Bricks is def the future for builders. For me as a full stack coder a game changer. Finally I can work visually just as I would code stuff, and best of all, it’s so fast and renders lovely output. And it’s just in version 1.5. That’s insane.
I'm binkoanter from France! Your ability of discussing Elementor parts is amazing and nice to see when essentially need the basics!
In Bricks there is a lot to discover, you've just scratched the surface of it, and it will need a little more of a developer thinking to understand why Bricks does things like they did. To me, it makes totally sense and for me Bricks is more intuitive with some things than Elementor is. Also, the way you can use CSS in Bricks, you have not seen or noticed, I guess. You can set “Global Styles” and give them names.
I give you an example, maybe you can follow. Since 10 years ago, you have walked to the next street (parallel street behind the houses) left around your street to get to the other roughly middle. Then your neighbour says, why you don't go right around, it's a half mile shorter. It will feel different, odd, weird, but if you would walk the next time always right around it just starts to feel more right, probably. And that's what it is, we have two products, two options and have the freedom to chose what we want. For me, as I'm super curious about it, is the Bricks builder for now.
This builder is developing by leaps and bounds with each update. It's a joy to use for developers- no lagging or loading times while the builder starts. To me, one of the most underrated features is the remote templates, which makes transferring designs, or entire websites, a snap. No importing or exporting, just link up the destination and all the layouts are there. One thing I haven't gotten to work as well as I'd liked is the Gutenberg - Bricks data interchange, but perhaps improvements will come in the next update.
Good points
This how the new page builders hsould be reviews. I have the bricks since Jan 2022, but never used it or like other tutorials. I liked how you take us through the process as first time user.
Fresh eyes with a fresh mouth :)
i also love Elementor but big fan of Oxygen and Bricks. Both of them produce very clean code. You can actually add a div that is just a plain div. Anything you add in Elementor automatically gets dumped inside 3-4 layers of divs. If you want a clean code base then oxygen and bricks, maybe zion and cwircly are the only builders that do it.
You can have the live web page on one screen and the editor on the second screen. When you save anything on the editor, it will automatically refresh the live web page to show the latest result.
Great for working and seeing your results quickly!
Nice one.
Used 6 months ago, comparatively to that time it's become a beast!!
Agreed, and they develop and implement the roadmap really fast!
Thanks for this Imran ! I have now bought the Ultimate version, as an "investment", just like I did with the Elite plan (1000 websites for $199) with Elementor (and I'm so happy now to have done this !).. So I cross the finger that I'll be as happy as with Elementor...and if not, the cost is so ridiculous ;-)
So true
Love this!
I was watching!! I burst out laughing ... sorry, please continue :P
Great video, i played with Bricks for an hour or two earlier and it's interesting for sure. For the life of me though I couldn't create a gradient background for a page lol
Takes a while to get our heads around it
Im really the same boat. I can visually when using Elementor but with Bricks not there yet, And yes, Bricks gives you Primary, Secondary styling for buttons idk I forgt how many styles can you set without using the class system but it is possible.
Great video walk through of first time use. Correct me, but doesn't bricks have a scroll with right mouse to rotate the numerical change setting rather than manual enter or click on up down arrows? For instance , change font size via right click and move up.
Aha, I might try that.
Freat stuff as always mate I have issues with some styles in 1.5.4 but I guess it may be me :)
It’s weird right?
Some stuff I would like to see as a feature but you need to add css. Whereas some stuff is out of the box like the header scroll settings.
Bricks Builder really has a great future.. the team works hard.
Agreed
Most awaited
I think we’re missing the fact that Bricks is offering a 199$ unlimited websites LIFETIME license. Elementor NEVER had a lifetime anything. This makes this deal so much mor compelling
Hey Imran !! I'm wondering is paid membership pro able to use with bricks ??
Indeed yes as it’s a Wordpress plugin so can be used with multiple themes/page builders
Where can I find in your videos the topic: H1 header/title, but working in 2 different sizes (bigger font in desktop, smaller on mobiles) ?
Hi - it'll be in the Bricks 101 Part 3 video (I think). As long as you select Mobile View, then you can change the font/weighting etc for the Mobile compared to the Desktop.
Great learning Bricks 🧱 with you!
Great video and insight Imran. I'll be totally honest though, I'm not convinced about the page speed scoring until more digging has been done as to how it does it. It might be genuine and very good....but that's what people think about nitro pack too. At first glance I found the interface looked a bit too cluttered. But I will reserve judgement until the time I might have a look. But it's certainly worth keeping an eye on.
Glad you said that because it’s been bothering me too. The results remind me of sites that delay JS. I need to probe more.
It just doesn't add unnecessary bloat or unnecessary scripts like Elementor, it's nothing special. This is why Webflow, Oxygen, Cwicly, Bricks, Genarepress are so fast, they are not doing any cheating like nitropack
@@KariposTheOne I'm still liking it though :)
The page speed scores are dope legit
Hey man, i was wondering how to create a full width container or slider when my defined site width is 1300px. I try, but the container defaults to the set site size.
