"In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace-and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock". A fascinating & unforgettable statement from the VERY evil Harry Lime!

A friend and I recently watched this film. I have been showing him all the great black and white classics that he’s avoided for most of his life. He loved it. He said it was like getting transported to a different time.
Thanks Hugh. There is a book signing at Forbidden Planet London on Saturday 28th September at 2pm. forbiddenplanet.com/events/2024/09/28/John-walsh-signing-the-third-man/
Very eager to read your new book on this amazing film - looks incredible. Judging from the video and photos I have seen on Facebook, it was clearly a labor of love. The last few years, THE THIRD MAN has risen up in my Top 10 favorite films. I can watch it anyday, anytime - everything works!! It is one the few perfect films. Wish one day to make it from the US to Vienna and see that wondrous museum there devoted to the film. Now if we can only unearth a copy of "The Lone Rider of Santa Fe"! Best wishes with your new publication! - and congratulation.
Thanks, Paul. I immersed myself into the world of Harry Lime, and I hope everyone thinks the results are worthwhile and do come to my book signing at Forbidden Planet London on 28th September at 2pm.
Just watched you on the Conan the Barbarian channel and looked you up on Amazon then found you on RUclips. It’s been quite a journey tonight! Was happy to see this book was your newest. I haven’t watched this in years and it reminded me of how much I adored this when I first saw it. Thanks for making these books now I need to go read them!

This looks fantastic! The film is such a classic - was lucky to visit Vienna a couple of years ago, can't wait to go back! Looking forward to this excellent release 😀
I probably first saw The Third Man at a revival house theater in Chicago around 40 ir 45 years ago. I watch it on TCM at least once a year. Your book looks fabulous and I will break my rule of not buying a book ( we're trying to downsize) when it comes out. Unless I win a copy. 😊
Every time I see this movie, it's always an enjoyable experience. Of course my wonderful first viewing at a repertory theatre over 40 years ago was the best. Supposedly Roger Ebert, the great film critic, once said if he could somehow forget seeing a film, The Third Man would have been his choice to see for the first time all over again.
The stories behind the making of these movies make the story more real. Can't wait to grab a copy.

Yes indeed! But do you know the whole story behind that quote? Look in the book to find out more.
Received my copy yesterday. The Third Man is my favourite film and you’ve done it proud - superb!

Thanks for sharing that story John. What a good friend you are just like Holly Martins.
@@WalshBros Sometimes I get a feeling I'm more like Harry Lime.

Looks lovely...would compliment my DVD Box set rather nicely.
Indeed, I have written a new essay for the new 4k UHD Blu-ray set. But nothing beats a big book like this of course!

The greatest film of all time deserves a great book. I'm really looking forward to it. Harry Lime would be pleased. ❤📽📚

One of my favourite films, promises to be a great read.
