Here's how I consider what a good singer is. A good singer can easily make people move by conveying emotion through their vocals. Taylor overtime has become one of those singers. She's not a vocalist but she's one of those singers who can emote really well through her voice and make you feel exactly the way the song is to her. That's why I really think she's one of the great singers of today.
My thoughts exactly. She reminds me of Madonna because Madonna is also not a vocalist either but she (not much so now) conveys emotion in her vocals just like Taylor Swift does. To me conveying emotion in your voice is more important to me than whether or not a singer can do those obnoxious vocal gymnastics that Christina Aguilera does.
@@arielanderic Yeah , sometimes , those Vocal Acrobatics are Very Very Annoying and you dont get the meaning of song and doesn't make you connect to the lyrics and feel the emotion , but I do like them in moderation when done well .
@@arielandericariana and whitney are the only actual vocalists who are able to make me feel things with the way they sing. Christina shows off her abilities more than express her emotions and that really is annoying.
I think that is probably her best performance ever. NO HATE at all but I think Swift may underestimate her own abilities at singing. She is incredible there.
And people still think she cant sing, she's irmrpoved since Rep era, she has nice runs, better breathe support and control, and Emotion, she deserved a better vocal rating😭😭
I used to also think that her voice changed a lot, but listening to the re recorded version of love story made me change my mind. I spent like 20 minutes trying to find the difference between the original and the re recorded version lol.. her voice grew deeper but she didn't lose the young Taylor voice! I love her soo much
Yaaaa she is able to do the exact style as she did when small! For a second I thought that she just reuploaded her song when she published her version of love story😂😂
Yes and it fits her songwriting style perfectly. I wouldn't even compare her to those vocalists you mentioned because their music is totally different, too.
i think it’s still a little too early to consider ariana a great, but she’s definitely already more than halfway there. I would love to hear her develop her lower range more, because what i heard was AMAZING
Yeah but the greats dont just have to be one style of signing. She doesnt do loud, belty runs the same as them nut TS is still very good in her own genre. AG and TS don't have the same style at all so they arent exactly compatible.
What a detailed analysis. Breath control, belting technique, dancing while performing. Hallelujah intention breaks, pull back. Mixing head and chest. I learn so much from these videos.
In the beginning her vocals weren't great but her writing and the emotion that came through in her delivery made me overlook it. I noticed a huge improvement in the red era and she just keeps getting better.
I think she has said that her tilt back for the high notes is sort of something that makes her comfortable. It’s just like her stage marketing at this point😂. Great time stamp: 11:13😂
I've been a fan of hers since I was 11 years old. I couldn't be more proud to be a swiftie. Shes a true artist and has an amazing talent. I remember watching that show in 2008 and falling in love with how incredible Taylor was and I've just continued to be amazed by her
I've always believed that one of the biggest achievements you can have is to outdo yourselves. And we should determine an artist's worth by how much they have improved over the years and not by making comparisions with others. Glad you did this. ✌
I love taylor but I don’t think she’s can quite be deemed a “vocalist”. she’s an average singer, and that’s ok! She has so much potential to be a vocalist though😊
We don’t realize how lucky we are to witness this. Everyone hates her but the is so talented. Her song writing no one can compare and she is just Uber talented.
Her voice has always been interesting to me. Classified as a lyric soprano but she has a surprisingly low tessitura. In her recent albums, her low notes have developed immensely and she even overlaps with a contralto's range at times. Her lower register is so warm and honey-like.
If you listen to Carolina, which she just releases, she hit's a b2, which is contralto territory. I genuinely think that's where her voice generally settles, and the reason she could sound strained so easily in the beginning is trying to hit notes her voice just couldn't handle well
She’s definitely a contralto. She’s insanely comfortable in her lower range. She does have a light voice for sure, but I think her being so comfortable in her lower range proves she’s a contralto. (Also, contraltos can definitely hit high notes, very high notes on some cases.)
@@herooftwilight5534 no that’s not how vocal range works, your voice type is dependent on where you sound best Taylor doesn’t sound best in a Contralto range

Taylor's singing is enough for the song she makes. She's a great story teller, and i don't want someone telling a story by belting, so she's doing a great job. She knows her strength and weakness.
Honestly all vocal coaches and people who knows music know Taylor can sing well. People who think otherwise are either ignorant or haters, basically. It's so apparent that she sang well in most performances she did.
I love the way you were honest in your critiques but were always kind and made sure you weren’t just criticizing but offering constructive comments. Really enjoyed the video! Love watching Taylor grow as an artist!
Taylor reminds of Madonna in that they’re both limited as vocalists but they’re able to convey emotions through their singing regardless. Madonna can’t convey emotions like she once could but she’s 62 years old after all. They’re also talented in song writing, great performers & their vocals have matured as time went on.
Taylor isn't all that limited tbh. She has an average vocal range and clearly knows her voice well. High notes and belting aren't everything (even if they were, she's shown she can do them and has shown consistent improvement). Her lows are great, she keeps improving and expanding her voice (she's been consistent enough in live shows from the start), keeps showing different sides of her voice. She has insane breath control. I'd say she's pretty well rounded in her voice
@@littlelou050 yaaaa good singing does not compulsorily need high notes and belting. Many people who are able to reach high notes are not able to reach low notes. They just need to be good in their own ways.
Yes! Cyndi Lauper’s vocal was better than Madonna’s many years ago but Madonna’s career could last way longer. So vocal skills does not always important for considering a singer is good or not. I mean, Bob Dylan isn’t a good singer too, but his song writing could got him a Nobel prize.🙃
2:18 they don’t have to do the US national anthem, but bc it’s played prior to most games, it’s a great way to get exposure or just have fun singing in front of people.
She has come a long way. Madonna and Cher would be good choices. I know they're older but they are still performing. Did they reach a point where they finalized their techniques or are they continuing to evolve. Has their age required changes.

I'm so glad you did this! I'm such a Taylor fan :) I have always wondered why she doesn't incorporate vibrato in her singing. I really wish she had added vibrato at the end of Beautiful Ghosts most of all.
