Another story says that we just use it because we want to set ourselves apart from Colombia and Ecuador because our flags are basically the same. The true origin is that the football (soccer) team had to use the uniforms of the National Guard for a friendly match because of color clashing with the team they were facing. The color that represents the Venezuelan National Guard is burgundy (vinotinto) and that's the color that stuck.
The teams that didn't make it to the WBC have awesome hats too! Argentina, New Zealand and Pakistan, for instance... New Era and some independent stores have it.

In my opinion I think the Panama hat is the best. So you have all the flag colors faded into the Brim and the front part and back part of the hat. Also having a Navy Blue outline across the P. the K in the korea hat is actually two korean letter "k's" interconnected. "ㄱ" i think thats kind of cool. everyone knocks it for the weird font but they never know why its that shape. that being said, i like the darker navy they used instead of the normal royal/sky blue they rock.
I'm curious about the navy blue this year. Personally I like the sky/baby blue because it reminds me of North carolina haha, which i'm sure will make Marc very unhappy the font is different, but it's way better than the ones they had in 2006. Holy fuck, that was the most boring, blandest looking font ever lol. My mother was convinced the Japanese manipulated MLB to give Korea the worst uniforms in the tournament, which made me laugh because it was such a stupid conspiracy
