Our ancestors didnt spend most of their time on concrete, I think a little cushioning is ok, but pointed toeboxes are just dumb

Cushioning inhibits proprioception -- resulting in harder landings just in order to feel the ground. While cushioning equalizes this shock across the foot, it doesn't prevent the shock from being transfered upstream into the ankles, knees, hips, back, and neck. A lack of cushioning translates to lighter footfalls, even distribution of force (if not loading the energy into the arch for a substantial return, like a spring) and preserved joints.

@@keneticchannel I think i understand what you mean. Horses are supposed to be on grass, and they wear metal shoes on roads.

@@colmocuinneagain3580 True, but even some equestrians are questioning whether horse shoes are even good for horses. There is a growing "barefoot" movement in that movement as well.

I have to point out. If your feet and ankles are weak and stiff, barefoot shoes can f you up bad. Take it from someone who's been there.

You can do something about that. Foot and ankle weakness is the result of being isolated in modern shoes.
      1. Kick off your shoes for 10% of your training in a week.
      2. Increase that by no more than 10% a week.

@@keneticchannel Thanks. That sounds like good advice. My problem is, after 5 years of foot pain, I am afraid of doing things bare foot. I am terrified of re injuring my fascia. It's actually a freaking nightmare.

@@habitatfarm That's understandable. However, support usually = weakness. Modern shoes isolate muscles, tendons, and joints from moving -- much like a cast on a broken bone. This can result in atrophy and impede strengthening and flexibility. Barefoot activity, in easy moderation, can help restore strength and mobility.

It's a long process that can take years. If your feet and ankles are weak you shouldn't just jump in and yes and can cause many problems.

I started going barefoot early this year. Never going back. My foot and legs are so much stronger and healthier.

Started running completely barefoot a few years ago, had to change all my footwear. I now wear completely flat shoes at all times, mostly moccasins. Finding flat dress shoes that work with a suit took the longest
