@@aoifemairein epic the musical in the Ithaca Saga when the Suitor says “open arms” it’s such a “empty promise” Line verses in the Cyclopes saga when Polities sang it. It sounded Genuine.
I love how Telemachus and Odysseus wear the armor of Ares and Athena. The movement in this is incredible and the style looks similar to the greek paintings you’d find on vases. Extremely incredible animatic.
The way Odysseus puts out the fireplace and candles, the wings implying Athena’s still helping him in battle, the scar over Athena’s eye in her owl form, the. red. eyes. So good! 😍
I also think Telemachus unlocked the armory, as the suitor he's talking to says "brothers we've got company and he's made a big mistake, left the armory unlocked and now it's ours to take." But in the sake of fairness taught by Athena probably, Telemachus left the armory unlocked for the suitors to find their weapons so they could choose to fight and die or surrender and be spared.
Telemachus was still in there getting himself geared out, he didn't expect the Suitors to find the armory, thus the door hadn't been locked yet and why he was still in there when they showed up.
I always believed that this is the promise Athena gave Ares in god games so he gave Odysseus his blessing. Making the foil to Telemachus as Athena’s new chosen. So in this son the siblings are both here.
I've started thinking that Ares is helping Ody out here. In the mythology, Ares hated SA and dishonorable battle. These suitors would have done both. In fact, he hates SA so much, he killed a son of Poseidon over it, and said he'd do it again. So with their plans for Penelope and Telemachus, I can totally see Ares helping Odysseus in his defense of Ithica.
@@zetasans495what mythology is that, exactly? The ability to bring home a "wife" was the primary reason half of people went to war. The god of war is hardly going to look down on it.
@@kilbert666 it's a general mythology I have heard. Ares once killed a son of Poseidon for committing SA on one of the Amazons. Ares was put in a trial of sorts with the other gods, and said that he would do it again. Ares is the god of war. He doesn't like sneaky or cowardly warfare, and certainly doesn't like cowards like that.
It's so cool how you can see Telemachus and Athena in the corner of the armoury when you displayed it from a top down view as the suitors entered and then you see from his side in hiding while the suitors discussed
Amazing! I appreciate how much blood you incorporated because it really gives perspective on his “palace covered in red” and the early shot of wrath of gods and monsters to Polites’s glasses was chilling!
Despite the simplistic art design, you filled the void with showing the brutality of Ody's kills through snap cuts and of course, tons and tons of blood! You also didn't hold back with how the suitors died, even revealing their corpses afterwards felt chilling, overall this is really well made. It leaves me curious as to what other animators can do if such a simple animatic conveys so much emotion through edits and clever cuts.
Transitions were S M O O T H and I loved the white on black, really effective way to sell that all of this is happening in the death of night, helping to make oddyseus look like more of a monster by contrast.
This is probably the second best animatic ive seen for Odysseus, only beat by the actual one used in the premier stream. The guys shot for having weapons first, the styling of drawing made me think someone was drawing using chalk on stone or something, Telemachus seeing the attack and getting weapons, accidentally giving the suitors their weapons was shown... I actually cant think of something that was done here thay I've seen elsewhere. Personal fave was ody killing the suitors after they had their line in the song, really hit the fear factor for me
This is so good!!!!! The shot at the end of Odysseus standing over the bodies with his cloak dies red from the blood is awesome, and k love the way you animate fire!
man the switch from lightning hitting the boat to it being a crack in the glasses followed by him taking out all the lights going we doing this now you have til the count of darkness to run and hide is so good.
People are neglecting animators inferior to other more popular animators when the stuff they do is actually really good. I could never make animatics like this one!
I might have miscounted but... I love how, of the 108 suitors, around 54 are shown. Exactly half of the suitors in 5 and a half minutes. I just thought it was kind if a cool detail
@aoifemaire This is what happens when someone occasionally hyper-fixates on something they have an interest in. I like this. It's really cool... wait a minute... now I'm curious.... how many were shown of the suitors?... proceeds to count them... Googles how many there were in the Oddysey.. and finally my original comment is formed. I'm cursed to pay attention to random details. Meanwhile, I can't remember the date or day of the week without looking at my phone or watch. If it weren't for technology, phone alarms, and notes I would be lost most days.
You can DM me on Insta I'll give it for free. Funnily enough, this video glitched... several really layers of the final painting are not actually seen.
4:12 whoops thats not how many fingers he's supposed to have
Ford pines is that you?
they did not get to kill the six fingered man
@bullet4459 FOR REAL
the lightning bolt turning into polites' glasses i literally cant-
i had to incorporate lightning animation somehow lol it's my favorite thing to draw
I literally spit out my water. I have to get some towels now.

Sounds like an Ares sponsorship
With tequila for good measure!
Odysseus, no longer a Warrior of the Mind, but a Warrior of Might
Ares would like him now😊

The suitors trying to go for the axes Ody shot through only to get shot dead immediately. Amazing.

thanks... it definitely becomes a bloodier scene if you read the actual work from Homer... that guy did NOT hold back
1:55 The Suitor being chucked out of the window!! That was fucking awesome!
haha thank you! I was brainstorming for a way to notify telemachus outside

The addition of the gorgon/medusa head was genius!

This is the only situation where I think Athena and Aries would agree on somthing
I love how the blood is depicted and how it moves so smoothly. I also love how after Odysseus puts on the helmet he looks like Aries. Great work
Anyone noticed Medusa’s Head on Telephone’s (Telemachus’s) Shield? And some of the suitors turning into stone?
hehehe he has it for all of like two seconds before the suitors take it away the poor kid
TELEMACHUS'S PART WITH OWL ATHENA OH MY GOSH!

thank you :)

Why does Medusa look like that?😂
Most people ask that question… they don’t live long though
@aoifemaire
So wait... The suitors who saw that Medusa face also petrified? Okay.. so Telamachus grabbed some extra kills in your version. Nice.

I’m pretty sure the suitors didn’t have weapons yet
the axes from the table were wedged there to shoot through, the knife at 0:51 was a kitchen knife. I think that covers my bases?