You need to not set a site wide width.
Great Vid!
I really recommend to work with classes because it's very powerful for global styling, you can pretty much style everything globally with classes. Performance is really great in Bricks, 60 points on mobile is very bad and optimization is a lot of additional work in Elementor. I think the publish button was vanishing because you already published the changes and there was nothing new to publish.
I think you're right about the Publish button bit... I think....
Agreed, I need to play more with the classes, so will do a follow-on video soon.
@@websquadron I recommend to turn jquery off if you don't need it, it's a big performance boost :)
I've only visited the Bricks home page and this is the first time I've seen a in-depth video of Bricks and 😮
100 x 2 on performance out of the box! 🤯 I really like the added SM and SEO features.
Some of the design functionality will annoy me though. I do not like how global styles are locked in the way it is and what is up with the publish button? These two things will be little frustrations along with having to input the numbers on gradients and other element styles while designing and probably keep me wondering why it is the way it is and wishing it wasn't so. I'm like you, using Elementor is such a breeze because I've used it for so long. Is what I saw enough to make me change over....not yet, but Bricks has huge potential and I will definitely be keeping 👀 on it. Thanks for another great video.
Do you guys also create a child theme of bricks like you do for hello theme?
Many would recommend it, but I don't. I prefer to use Code Snippets when adding any JS etc that changes/adds to the site.
I really like Bricks and how its getting better and better at a fast pace since release. But as you I would rely, to some extent, on Elementor which I know how works and quickly can build a site. Currently I am looking into building on of my own sites using Bricks. I was hoping Elementor would have released Flex containers, but this never seem to happend :-(
This is the reason why I will switch to Bricks, I'm waiting and probably many others 8 months for the container now... They will probably announce it to Beta very soon because of the pressure but the container from Bricks is much better compared to E
Hi guys, I am wondering what I should do as a CSS noob and elementor and divi trained web design amateur. I am purchasing a web builder soon but do you think I can use Bricks builder without any knowledge of CSS?
Totally yes :) You don’t need to be an expert and I often use tools like Microthemer (free) to help me. Have a look at my series of Bricks 101 that I’m running
@@websquadron oeh that makes it very interesting! I contacted a SEO consultant and he explained I can use divi and elementor without getting problems with page speed if I just organize al other page speed determing factors. Makes me doubt again if switching to beaverbuilder of bricksbuilder because of pagespeed is worth it. My pure reason is the benefit in page speed. Since I want to teach the web building skills to my collegue soon I guess Elementor is the best bet, because of the intuitive interface. Do you agree?
I have lots of experience in divi and used to do elementor back in the days. Divi feels just a bit too slow and buggy to me.
I also like the idea of an expanded with video help area. But just to note, Bricks is being built by 5 developers. I think their priorities currently are in the right place to 1) continue building out the capabilities of Bricks and 2) squashing bugs as they invariably pop up. I also believe that by 2.0 there will be no discussion whether Ele or O2 should ever be used in a professional website building environment or agency. My faith is due to the underpinnings and framework being Vue. Even Sofly, makers of O2, are instead building a whole new builder with Vue (Breakdance), rather than rewrite O2. It remains to be seen how Elementor will move into the future: rewrite or build a new builder. I'm betting on something completely new, or purchasing a new theme builder.
Indeed I'm looking forward to seeing how Bricks develop.
Publish button... probably because you are in a template, rather than a page?
Stretch thing is sorted in 1.5 afaik
Overriding theme styles on the fly works for me btw!
"Next" on the roadmap usually means next update.
ALSO....
We do need to see a Breakdance comparison now :)
Nice one on the stretch :)
Re: Publish - It happened even when I was on a page. Strange... or is it just me?
Hope you liked the video - and please do share if it's worthy of the share :)
1:02:20 the moment my dude saw the light
Hehe :)
I think they have just released a link for a free sandbox option on their website
Really? Where?
Lifetime licence too... so better than the grandfathered in on Elementor Pro where you still pay yearly
Yup you're right, should have mentioned that in the video more.
😂😂 I'm glad you saw the performance difference. I imagine it felt wrong to hit 100 without even optimizing
Yes! I was like WTF!!!!!!!!
Bloody hell, Oxygen is sooooooo slow ........ and no realtime building of pages! Just heard about Bricks today!
dang, you got rid of hello dolly?!? 😂 one of my favorite parts of getting to my tasks is that top right hand corner *i feel the room swayin’* or *you’re still goin’ strong* little messages. 😅 maybe i’m a sucker, i live in the delta of usa, so we love dolly here. can’t delete the dolly.
