Sad that there are not just lines of trucks ready to be loaded. Glad you are using some of it. I can remember clay tile being installed on our little farm.
I'm a Farmer. I understand sketchy, especially when you can't get help and have to do stuff alone. Another great video! Wish I was closer, I'd get some of those 10 footers! Thanks Mike & Aaron! Lee
Enjoyed that, seeing that skidsteer pushed beyond the manufacturer's expectations was kind of fun, and I'm sure some will be telling you about damage to the machine, but from experience, the most immediate and noticeable damage when I exceed the "capabilities" of a tractor is that I have to replace the seat, where it kind of "bunches up" in the middle.🙄
This may be a dumb question but I don’t see any of the bottom row chocked what is the chance they will decide to roll around from the weight on the top 😁🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
@@dougthibault8515 I suspect friction, generally, buttttttt,,,,,,, fingers crossed it’s not an issue. They may have them chocked now. At least the one end is piled up against stuff at the end of the video,,,,,, even if one row is held in place by some BROKEN PIPES!!! Hahaha.
@@jacksonroland8429 no I meant on the ground at Mikes yard when he was stacking them all I could see was them rolling out from the bottom from the weight on the top didn’t see any chalks 😁👍🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
It's hard to see that much usable material going to waste but at the same time if you don't have a job for it now or in the near future, it takes space to store and money to buy. I think you made good choices getting what you could for cheap while you could. I'm surprised you and farmer Chris weren't keeping 2 trucks on rotation.
I don't know I about the newer ones, but the older ones are tough trucks . I have a buddy that has one that he has had for about 30 years with a log loader on it and he has hauled logs all that time, most of the time 5 days a week except when he goes on vacation or has a break down and doesn't have logs to haul and he bought the truck used . I don't know what the model year is .
I work for the lumber company that made the sticks that the pipe were stacked on for shipping. We sent the sticks to Texas, Colorado Florida, Ohio, New Jersey and I'm sure some other places.
You did a good job taking care of the pipes insted of them get destroid, there was hours of hard work in to making them years ago and it might make someone happy to see that their work was not wasted.⭐👍🤠
You can take plastic barrels and cut the top and bottom out of them and split them down the side and wrap can around them like a band aid. And the pressure from the dirt holds the barrels in place over the ends of the clay tile. Some places give them barrels away like at car washes and so on . Use to around here you could buy them for $ 5 each, but they are probably more now . I use to repair car washes and got a lot of the barrels, soap and prespray and wax comes in them .
Just love how you guys get-er-done! Comes to mind (where I live) town would be all for crushing the pipe then sitting on all that land. I do remember your tour of this facility near a couple years ago. MAN, you just keep giving! So THANKS!
Several times it look like we had tunnel vision you’re a good operator I was wants to heavy equipment mechanic and I hated to see equipment abused but I know you’ve got to get the job done the best way you can have a great day
Thanks for taking us along on the trip to the old clay tile factory and giving us some history about it. And I am glad that you were able to get all of these pipes and save them . And looks like that there is lots more of them . They could be used for different things other than drain-water way pipes . Looks like that you and Matt had fun going to get them and loading them. I will see you all on another video so be careful and stay safe . As always, Jeffrey !!!
We went to a product that is easier to work with, but the clay pipe was a locally sourced material and manufactured product. A win but maybe a bigger loss. My hometown had brick factories. The streets and sidewalks were all brick. Glad you could rescue a few.
Sad to hear all them remaining being crushed.. They are great for making fish habitats in ponds & small lakes.. Thank you for sharing, I very much enjoyed watching...
Hi DP if you go back for more, grab a chain and speedbinder, hook the front of the pipe to the fork guard to take some weight off the front end. Good luck.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and videos. Great to see so much pipe rescued. Was reminded of my BOCES masonry class, we built a huge brick hearth / grill in class for a fundraiser and when it came time to move it from the classroom the forklift could barely budge it. Lifted as much as we could with back wheels off the ground, then the entire class climbed onto the back of the forklift to get the tires back onto / near the ground. Hadn’t yet heard of the sketchy song but it would have certainly been appropriate. Still wondering how it ever got loaded to be transported out of there, we just barely got it out side the building. Wishing you and your family the best.
I would've never thought that pipe would've weighed that much! 4000 lbs! Wow! I've messed with a many of concrete pipe and small clay sewer pipe but I had no idea! Good job!
The small square would make a good border for a yard, road. . Some deals you have to take advantage of when the deal is up for grabs. I hope you have a way to secure your find. Not everybody is as honest as your team.
out in california one of these clay works still exists, hard to believe the way things are these days. been there over 100 years now! probably about the oldest biz in the state.
that a hell of a pile, happened to have been down at tell city a few weeks ago, wanted to detour and see the old plant, sayin that, dusk, rain and trailer runnin heavy, just burned thru the bridge and home,,be blessed and hope your project pans out,,,my bobcat would cry at half a pipe,,
I seen a nice little trick for lifting these pipe a while ago. Get a chain and attach it to the top of the fork frame. And then get a piece of steel cut into a C shape and you can support the far end of the pipe so it doesn't put so much force in the middle.
Good video! I loaded some 8 ft long concrete pipe with my lil New Holland tractor a few months ago and I hooked a chain on top of my fork mass and connected to the outer end of pipe and tilted all way back and it helped. Puts the weight leaning towards the boom instead of outward. I know that sounds dumb but it makes a difference. But if you already had the new Case 620 skid steer it probably would have never been an issue. 😊😀😁💪
I live here in Kingston Ont. Canada & back in the mid 70's to early ninety's we had 2 very large pipes like the ones you have outside our hospital...one painted with the 7 up logo & one with the Coke logo put in place by the Queens University art & other people...KIDS LOVED IT...SADLY it was removed in mid 90's.
I would be building a huge smoker using different combinations of those leftovers. Would work fantastic. Think of the big green egg series. Those go for big bucks.
Oh oh with a little Kubota great Brick Pipe to Transport to bring not Fun for the Driver. All good and with a full Loader go it to the new Resting Place. Yeah ! I think that he said he just gave $1 a pipe for those.
I hope the county was able to sell most of the pipe. Even so I’m glad to see sight being cleared.
Its amazing how much that little skid steer will pick up. Hydraulics is some amazing stuff man. I worked on hydraulics the majority of my young life.
With all the shortages seems like a good idea. Good video.

