousand miles on them an they just don't die, and they're so simple to work on, just about anyone can work on them. I have a 2017 Taco-- just had inspection (Jan 6, '23) an original brakes are still good- no need to change--( i live in NYC and drive truck every day! an road trips to Texas an down south) never touched the brakes in 5 years and still good!! Oh shoot, I see yu got the Defender--- ok happy motoring !!!
I’ve been eating sausage biscuits 2 times a day for like 6 months. This is my 30th favorite food in my life. All other foods taste like cardboard. I stand in solidarity with you 😂
My first time seeing your channel, just today. Looks great and blue is cute as hell too. Has everything to do with your finances, do what's good for you. good luck going forward ...where from in Michigan thumb area here
I thought you had a sealed transmission. No dip stick. Anyway just drain out old fluid and replace with new ATF with the same amount of the bad fluid that came out. Roaming Reckless is cool!
Um eighth I think 😄. Hopefully all you need is the fluid changed and there are no other issues. It just seems, with me anyway, when one problem starts then another one pops up shortly there after then it snowballs. I'm thinking that's all it is fingers crossed 🤞. Love to hear it is cool enough for a jacket. It is mega hot and humid here so enjoy I'm jealous. Enjoyed the video haveva great day you and blue and I'll be on the lookout for the next.
I would simply change the clutch fluid and try and find the leak. Since its a manual should be simple repair.I would simply look at the costs for repair going foward and the cost to replace for when to jump ship. It's normally not much to keep it going and get a few more miles but if it's got alot of mileage then it's worth looking as other things like shocks springs rotors brakes tires ect start to really add up in cost.
You are a beautiful lady in a dangerous world out there. You need a vehicle that won't let you down in a bad or unsafe area. I hope you carry bear spray and a fire extingusher which can be used in several ways as a weapon. I'm a big fan of hand guns as well . A newer suburu AWD would fit your lifestyle better . With a good set of all terrain tires. For your front bumper , a zip tie and drill is good . also I suggest a come along and extra tow strap . You are very brave and I love your video's and admire you . I don't know your financial status but get the best you can as your life might depend on it. Keep on rockin
Same feeling about my car who is having some problems atm... I know i will have to change at some point but it's so weird to think about hahaha... I do get attached to things too... I think it's sweet
Replace Ru? Hmmm I would normally say that it really depends on how many miles are on him? But with the price of new and used cars right now I would definitely baby him along for at least until mid next year. It sounds like you just found your shifting problem and replacing him wasn't a top priority before so that's not justification enough for such an extreme change. Nothing but love. Be safe
also I want to make you aware of a group called 4x4 rescue that has members in every state that will help you for free if stuck or having problems where you can't get out
New rig versus keeping Ru??? I’m a realist and nobody can make that decision but you because you know your own finances. Maintenance isn’t cheap but neither is a new rig with new headaches. You got this.
