I got one if those key finders with a remote from Amazon for around twenty bucks. One of the best things I ever bought.

Cool. I guess that if you have a key stolen, recoding would prevent it from starting the vehicle. I assume the lost key would still open the door locks. Is there a way to reprogram the transponder code with the keyfobs? I'll find a local locksmith with these tools. Thanks!

Yes mechanically the key still would work, but the chip in the key can be reprogrammed and then you can get rid of any other keys in the system that used to work when doing the programming using an all keys lost option. If you want to make sure that mechanically the key won’t work then you’d have to have the cylinders pulled and rekeyed then reinstalled.

As long as you have the right key for your vehicle and a programmer then you can program it.
