Cold Viking(Editor) and I would love to hear any thoughts or constructive feedback about videos like this one as well, feel free to leave all your thoughts here and we will read them all! This is a new experimental format for educational videos.
I watch your stream and videos all the time, this is enjoyable as well, and I know if I want to watch full game play you have them on your channel. Keep it up!
I really like this style. It makes it clear what you are trying to do, while explaining why you think this is the correct decision. Its easy to forget that HOTS has elements other MOBA games do not, and people don't always realize the fundamental differences between them, so many people focus on team fighting way more than they should in HOTS. It is appreciated when you bereak it down into basics for those who are new
IMO for quite a lot of maps in HOTS: Macro(exp)>Forts>>Pressure(camps/lanes)>Proper lossless ganks(2v1)>siege(any building dmg in general)>pick-offs(3/4v1)>Bosses>Map objectives>Teamfighting>brawling. Any opinion on this @fan? Loving the map guides man, would be great to implement some kind of priority list like mine on each map. (with more explanation than I did)
I'd like to add something a lot of people lack and which is not easy/apparent to see: Quick decisionmaking/fast reactions. If you choose to try to get a pick-off, mount up midlane right away, go fast, if you see botlane backed off which makes it unlikely you're going to kill that person or gives the enemy midlaners the opportunity to catch-up. Back off quickly, get midlane exp quickly and asses+change priorities with haste. Don't idle in botlane, don't jump on the botlaner without being able to kill him or whatever. APM (Actions per minute) Are farrr underutilized in HOTS.
@@nicholasleask1159 I'd start by explaining why they are more important. I'd say they (camps) aren't as important in hanamura as in other maps. Reason being they are just there to distract the enemies and make the enemy think the objective is more important rather than the lanes its selves. As you can deduct, it entirely depends on what kind of enemies you are facing, depending on their ability to quickly clear the elite camp, it might actually add more value. And perhaps the timing of the camp might be more crucial, or the frequency of the camp might be more crucial.
2 years late to the party. Hana shopping cart is ~19-22k siege in ~30s if uncontested (several minutes if contested). That's roughly 650 dps MAX. That's the damage you can lose by allocating heroes to push it to make it a zero sum outcome. If you send more than 650 dps in heroes, you actively lose damage. If you send 5 heroes, you can just afk at base for the same result. Your team has ~1000 dps early game, so you are choosing to do less damage on purpose IF nobody stops the cart and you can just run through. If they stall it, you lose far more. The ideal outcome is if a Viking pushes the cart solo and doesn't get contested. The main problem about sending someone solo is that you lose that hero everywhere else on the map, giving your enemies a perfect shot at killing everyone in 5v4 / 4v3 /... fights -- or that solo hero gets ganked. In addition to actively losing damage (you thought this was it?), you're also actively losing all XP on the map, setting you up for defeat at the hands of a stronger enemy if they play right. In addition to the active loss of damage on structures and the active long-term loss of hero power, you also often lose the opportunity cost of camps. You can often do vision when on the cart but not Sentinel and Turret. Moreover, if your enemies abuse your team being afk, you also lose the defense against their push. If their solo laner goes core, you lose all your buildings. A solo laner can usually get fort easily if left alone. The cart gets a wall and some damage on fort. This is why the shopping cart sucks major balls. Also, it's hella boring but whatever.
I really enjoyed this - short, sweet, to the point, pretty dense with information, good editing. I know it's a bite-size edit of your stream, but I much prefer your style of delivery as opposed to the ramblings of NotParadox.
@@rafael6693 NotParadox is really good. He even delves in to the psychological-play which I do enjoy... But... To equate him to someone in the Tech RUclipsr spectrum, I'd almost lump his style with Buildzoid - pretty free-form, he tends to go on tangents and ramble.
@@rafael6693 i watch both and for me this was better because It felt more loose and casual. It was also shorter yet very informative. I learn alot from watching fan play as well as for the lulz moments. Now for me I still watch alot of notparadox and prefer when he does the do this not that shorter episodes compared to his 30minute ones. His videos are very detailed and informative and helpful and what I usually watch for hero guides. I also watched some zanehyde and jhow guides recently as well. I dunno maybe it's just me but this video felt more like a casual study tutor session and not paradox like a classroom course. Both are good and provide excellent information.
Please more videos like this!! In a recent video, you said that a lot of people know how to play their heroes but not how to play the game. I'd love to see more videos where you dissect macro play/ strategies, cause we all know your micro is flawless
really explanatory and gives a good insight into your decision making in a game, compared to the potato mentality of 5v5 fights over obj and forget doing anything else
We absolutely need more of these. I watched a ton of Fan videos and he always has amazing tricks he says out of nowhere or because of someone in chat asking. That Anub analysis video and this are great. I'd love to see more for other maps or specific heroes.
These videos are EXTREMELY informative and clear. I would LOVE to see more of these based on the other maps. The minimap zooms to let you know what’s going in the game and why you’re doing what you’re doing is awesome and the editing is excellent. Definitely more please!
This video was amazing!! I watch Fan daily and learn tons, but having it edited down like this to focus on the Golden nuggets was is an awesome teaching tool!
The numbers on the screen and the zoom ins that corresponded with what you were talking about was a really nice touch and made me feel like I learned something even though I already watched you play this game. I enjoyed it very much
Awesome video! To the point AND entertaining. Could you guys make one on those kinds of maps where you need to split up to cap two objectives at once, like dragon shire or braxis holdout?
Instructional videos like this are always appreciated. Most of the players are in silver and gold league and the fastest way to improve is by understanding all this macro aspects of the game. If you add to that this wonderful editing, which is absolutely fool proof, then you give us everything we could wish for. If you want a suggestion make videos like this for every map and create a nice playlist (which you already did) and then if you will do Hero guides i suggest you to create a different playlist. I wish you well.
The quality of this channel is improving steadily, damn nice job! Tiny things such as he "sidestep king" intro are minor but meaningful details. Very, very good job, man!
Easily understandable and concise information. The editing is done really well too. You could solve that by zooming in on the minimap and supporting the info with arrows. Thanks Fan & Cold Viking. You're a great team!
Thank you editor. Fan's Twitch stream has alot of educational content, and he answers chat's questions about the game. It just doesn't translate to RUclips as much as we would like, hopefully you get good feedback and we get more like this.

As a certified potato, I fully endorse the Big Red Circle Theory(TM). Long before I even knew the names of the heroes I was fighting, let alone what they could do, I was regularly sacrificing many a team member to the all mighty and unknowable red shapes, the bigger ones especially.

One of the best videos i've ever seen (sorry 4my potato english)
As a certified potato, I fully endorse the Big Red Circle Theory(TM). Long before I even knew the names of the heroes I was fighting, let alone what they could do, I was regularly sacrificing many a team member to the all mighty and unknowable red shapes, the bigger ones especially.
nice vid man, always love such quick informative videos that helps me improve :D
thx 4 the work man!
keep up the awesome work!
Good video. Valla FTW!
excelente tutorial, ojala te de la inspiración y ganas para hacer lo mismo con el resto de los mapas y con distintos heroes colega, 10/10.

Like bonus material on a dvd. Dig it!