Is that the fun pushing them beyond the limits. Mine is rated for 3200lbs but I pick up around 5-6k with mine daily 😂

Another good thing about this pipe is there is no bell to argue about which way it points!

Loved the video with the voice over on return trip I really enjoyed that
that clay pipe is really beautiful stuff. so many different types at the yard. a pity it got crushed.
6X6 beam chained and strapped to the forks work great!.
We use to haul concrete pipe, we chained them the same way you have them. The bigger pipe we chained each one, but we only had 2 or 3. Good job Mike.
Good to see this video good to see things that were made in the USA.
Nothing sounds like a Mack going through the gears....love it. 👍🏻

Good thing you have that storage yard. Because the big boss probably wouldn't let you store that pipe at the main office.... 😆
SAd to see such a historical factory closed. I remember fondly the tour of the factory with the oldtimers. very informative.
Might be a video of you guy’s moving clay pipes, but enjoyed it. Thank you !
Thanks
Yes Sir Mike...a smart man buys low and sells high. Loved the video escapades.
I think that he said that he gave a $1 a pipe for those .
Nice to see those pipes get used & not trashed so the sweat that went into making them was not all in vane. Nice score for future use to..
You did a good job taking care of the pipes insted of them get destroid, there was hours of hard work in to making them years ago
and it might make someone happy to see that their work was not wasted.⭐👍🤠
I hate to see those small town industries disappear. A lot of people raised their families working at that plant.
I’m anxious to see the connections with out a male and female end. Concrete maybe! Looking forward to seeing them put to use!
Clay tile and buried in the soil expand and makes the joints very tight no concrete needed
He has a video where he installed some pipe for farmer chris. Remember them laying some sort of material over the joints.
Flex tape ... 🤣
normally they use a stainless steel and rubber coupler

Cool place! Don’t see any clay pipe around here anymore ,but I bet at one time mabe some came from that place 👍
love the sound of our people nice sounding Jake brake nice load of pipe cant wait to see the project you have planned

Thanks for sharing the one load of pipe very interesting and I had no idea they weighed that much. Stay safe
Glad you were able to rescue some of that clay pipe! ✌🏻🇺🇸
Like the drone.

Hi DP if you go back for more, grab a chain and speedbinder, hook the front of the pipe to the fork guard to take some weight off the front end. Good luck.
My thoughts and idea exactly or scoop the other way and drive them on unhooked trailer deck this was completely the hardest approach to a simple task
some beautiful old pipes they would be realy great for heavy vehicle road access, great video.
You boys playing with your pipes!!!
Good to see that you guys are trying to save and utilize everything that you can. The video of the factory was cool.
Great vid. Love all the different camera angles.
Thanks
....a real pipe dream..lol.. good job, keep safe..

While you were there, you should have picked up some of those +/- 4" squares! Perfect for a wine rack, then plywood, and storage on top!
Way to fix a supply chain issue (cost/availability), plus helping the local environment.
Good stuff!
Definitely some pucker factor involved with loading with the skid steer! Thanks for the ride along.
Cool ending. Have a great day.
Mike and Matt very interesting video! Thanks for sharing! Kevin
Glad you enjoyed it!
Man who'da thunk that a loader would be the perfect tool to unload pipe, why your friendly contractor Dirt Perfect that's who, he's a genius.
Thanks for entertaining me!!
Thanks for watching
WOW Mike that's a lot of pipe it will make a great Job I really enjoyed this video 🇺🇲

I would like some of those flue tiles! They are great for planting mints and other plants that spread
So glad that you're saving a lot of that pipe that pipe from that yard guard because that is part of your history

WOW that is some heavy pipe
Looks like you'all will be laying pipe some day down the road:)
When i worked at our local lumber yard i made a few yrips there and got flue liners and 6 inch drain tile it was a pretty neat place
Could have you used a hook and chain on lip tied to stidsteer trail
The 7 footers are some of the "jacking" pipes without the stainless steel collars I do believe.
