Just got the first volume. Looking forward to studying English history. Learned some in school but not much. The desire to learn came from working at a tourist attraction and discovering they knew more than me about English history! 😂
So, after travelling to a few cities in England, and visiting several heritage sites, I decided to learn about the history 😁 Peter Ackroyd's books seem so interesting and adventurous. Looking forward to it!

    Dear sir,
I am a student of M.Phil. (English Literature) from Pakistan, I want to research any one of your books. Sir, do you have any suggestions for me?

I admire Peter Ackroyd very much- his London is remarkable.
However, based on this chapter being read, this book has been given the "scatter gun" approach- a series of sensational episodes and "facts" with no context or analysis of the trustworthiness of the source...opinions?

It's definitely a bit scattered (I read it a while ago and am rereading it now), but I think part of the reason of the scattergun approach was to provide context for the machinations of Kings and Courts, to show how the world was growing and changing