secret to jet boil into use a lighter. make sure that you have lighter on right next to where the flame comes out then turn on gas. will save you from that nasty explosion you just felt with
lol I'm just catching up on all your vids...I was just wondering how many people were yelling at you to tie up that beautiful hair when checking the fluids while car is running 😀
I hear you girl on the car situation. I have a 2003 Mazda 6 2.3 l that I bought brand new in 2003. I have 217,000 mi on it but I know everything that has been repaired on it so therefore I know what's in it. Not too long ago about a month or two ago the check engine light came on and I must have went to four mechanics and kept paying for the diagnosis check which is $100-130 to find out what it is to only be disappointed and have them not figure it out and cost me money unnecessarily. Actually one car place ended up costing me $420 and all they did was reattach my ground wire. So I'm 63 as of today and retired and I thought I can't be spending money like this unless it's to actually repair what the problem is. So I started taking matters into my own hands and found out what the code was for the check engine light for free at carquest. I started googling all the items that it could be and it ended up being six different items potentially. I started looking up on RUclips educating myself and a lot of these items were so simple and so cheap most parts were from $10 to $30. I slowly started replacing each one that I knew I could easily put on myself without any problem. Granite I did have to buy some tools because I didn't have some tools to take off the old part and put the new one on. But I ended up finding out the problem and it was a $10 part. But up to that point I had spent quite a bit total with going to mechanics buying parts myself, tools. It ended up being $1,500 most from mechanics that did nothing. Knowledge is powerful. But now I know after replacing all these small parts which were about five of them I know now I won't have to replace those in the future. I'm trying to hang on to this car for as long as I can because the outside and the inside still looks incredible. I've been the only one driving in it and the back seat looks brand new. The outside has a few tiny little dings from rocks but no dents still looks great for being 19 years old. I'm hoping to get 250,000 to 300,000. It's frustrating but all in all the years I saved car payments from paying for only one car in 19 years I am happy. You will have to figure that out which way would be better. Good luck 🤞
loyalty and sentimentality, with a strong sense of practical logic, I think you will make good decisions no mater what, because at least you take the energy, to let yourself be aware of all the right emotions and inner thoughts . hoping RU is ok and the fix is easy 🙏,
Winter.. I eat Apple oatmeal /Honey B.P and add extra crumbles of granola All winter. Can't help it. Once spring hits around my BDay April 4th.😉 I hate oatmeal. But still crave it until October/ Autumn time.
Your transmission fluid is clear so you don't need to have it changed maybe just topped off don't pay all kinds of money when you don't need to change your transmission fluid because it's very clear.. You would only need to change it if it was really dirty like dark black..
I think it only makes sense financially to get a bigger, off road rig. It may be more money out the gate but overall you’ll definitely save. Just getting a new vehicle and being able to complete the road trip in a timely manner will earn you more money because you’ll be able to continue vlogging (at least that makes sense to me? Lol) and getting views to your channel. Not to mention, blue would be so happy to be able to sprawl out in a larger vehicle..you too I’m sure 😆
I am just eating eggs every day with bread. Sometimes I put jam on the bread to change the taste. Eggs with yogurt. Scrambled eggs. It's an all egg diet. Especially after my mom died. Spirit likes chicken wings though.
Just my .02 but maybe this could be a new subchapter in roaming Reckless where you only travel the blue highways. There's a book called Blue highways by William least heat Moon and it came out in the 80s and he wanted to travel the United States but only on the blue highways. Something to think about
You are such a humble and beautiful woman I wish you'd venture back to Wisconsin and possibly meet up, I have been to about 39 of our 50 states and would love to converse with you and compare stories.
Just my two cents but I say don't put any more major money into ru. I was in the same place you were but it was a Toyota Camry who was at 400,000 miles and every six or seven months I was putting in at least 500 or more. The reason it was hard for me to decide was because there were so many other good parts still running very well, but in reality I don't know how soon they would actually go out. It just felt that way. So I am on the side of put Ru out to pasture, give them to or sell him to a teen who was only going to drive back and forth to school in the same city where if something happens they have plenty of people who can come and pick them up. It's time for a new chapter
Too mean to be eaten by a bear…🤣 BTW, I have a 2004 xTerra (Sara) and I am limping her through the states and documenting, as well. The first thing I thought of when you said “replace,” was I wouldn’t say that in front of her. 😉
Manual transmission oil you do not change actually, the older the oil the better, it's not like auto boxes that you have to change. Anyway info probably too late.
Maria you impress me with your car knowledge. I dont think a slave cylinder would be more than $200. As much as I would like to see you in a new 4x4 real world gas mileage will probably be alot less than Ru payments ,insurance, normal maintenance will be way higher not to mention tires. I know your smart and you are informed but high prices of these items still piss me off. Which ever way you go I wouldnt want a knew car to ruin your fun finacially. Great video
The advantage of an old car: the cost to repair are still cheaper than a new car. The advantage of a new car: you don’t get stranded in remove areas far from a town or if you need to get out for safety. You really need a reliable car for your safety and your dog.
