What is the What is extremely wonderful. I had to read it over the summer for school and it was literally the best book I've ever been assigned as a summer read. It's heart wrenching but it's extremely eye opening and it made me appreciate the things that I have so much more. It was a slow going read because you really have to immerse yourself into the story but be patient with it, it's worth it :)
The Power of One is an amazing book. It's not something I would typically pick for myself but it was recommended to me and I'm so glad I read it! Tandia (the sequel) is also excellent.
I love the White Queen books and the series, I did not enjoy the White Princess so much though. It's great to see how Philippa Gregory is able to change perspective between the White Queen and the Red Queen though. The other books look very interesting, too! So happy reading!
If you liked Fables you might really enjoy the video game that is based off of the series called "The Wolf Among Us"... Its a story based video game with Bigby as the main character. Every choice you make affects the outcome of the game and how the people in the town respond to you, its really interesting to see not only how the story plays out but how your choices directly affect the game as well!
Gah, I adore Fables, but I really need to get my hands on actually hard copies! Bigby Wolf is my absolute favorite. Great video, I'm thinking about picking up the Philipa Gregory books now.
You're right, The White Queen cover is pretty poor . . . I'd certainly recommend you read the book though - but make sure you read them in order. It starts with The White Queen and then The Red Queen. I'm needing to start the third in the series soon.
I got a copy of All the Bright Places too! Except I got mine at a convention where I helped the author sign copies of her books :) Jennifer Niven is a complete sweetheart and I can't wait to read it! also, the back of your copy looks like the front of my copy, weird.
I read Half Bad a while back. There was so much hype around it that I ended up buying the pocketbook version, since it was the only paperback copy and hardback is too expensive. It was an enjoyable read but it didn't quite "wow" me either. The ending makes me want to continue one with the series, though :)
The White Queen is amazing I'm from England and the BBC tv series did the books so much justice. It encapsulates all 4 of the books that had been released. They then released the books with the tv covers which are much better and Philipa Gregory then rekeased The White Princess which is the story about the start of the Tudor dynasty from the view of the queen. They are brilliant books I love Philipa Gregory's books as they are historical fiction I highly recommend them to you xxxxxxxx
What is the What summary reminds me of a friend of mine (kind of) who was a child soldier, trained but hadn't been sent to war yet and was going to be sent soon. He managed to escape and ran across three countries until he managed to find someone who paid for his flight to Europe and finally came over to America where he lives with a family I know. I can't imagine what he went through. Needless to say he's amazing at soccer- very fast and I've heard he's crazy hard to play against in air soft (due to his training in shooting). As far as I know he didn't have to kill anyone but was about to be sent to the field where he would've obviously had to kill lots of people.
First off, start the Cousins' War series by reading The Lady of the Rivers. Chronologically, it's first, and it adds SO much to both The White Queen and The Red Queen. The Red Queen was my least favorite because I just can't stand Margaret Beaufort, but it was still so interesting to read her perspective. Kingmaker's Daughter is so good as well. I want to re-read them all before I start the The White Princess and The King's Curse before moving into her Tudor series (trying to stay in chronological order). The Power of One is both powerful and beautiful. I read it for my World Lit class sophomore year of high school (many, many moons ago), and I remember it being one of the only assigned books I actually enjoyed reading ahead for fun. You will love it. Finally, Half Bad was not half bad, it was almost All bad. I couldn't stand it! It was boooooring until the final 80 pages. I hope you like it better than I did. Happy reading!
Interesting you read the The Lady of the Rivers first. I've read them in the date that they were published . . . I really enjoyed both the Red and White Queen books and am looking forward to continuing with the series.
I read them in the order in which they were published, too, but I haven't gotten around to the King's Curse or her Tudor books yet. I enjoyed them all, but looking back my least favourite might be the White Princess. I loved the Kingmaker's Daughter though and the Lady of the Rivers had some wonderful symbolic figures in it (like the wheel of Fortune) but I think my favourite is the Red Queen though. I really like how Philippa Gregory is able to write from both points of views so easily though.
I recommend The Book of Negros. I'm only about halfway through it for English class, but if I wasn't holding myself back I would have read it all by now. It's really good, and Historical Fiction isn't even close to being my favourite genre. I'm tempted to even buy a copy just for myself.
I loved Half Bad! The magical world was different and the questions about nature vs. nurture that you get from the narrator and overall book are really interesting (if you read it that way) :P I think you'll like it!
You have All The Bright Places?! I've been waiting for this book to come out for ages, it's one of the books I'm most looking forward to read. I really hope you like it, it's been getting so much buzz :)
I read is What is the What! I didn't think it was an omg-cant-focus-on-anything-else kind of page turner, but I did very much love it. The way he talks about everything, it makes you understand how terrible and how pointless all of it is, but... idk how to explain this properly, but it's like he's just telling this story without trying to make a point about the civil war or all the shit that happened because of it, he's just talking and you can't help but be horrified at certain parts. The Sudan chapters alternate with chapters from his life after he came to the US, which at first I didn't really see the point of, but after a while it really helps you see what's so difficult about trying to integrate in a new country. I feel like I'm not explaining it too well, but yeah, it took me a little while to get into it, but I'm so glad I read it! If you end up liking it up, I also recommend you read Mr. Pip by Lloyd Jones :)
ahh!! I'm jealous you've got All The Bright Places! I want that book so bad!! :D Half Bad was great! I mostly enjoyed the second half of the story but the first half was very interesting! It takes a bit to get into the story, but it's worth it! :P
The White Queen's small paperback cover is actually much prettier than the hardcover one.(if I'm right I got this one: 9781847394644) Most books in her series are the same cover style except for some oldies like the constant princess ... which bugged me, a lot.
I read The White Queen and was not a fan. I generally love the genre, but I felt like the story just repeated itself over and over within the book and nothing new happened. Maybe I'm biased because the main character really got on my nerves. I'd be interested to see if I like The Red Queen better.
She is my top youtuber I also have a RUclips channel and and a book club on Twitter.the twitter one is BookClub @sarahe2002 thank you and my RUclips one is this one I am use now
A blind date with a book sounds amazing :D
I started reading Fables volume 1 and I am loving it
What is the What is extremely wonderful. I had to read it over the summer for school and it was literally the best book I've ever been assigned as a summer read. The White Queen is great! I think you'll love it :). Although that cover is a little odd - movie covers are so hit and miss
The color pages are everything 😮 and good luck with Half Bad. It definitely had a different feel to it
The Power of One is an amazing book. It's not something I would typically pick for myself but it was recommended to me and I'm so glad I read it! Tandia (the sequel) is also excellent.
Half bad is awesome! I hope you enjoy it!

I love the White Queen books and the series, I did not enjoy the White Princess so much though. It's great to see how Philippa Gregory is able to change perspective between the White Queen and the Red Queen though. The other books look very interesting, too! So happy reading!

I LOVED the White Queen tv series. Definitely a must watch. I will have to look into reading the books. Great haul and video!
Gah, I adore Fables, but I really need to get my hands on actually hard copies! Bigby Wolf is my absolute favorite. Great video, I'm thinking about picking up the Philipa Gregory books now.

I'm reading a collection of short stories by Eggers and they're great! I hope you enjoy What is the what :D

The White Queen's small paperback cover is actually much prettier than the hardcover one.(if I'm right I got this one: 9781847394644)
