The condition regarding what happens if the Palestinians renege is key. If they genuinely want peace, then the 2 state solution is reasonable and just. But if they use it as a stepping stone to wipe out or attempt to wipe out Israel, then a future Palestine cannot be justified.
A 2 state is not a solution as it leaves Israel with those trying to destroy it along its whole side and Israel only 9 miles across with enemies on their one side, the sea on the other.
When Palestinians were given the opportunity to vote in Gaza, they voted Hamas and it is still in power until now (I am not sure if elections have ever been conducted after they gained power which is a typical tactic of Islamic groups, using democracy to reach power and then held it forever) and Hamas doesn’t want peace, they want the eradication of Israel and the Jewish people. Their leader has even said recently that they are going to transform this war into a religious war that will go outside the borders of Israel (maybe he was referring to the dream of the Islamic khilafah ) I think the man who was talking about trust meant that as well. It is difficult to trust Palestinians on who they are going to choose as leadership.
Nobody agrees with 2 states. It leaves Israel open to everything, only 9 miles wide down its entire center, and another state who wants it destroyed down its entire side.

In general, every minority group in the Middle East is persecuted by the Muslims. Just look at what they did to the Armenians, the Kurds , etc... A good example for the Palestinians: Samaritan - Once a large community, the population shrank significantly in the wake of the brutal suppression of the Samaritan revolts against the Byzantine Empire. Mass conversion to Christianity under the Byzantines and later to Islam following the Muslim conquest of the Levant further reduced their numbers. In order to solve the identity issue and what the land is called just have one state , with equal rights for all that Israelis can call Israel and Palestinians can call it Palestine . Both names could be used interchangeably for both peoples. That way neither Palestinians or Israelis feel as if their identity is lost.
You can be sure that no Israeli government will ever accept this. Do you really think they will consider Jews and Palestinians as truly equal citizens? For example will an Arab ever be allowed to be the defense minister?! I think not at all. And Israeli leaders themselves openly say that Israel is not the country of all its citizens and it doesn't even suppose to work for the interests of a fourth of its own citizens who are non-jews.

The term "two-state solution" has become a generic ill-defined term long time ago. The question should have been more specific as in either the "Jewish version of two-state solution" or the "Palestinian version of two -state solution". They are very different versions. The Israeli version, more-or-less, will keep the greater Jerusalem area, Jewish settlements, continue control over many of area C, and the Jordanian gorge. The Palestinian version wants the 1967 border including East Jerusalem. Neither version is clear on what to do with the opposite population. If there is a two state-solution (regardless of what it is), does it mean that all Israeli Arabs will have to give up their Israeli citizenship and move to Palestine? Does it mean all Jewish settlers that end up in Palestine will have to either go back to Israel or accept the Palestinian citizenship (It is a rhetorical question since no settler will accept the Palestinian citizenship)? What about the Palestinian Refugees and their final disposition? The point I am trying to make is that asking a simple question to either side "Do you agree to the two state solution?" is a short-sighted question. It needs to be more specific in order for the answers to be more meaningful. I bet every Israeli who said YES to the two-state solution will give a definite NO if the two-state solution implies giving up East Jerusalem which was part of the Arab partition prior to 1967 war.
What is unique about this conflict is figuring out who is the indigenous and who is the conqueror/colonist!!! I do not believe anywhere in history that we have this situation. It has always been clear who is the aggressor and who is the victim. HOWEVER, I believe one way to deescalate the situation and make it better prepared for peace is for both sides to change their narrative -- regardless of absolute accuracy. I believe both sides should accept that both carry indigenous genes and they are actually close cousins. Which means the Israeli Jews will have to modify their narrative and accept that many of the ancient Jews stayed and changed religion/identity. By the same token, the Palestinians will have to change their narrative and accept that the Israeli Jews are their distant cousins who are coming back to join them on the mother land. In this manner, we can put behind all the debate about who is indigenous and who is not. All will be perceived as indigenous with equal claims. The second step is to focus on "equality" and I am using the term equality a double quotes. I do realize the Israeli Jews will never accept absolute equality because what would imply giving up the Jewishness claim of the state. However, at least adopting some "equality" in the sense allowing some of the Palestinian refugees to come back and end Aliya. In this manner it will be determined who is "in" and who is "out" without a backdoor to change demography. The third step is to forget about the 2-state solution and accept a 1-state solution. Above 3-steps will take several generations to come to fruition. If we go back to the 20s here in America, getting the White Americans to give equal rights to Black Americans and live together in harmony was impossible. It took many generations for the "impossible" to come a long way. That is, White people who lived in the 20s would never thought that day will come when Black people are given equal rights -- OK, I do understand there is still more work that needs to be done. The point is that what seems to be an impossible co-existence idea now between Israeli Jews and Palestinians might actually happen in 100 years from now.
Palestinian version of two state solution is Arabs have the land, Jews have the sea. Only when you can agree on the principle of 2 states, can you talk specifics.
You're right. I think many People from outside don't understand that even if Palestinians would agree to the most generous Israeli proposal, reality would probably not let the solution be viable: Even if Palestinian refugees go back only to the west bank and Gaza, there is still not enough place and resources for them. A sustainable solution has to include a dramatic change of paradigm for arabs who will choose real shared living with jews in Israel over the alternatives of Iranian-style, Islamist, or pan-arab approaches. In such a case some sort of Confederate or federal solution might be worked out that includes Jordan.
@@johns22 I'm thinking somewhat with a similar spirit to what you've describes.
@@shainazion4073 The Jewish settlers are also prolbems. They are crazy too.