@@roamingreckless I gathered it would be a “newish” car or less mechanical problems. You travel solo with a dog. Sometimes in remote areas. Your safety is a big factor. Even if you need to bail out due to bad weather. A reliable vehicle is a must.
_I love your dad at the end! lmao Hell I would have changed you trans fluid for free if you were in WI._ Safe travels.... please don't catch on fire or get eaten by a bear! lol
My advise, start looking for another rig, transmissions will new VERY expensive, and it will not get any cheaper. Not sure how your on the financial scale but, doesn't make sense to keep spending CA$H. Time to make new memories with a new rig.
Obviously fix Ru, save up for something bigger that you find at exactly the right time and keep Ru as a backup. All of the people talking about "safety" and cars being "dead" or "alive" don't know what they're talking about. I can tell you already know this. Sorry I don't blame you for getting algo comments, just annoyed at most people not knowing what they're talking about. I'll be okay, just need coffee 🙂
Subarus are the bomb! 🥰 My bestie just got one. I was so excited for her! 😁💗 My clutch resovior to my Honda is low, too. So sometimes it is hard to change gears. I need to get the money together real soon to change out clutch fluid. Your baby Ru will keep going! I know it will ❤
Being from Michigan do you listen to Eminem? If you do check out ‘music to be murdered by ‘album bc he has some genius double/triple entendres in the whole album.
Probably the best piece of advice I can give you is to get an actual manual. You can buy them at almost any auto parts store and have a complete diagram of the manual for your car. Seriously, that's probably the best advice I can give you. You would probably be very hard-pressed for anyone to argue with me on that point. And Maria I think you're one hot smoking gorgeous babe just to set the record straight
Hey sweetheart listen to going back yuno way way back when you posted this and ask this question you have a manual transmission on this car? I don't know if you don't you know automatic transmissions aren't that complicated you could probably figure it out and we build it yourself. And as being as beautiful and as sweet as you are I'm sure you can find somebody who knows his or her way around and automatic transmission to finance and help sponsor a rebuild. Let me know I would do that for you
Invest your money on RU. You go off-road and travel long distance and to having something new it will bring a higher stress level and probably have monthly payment and higher insurance. Spend the love on the RU
Loved the ending with your dad on the phone
Etc... Há! Fingers crossed that Ru's issues will be fixed
after the fluids! I'd stick with Ru as long as possible too!
I Love it! Dad loves his baby girl.❤️❤️❤️👍😊

Very true.
Your dad always being concern for you is the cutest thing on this planet. IDK why im crying LOL
love how genuine u seem! and that u face problems w a positive attitude and a smile on ur face 😆🥹

I know you don’t wanna hear it but when you live the nomad style you have to be ahead of maintenance. Especially because now getting parts is getting more difficult! Trust me, our lifestyle are the same 😉
Love your Dads sweet concern!!! Reminds me of my Dad!
The last scene lol you’re blessed to have a funny over protective dad❤️ the girl asking if you smoke and you’re in Twilight land lol
I was wondering if he knew he should be worried about werewolves and vampires too, not to mention Big Foot

lol I'm just catching up on all your vids...I was just wondering how many people were yelling at you to tie up

I don't understand why this channel isn't larger by now. I'm an avid watcher at this point😂

Do you have a “no bake cookie” breakfast recipe? Like how much pb2. I grew up in Michigan and love no bake cookies.

ALWAYS TIE YOUR HAIR. YOU DONT WANT IT RIPPED OFF. PLEASE!!!!
I’m thinking Ru has run the good race and now he’s ready for a rest, new rig it is!
Also hair in ponytail please while under the hood. Love ur videos I want u safe
The transmission oil is supposed to be check right away, not! 10 minutes later wile the engine is running
So true. Everyone telling me to do it for blue is definitely swaying me 😂
I am just eating eggs every day with bread.
