People aren’t guaranteed jobs with their degrees because most people get degrees without any thought about it. Supply and demand. You can spend a shit ton of money on a psychology degree, but is the job market friendly for that? No. So why pursue it then complain? There’s zero accountability for going into debt for stupid degrees. I’m in Urban Planning and it’s an extremely lucrative field and it’s growing exponentially in the US. That’s a smarter degree than some of these other ones people are going for.

“Stupid” degrees are misunderstood because you often aren’t going to college just for the degree. There is an art college in my city and what you do at places like that is capitalize on the opportunity that there are more experienced people in your field to meet than if you were somewhere else. You can meet people who will give you an internship, co op, or a job after school doing what you want. The schools also teach you soft skills like networking that are more important than in some other fields. If your field is more competitive having ok or good grades and nothing else doesn’t make you stand out at all and no one will hire you once you graduate, and you lost your opportunity. I 100% agree that a lot of people don’t know what they are going to college for or don’t make the most of their time.