Their leader has even said recently that they are going to transform this war into a religious war that will go outside the borders of Israel (maybe he was referring to the dream of the Islamic khilafah )

Just so you know that many of the Palestinians are conquerors from outside, the Jews were the majority in Jerusalem until the Muslims decided to expel them from their homes, another example: there was a Jewish quarter in Gaza (very old, before Zionism arrived) and the Muslims also expelled them. In general, every minority group in the Middle East is persecuted by the Muslims. Just look at what they did to the Armenians, the Kurds , etc...
A good example for the Palestinians:
Samaritan - Once a large community, the population shrank significantly in the wake of the brutal suppression of the Samaritan revolts against the Byzantine Empire. Mass conversion to Christianity under the Byzantines and later to Islam following the Muslim conquest of the Levant further reduced their numbers. In the 12th century, Abbasid period, with increasing persecution targeting the Samaritan community and considering them infidels who must convert to Islam.

Absolutely right, but no progress while the two parties refuse to talk to each other.
I think many People from outside don't understand that even if Palestinians would agree to the most generous Israeli proposal, reality would probably not let the solution be viable:
Even if Palestinian refugees go back only to the west bank and Gaza, there is still not enough place and resources for them.

I'm thinking somewhat with a similar spirit to what you've describes.
I'm calling it "the 30 million solution".
30 million People is pretty much the whole Jewish and Palestinian population in the world, including everyone (plus minus the population of Mexico city alone).
So far in my "solution" I mainly have the name but not the details. And yes, I believe jews and Palestinians are much more similar than we realize.
It would actually be a pleasure to learn from both the muslim world and jewish world.
The last interview with the passionate Israelis was the most Israeli thing ive seen on this channel hahaha
Those drunken friends had my faith restored in humanity :)
No. Not two state, according to Neftali Bennett. Area A and B will become autonomous in confederation with Jordan. Israel gets Area C. Area A & B will become another Gaza if it becomes a state.
Guy in the red t shirt has spoken more sense than anyone
If one of the two country break the rule by attacking the other, the other one has the right to fight back (erased as he says)
Ok but Israel has the nuke, give the nuke to palestinians too and same weapon technology... Now that will be fair.
@@UzumakiNagato historically our country has beaten several coalitions of Arab state with similar weaponry. the main difference was the superior leadership of our side.
so even if you give the future Palestinian state the exact same weapons we have, they'll need good commanders to lead them
Israelis want peace and security.
The sad part is, at this point, most Palestinians would not accept a two-state solution.
I came for the thumbnail hottie :D
So if everyone want peace what F the politicians are doing?🤦
Milking both sides?
The Palestinians don't want that
@@davidsh2011 speak for yourself, like that peace could be initiated, assuming is not fact.
Israelis vote massively for right wing extremists. This video is misleading.
@@gregdenys7162 Peace with Egypt was made by the Israeli right wing.
Can you tell me when was the last time the Palestinians demonstrated in favor of peace? Or do the Palestinians want us Israelis to go and demonstrate against there government too?
Why do we(israeli) learn about the history of Arabs and Muslims in Israeli schools (my teacher was a Muslim who taught us) Have you seen what the Palestinians teach their children?
-If you sow cucumber seeds don't expect to get a banana...-
Before peace achieved, both sides need to have a culture and education that enhance changes of peace. The problem is the crazy ideologies embraced by the extremist of both sides will never allow this
