I know no one might ever read this but i just lost my girlfriend. She passed away in an accident and just left this world without warning. We had been having a little patch where we just needed to find ourself for a bit and now she’s gone. It’s been about a week and i miss her more then ever. I was cleaning my house and told google to play pandora and this was the first song that played. Never ever heard it, but i just heard it and broke down. I wanted so bad to grow with her and now i can’t and it sucks.
I lost my best friend almost 2 years ago (I was 14). She was my first friend I made but moved to Hungary (I live in England) so we saw each other about once a year but were still the best of friends. I hadn't seen her the year before she passed away because of exams we were both taking so we were busy. I also connect with this similar to you as we went through so much together and every time a big event in my life passes I always try and live it for both of us together, so she can carry on to grow with me. Even though it has been 2 years it definitely is still hard, but, although you do not believe it ,it does get better with time, I promise. Your loved one never leaves you but you learn to treasure the special moments and to live your life with them in different ways. 💛

Listening to this song was bittersweet for me until now. I never let myself fall in love because I was afraid people would hate me once they realized who I was. (I'm trans, talking about when I was closetted) No person I was interested in romantically ever said to me it was safe to grow and change, not in the way I needed. I suffer from trauma and depression that I got from a past relationship (mental and sexual abuse) and it's been affecting my life for years... including my current relationship; recently my boyfriend and I got in a heated discussion where I became extremely depressed and we both had mental breakdowns as a result. We knew that I needed to grow from my trauma and heal if it was going to work, but he was so intent on fixing me right away - he has such a hard time seeing me suffer - and we both didn't want to lose what we had... but he didn't know how to help me heal. I remembered this song sent it to him because it's what I wanted for us and I couldn't say it the way Ben Platt could. Now we both know that I don't have to leave to grow from my trauma, but we have to take it slow because healing doesn't happen overnight... and he can't magically fix me. I needed this. I’m having changing problems and almost considered leaving my bf. He’s a great guy. I thought that with change you have to be alone to do so, but I can grow with him. My gf just left me because i wasn't able to open myself to her, seek help for my emotional problems. I was studying and working a lot, but i ended up leaving our present in a second plan, and that made our relationship sink in the last year. Me and my ex girlfriend broke up around Christmas, this was one of the songs we loved. For a month after our break up I couldn’t listen to our old songs nor could I feel the pain of it all. I have been dealing with healing over sexual abuse (I was 7) and I’ve had horrible body image issues growing up. I’ve always hated myself. I’ve always hated who I am. I have developed an eating disorder. I starve myself and then make myself sick to “help myself.” Because I go to bed hungry, I used to not be able to sleep. That caused me to start taking muscle relaxers to sleep... that has now turned into an addiction.... I have always believed in Jesus, but lately, I have felt like Jesus have up on me like I had myself. This song is almost like Jesus speaking to me. I’m working on myself, with the help of Jesus. Hi, Maggie! I love music and I especially love how we can hear our Savior speaking to us in some music. I'll be honest, I don't have any eating disorders or current addictions (I have struggled with pornography usage in the past) but during my parents' divorce a few years back, I remember praying to God that He would stop it all and fix it, bring my family back together. It was a few moments of silence before a melody came into my mind. There weren't any words, but I could tell from the music that my parents were going to get divorced and that the Lord would be there to comfort me. He was. I learned a lot through that experience and countless others during my parents' divorce. Jesus and my Heavenly Father were ready and anxious to keep me "company through every twist and turn". :) I can testify to you, Maggie, that Jesus is willing to walk with us as we grow and love us through all of our mistakes. I can relate to the feeling that I am not good enough, and I have sometimes felt like Jesus is giving up on me. But I have been learning that He is not giving up on us. We humans are not good enough on our own, and that's okay. Jesus makes us enough. Jesus opened the way so we could be part of His family and talk to God freely. He died for us to be saved. And no matter how many times we fail Him, He won't stop loving us. He won't leave our side. His love is greater than any other. He promises not to forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:8). No one of His children is an exception. And He doesn't break His promises, no matter what we do or don't do. I hope this encourages you ❤ I will be praying for you! ❤
maggie, that is so fucking hard. i never had anything that big or tramatic and i just started sobbing as i read this because that is so so so horrible. i always grew up hating myself and just feeling like nobody was there especially Jesus. i felt like i was never good enough to be on this earth or even in his presence. it is such a hard feeling to deal with. and i have no idea how you might feel but i want to tell you that you are strong enough to get through this and that maybe not everyone will love you but one person will always be there no matter what. I suffer from trauma and depression that I got from a past relationship (mental and sexual abuse) and it's been affecting my life for years... including my current relationship; recently my boyfriend and I got in a heated discussion where I became extremely depressed and we both had mental breakdowns as a result. We knew that I needed to grow from my trauma and heal if it was going to work, but he was so intent on fixing me right away - he has such a hard time seeing me suffer - and we both didn't want to lose what we had... but he didn't know how to help me heal. I remembered this song sent it to him because it's what I wanted for us and I couldn't say it the way Ben Platt could. Now we both know that I don't have to leave to grow from my trauma, but we have to take it slow because healing doesn't happen overnight... and he can't magically fix me. So, Ben Platt, thank you for salvaging my relationship and turning it into something so beautiful and sweet. You're honestly my hero.

I needed this. I’m having changing problems and almost considered leaving my bf. He’s a great guy. I thought that with change you have to be alone to do so, but I can grow with him. My gf just left me because i wasn't able to open myself to her, seek help for my emotional problems. I was studying and working a lot, but i ended up leaving our present in a second plan, and that made our relationship sink in the last year.
We still love each other so much, but we both knew how difficult it was last year. She breaking up w/ me was the toughest decision ever, but unfortunatelly a necessary pain to force my growth.