I love Dolly Parton too :)
@@websquadron awesome to hear 🙂 i appreciate your video!! i haven’t heard of bricks before today, and now i’m amazed at the inexpensive price. elementor has been good to me, but lately, brave and chrome both freeze while in the middle of any type of editing or really performing any wordpress with elementor task…even quick edits not having to open elementor fully. it’s becoming incredibly time consuming. half my day is beginning to be me blankly staring, waiting to click save, after another screen freeze of course. my hard drives as well as my browsers are always cached and free for usage…so with that being said, if the WP performance continues on being insanely sub par, i’m going to consider trying bricks! thanks so much for the in depth review!! 👌👏
Looks like there isn't a trial version for bricks to give it a try like elementor free plugin 🤔
See this: try.bricksbuilder.io/
@@websquadron I tried that and was surprised how far you could go in playing around with it. It even has some plugins installed (like Pods) you can activate to see how well it plays with them.
🙋🏻♂️
Try the Breakdance builder. It will be a direct competitor to the Elementor.
I'll reach out to them to get a license and do a triple showdown.
For something that has literally just been released, $149 a year is quite a lot
@@KasztanTS Hi. It's been out a good while now (March 2021) - and the $149 was for Unlimited Websites Lifetime. One-off cost. They are changing this on November 11th.
@@websquadron I meant Breakdance not Bricks. Bricks has been for a while and it's $199 for a Lifetime license, while this Breakdance stable version was released early September, so just over a month ago and it's already $149 a year. Though it looks good for something that has just been released, it doesn't have any credibility compared to Bricks - their pace of development is really good.
@@KasztanTS Oh sorry :) Yes, the $149 for BD is poor business, and I wish they would lower that for 1 license. BD definitely looks good but their Creator and his method of marketing makes me not want to consider it. I do still like using Elementor, but Bricks is another face for me.
Dont love Bricks, I well be sticking with Elementor
I've been experimenting with Bricks, but I don't like the interface, and one thing that worried me was the 'Hover' effect, especially for a button. I think I'll stick with Elementor.
I still need to get used to some parts of it too.
So Bricks didnt have the picture on mobile vs Elementor that had the picture in mobileview how can you compare that speed wise makes no sense.
It was there when I tested again, and the scores were roughly the same
@@websquadron ok thanks
I think Elementor is unmatched when it comes to third party add-ons. Crocoblock, unlimited elements, etc.
True for now. I do think that Bricks and other builders will catch up, and if a lot of them have features where we don't have to always use 3rd Party, then it could be a strong move for Bricks.
@@websquadron I'd honestly love for them to catch up this way. It would only push Elementor further. This kind of competition is absolutely excellent for consumers like us! :D
I think Brick will be unmatched in what it can do without add-ons. An entire industry arose around the things Elementor couldn't do out of the box that are just standard features in Bricks, such as query loops.
You should've made this video with Bricks 1.5-beta. By the time this update is released by next month's first week, the video has no value.
I know - but I wanted to show what it has for those that don't go with 1.5 etc. I will be doing an update later this week with 1.5 and adding more content to the page.
To be honest - with all systems, whenever there's an update, the past becomes redundant. Don't worry, I'll be updating. Thanks for your input.
18:30 I'd call them "bricks"... "use bricks to build your house"...
Yup, yup yup :)
I find that elementor is way much easier to use 🙂
Yup - I use both :)
@@websquadron
Which is better? Elementor with crocoblocks or Bricks?
@@hannoushy583 Bricks shouldn’t be used with EL. Just use Hello with EL. Don’t mix 2 page builders. Crocoblock is good if you need it.
@@websquadron
Yes I know that, I mean, does Bricks have features as crocoblocks?
@@hannoushy583 Not yet. Croco will be integrating with Bricks soon
over talking!
And your point is??
Exactly, I only watch this kind of video for the soundtrack, as I do with audiobooks. :P
sorry my man, but you are too annoying for me to watch a complete video of you being astonished by the simplest things. And whats up with the PERMANENT HUGE face overlay.. is this video's purpose for showcasing the product.. or you?
Sorry, but for each one of the minute things that you are so astonished about that this has and Elementor doesn't, Elementor has 50 that this doesn't.
Lastly, just off of the ecosystem of other WP plugins built for and around Elementor.. comparing these two from a developer's stand-point... isn't even a comparison. Maybe a non-developer non-coder and strictly WYSISWYG website developer wanna-be this would be acceptable.
Thank you for this amazing insight into my first ever look at Bricks.
I'm brave enough to put my face out there.
And many enjoy it.
Please feel free to put a post-it over the screen the next time that you see my face. Superglue would help to keep the post-it in place.
@@websquadron I appreciate you for making this video. Don't worry about what other people say, it sounds like he was having a bad day, and you were an easy target. I look forward to seeing more Bricks videos from you.
@@websquadron Go Imran 🤩
The company is very shady. go ahead and invest in their products, then have fun removing their products from your work flow and finding something else in a couple years. Bricks and the company is garbage. get away from builders
Thanks for your points.
Where do these statements come from? Can you provide evidence for your theses?
Sadly, switched from Elementor. To? Blocksy Theme + Gutenberg Blocks like Kadence / Stackable 100 / 100 also.
Great to hear ;)