Something to think about
Oooo! Maybe after the 50 states I will!
Sounds like you have a linkage problem. Seeing as you have a manuel transmission.
The gear oil is most likely leaking out of the cv axles. That must be a really slow weep we topped it off back when you were in wv
My CV axles are SO annoying. Had them replaced twice since I’ve been in WV
Love you too ❤❤❤
Get better Ru!
Get a Haynes manual for that car too!
How'd you get the jet boil to spark unlike last time? Switcheroo'd a new one?
Yep. Went to REI, it was in the last vlog
@@roamingreckless looks like I'ma have to watch another episode I missed 🙏
Piezo ignitors fail. Just use a match.
add dot 5 break fluid it stopped my leak in clutch
Maria you impress me with your car knowledge. I dont think a slave cylinder would be more than $200. As much as I would like to see you in a new 4x4 real world gas mileage will probably be alot less than Ru payments ,insurance, normal maintenance will be way higher not to mention tires. I know your smart and you are informed but high prices of these items still piss me off. Which ever way you go I wouldnt want a knew car to ruin your fun finacially. Great video
Lol dads are always worrying mine is the same way. And theres no way i woulda turned down the offer of free weed
Blue would like more room. He told us you just didn't hear him.... Go Van!
We’re not van people :/ I want more off-road based
@@roamingreckless get a Quigley or other 4x4 conversion
@@christianb5110 lol Christian you know how I feel
The advantage of an old car: the cost to repair are still cheaper than a new car. The advantage of a new car: you don’t get stranded in remove areas far from a town or if you need to get out for safety.
You really need a reliable car for your safety and your dog.
I won’t be getting a “new car” I’d get a super old restored vehicle, but I get your point. Reliability is my main concern rn
I’ve been on a coffee kick! And oatmeal kick with ya girl
I know it will ❤
Dang! 🤣
Ru just wants to add some drama ❤️
Being from Michigan do you listen to Eminem? If you do check out ‘music to be murdered by ‘album bc he has some genius double/triple entendres in the whole album.
What's Ru's mileage?
"Do you smoke weed?" So random...LMAOOOOO😄
Who is your Cell Carrier and how do you have WI-Fi ??? I Need Help on This One. Thanks! Good luck with Ru!
More Dad calls in your vids! 🤣🤣🤣
He’s hilarious
"Maybe that'll hold us over until...."
I don’t know what I would do, but I remember several years ago you did get a new vehicle, for like 2 videos. Lol. 🤷🏻♂️
Hahahaha the rav4… good times
Hey sweetheart listen to going back yuno way way back when you posted this and ask this question you have a manual transmission on this car? I don't know if you don't you know automatic transmissions aren't that complicated you could probably figure it out and we build it yourself. And as being as beautiful and as sweet as you are I'm sure you can find somebody who knows his or her way around and automatic transmission to finance and help sponsor a rebuild. Let me know I would do that for you
If your clutch master cylinder is low your slave cylinder might not be fully disengage your clutch.
But wouldn't that affect all gears not just 5th?
So you where in Forks and your dad talking about forrest fires and Bears bug not warnig you about Vampires and Werewolves 😂😂😂😂
No Headlamp? Girl!!!
Omg… I do have a headlamp 🤦🏻♀️
Uuu creepy woods,,😲
You are so beautiful!I just started watching your videos they are awesome to watch
it's the dog from the cupcake meme
If I was fortunate enough to come across you could I hang out with you or would you tell me to get the hell on. 🤔 I'd bring coffee...
may wanna put the hair up next time under the car. wouldn't wanna get it caught in the fan or belts, it hurts
Nice channel.
Invest your money on RU. You go off-road and travel long distance and to having something new it will bring a higher stress level and probably have monthly payment and higher insurance. Spend the love on the RU
Get to a big city find a high rated private repair place, and he might find a used transmission