I have developed an eating disorder. I starve myself and then make myself sick to “help myself.” Because I go to bed hungry, I used to not be able to sleep. That caused me to start taking muscle relaxers to sleep... that has now turned into an addiction....

I'll be honest, I don't have any eating disorders or current addictions (I have struggled with pornography usage in the past) but during my parents' divorce a few years back, I remember praying to God that He would stop it all and fix it, bring my family back together. It was a few moments of silence before a melody came into my mind. There weren't any words, but I could tell from the music that my parents were going to get divorced and that the Lord would be there to comfort me. He was.
I learned a lot through that experience and countless others during my parents' divorce. Jesus and my Heavenly Father were ready and anxious to keep me "company through every twist and turn". :)
I can testify to you, Maggie, that Jesus is willing to walk with us as we grow and love us through all of our mistakes.

I can relate to the feeling that I am not good enough, and I have sometimes felt like Jesus is giving up on me. But I have been learning that He is not giving up on us.
We humans are not good enough on our own, and that's okay. Jesus makes us enough.
Jesus opened the way so we could be part of His family and talk to God freely. He died for us to be saved. And no matter how many times we fail Him, He won't stop loving us. He won't leave our side. His love is greater than any other. He promises not to forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:8). No one of His children is an exception. And He doesn't break His promises, no matter what we do or don't do. I hope this encourages you ❤ I will be praying for you! ❤

i never had anything that big or tramatic and i just started sobbing as i read this because that is so so so horrible. i always grew up hating myself and just feeling like nobody was there especially Jesus. i felt like i was never good enough to be on this earth or even in his presence. it is such a hard feeling to deal with. and i have no idea how you might feel but i want to tell you that you are strong enough to get through this and that maybe not everyone will love you but one person will always be there no matter what. Jesus Christ will always be there for you. I have no idea who you are, where you might be, what you are exactly dealing with but i know that as a fact. you got this girl!

i heard this song at a church camp and couldn't really hear the lyrics but i thought it was pretty but kinda forgot about it. i have been really struggling with my anxiety and my depression and just overall mental health. and i am the person who acts happy and like everything is fine and puts a smile thats not really mine on my face only to come and breakdown over everything basically. i am also a person who feels emotions extremely strongly and can have intense mood swings meaning one minute i can be extremely happy the next i can be sobbing. and there is just so much friend drama and problems going on right now. anyways, i was cleaning my room and just sobbing to words fail over and over cause i just felt like i was just such a terrible person for feeling the feelings i do. and then this song came to my mind and so i typed it in and listened to it. and then again and then again. these lyrics are just so breathtaking. like just the lyrics all speak to me but "tell me you don't want to leave, cause a change IS what you need, you can change right next to me" just makes me sob. i need a change in mentalities. i need a change in friends. i need a change in being more positive. i need to change holding in all these hard feelings and grow as we go. and this song makes me feel like its ok to feel all these things and that maybe i do need to distance myself from all of these toxic people in my life. even though it might make some things more complicated for a time, i want to believe that in the end it will all be better. so now i am just trying to take a step back and figure myself out and to just breathe. this song made me realize to just flow with life and that i do not have to be there for every single person who knows me and i definitely do not have to deal with all these negative people who bring me down. thanks for everyone who listened to my story ig lol and to ben platt for such a great and powerful song and especially that kid who sang this song or else i probably would never realize this and become a better person of it.

it's been two years since my first boyfriend left me. I asked him why while I was breaking into tears staring at the phone, he said that he feels we are not growing/we won't grow with the kind of set-up we had (Ldr). whenever everything gets hard, i tend to question my own worth and if i ever really know myself. i always become lost along the way thinking that the person i was or i am right now wasn't and isn't the person that i am and so i always think of disappearing- leaving everything behind, everything i have. always going back to that feeling that i am not really growing,,, that i am still the same person who hasn't learned her lessons yet with the amount of struggles she faced in life. i know i have people in my life that i can rely to but i also know that they have their own hard ships in life that's why i always am having second thoughts about sharing whatever I'm going through. but i stumbled upon this song one time and since then it always remind me of staying despite of wanting to leave and disappear. I was coming back from the best youth retreat of my life today, where I found myself and I found God again and I have friends and I’m happy and I know for certain my boyfriend is the one I want to marry cause he is so right for me in every way. We’ve been together for 5 years (I’m 16) I’ve known he was the one the whole time and this song really hit me I love him so much.
I come back to this song every night bc I just need to hear this. I had my heart broken about 2 years ago. Ik that was so so long ago but some people are so hard to get over. I don’t think about him as often as I use to and I don’t cry about him much anymore which makes me happy cuz I feel like I can finally move on, but I’ll always have love for him...

But i used to be with the thinking that a person needs to go it alone to grow or get better.
Weirdly, it always felt like life is a lone man road no matter what, and we all people are just side characters in our own stories

But when i met my boyfriend,
I used to feel the same. But later on, i don't know, but all the problems we faced together, i firmly believe that growing together with him is all i want, and i think we well. 😀
And it was really because he never gave up on my such, perhaps unhelpful and maybe even hurtful thoughts about wanting to always go alone.
He always said that he wanted to grow us together, i am grateful to myself too, that i decided to let myself change my mind too honestly.

A toxic connection that was just made because we're both damaged and the best thing to do is to leave. Grow apart is what for the best but they say those issues that you need to fix will show up to other connections that we had aside from what we had from the person were thinking of. Maybe it's the best to grow alone but not ending the connection? I don't know I badly want to move on.
