I just started the knock and will be donating it to my church when I finish. It is a boatful ,piece and you did a fabulous job on it . I made my frame first and will placed the pieces in as I go .Never tried it this way before but it made sense to me to do it that way.
Have fun making it! I did the frame last but you can do it however you want, thats what I love about doing art! Your church will treasure your gift I'm sure. 🤎🤎🤎
Blood wood, puprle heart, yellow heart, wenge... They are all like granite! I am making Love Spoons along with Intarsia, but the added hand carving makes these woods a lot tougher to use. When I saw you picked blood wood and those long lines, I was thinking, have fun with going through blades. Only four!?!?!?!
You are fabulous, Cy! I cannot watch your video(s) without smiling... you make our day! :) I love this 'Jesus' intarsia, but I just don't have that kind of patience to make it anymore, if ever. Thank you so much for sharing!
Hi Cy, a version of this from a late 1860s oil painting is my signature piece for my scrollsaw artwork page. Knock on Wood Scrollsaw Art it is done in fretwork. Love this version in Intarsia
Hi Cy. Another fantastic video. Thanks for sharing. I am going to link to this video in today's post. I know that many of my readers will love seeing this pattern come to life. Steve from the Scrollsaw Workshop.
Wow, that turned out AWESOME! I had no idea is was so large. You found the perfect spot for it in your house. That must have been a very challenging piece but so beautiful!!!
Amazing work Cy as usual. I love the wood choices. They were perfect. The detail came out very well and what a perfect place to display it. Happy Easter Cy!
It’s beautiful, Cy and I love it. You did an amazing job on it. I had no idea it was so large, but that just makes it all the more impressive. You did absolutely the right thing using bloodwood, although I bet it took a little while to cut. I plan to make some bigger pieces next year if I can get done everything I want to do this year. Hope you had a great Easter.
Thank you, I thought blood wood was an appropriate wood for Jesus' robe. :) It is very dense along with the wenge. I know you did an entire schnauzer out of wenge, bet that was difficult! I have so many more I want to make too! Hope you enjoyed celebrating Jesus' resurrection!
First that is beautiful creation. I have had an interest in trying intarsia for some time. I have watched several of your videos and because of you I am going to give it a try when the blasted weather warms up. lastly, what is the brand of your cylinder sander? I hear you call it pneumatic but it has a power cord. pneumatic usually refers to air powered. thank you.
Hello! Thank you. I'm excited to hear you are giving intarsia a try! Yay! My sander is a Woodtek, sadly it is no longer available. I do have a link for one that is similar. These are pneumatic drum sanders, the drum is filled with air. I love my Woodtek, this other one here is nearly the same, I removed my flap sander. :) Grizzly G8749 - Drum / Flap Sander www.grizzly.com/products/Grizzly-Drum-Flap-Sander/G874
That’s simply amazing!!! I’ve had the same pattern for a number of years, just haven’t gotten around to work on it. You’ve given me more ambition to take another look. I loved your wood choices and the way you laid it out. Was the plexiglass to protect the paper? Nice job!
The plexiglass was so I could put the pieces on the pattern but have a hard surface for it to sit on but see through it. It also provides a nice flat surface that I have a hard time finding in the shop, with glue stuck on things and sagging surfaces. It does protect the pattern too, if it covers the whole thing anyway! I ended up using a large piece of plywood later, not so much protection for the pattern but it was a nice solid and flat surface! I'm excited for you to make this one too!
You are sooo talented. I had hope of doing nite things with woodworking when i retired but back problems keep me off my feet. I picked up sublimation as a hobby. I have enjoyed your videos and I'd like to make a mug for you if you would like. Let me know if you would like one. I can put a picture of anything on one. So you would have to send me a graphic. If you are interested contact me and we'll getter done. I hope you're enjoying Orygun.
That is really beautiful! I’m about to get started practicing intarsia (now that I’ve done 3 regular scrolling pieces), and have been learning a lot from watching your videos!) May I ask where you source your blue pine? Thanks.
Hello, thank you. :) I get my blue pine from a few different places here in Oregon. Here is a link to my website, it's a page of where I get my wood. Mikes bargain barn (on the page) also carries blue pine. cyscorner.wordpress.com/where-i-get-my-wood/
Hello, and thank you for such outstanding scroll saw art on your youtube channel. I know you may get this question a lot but what would you recommend to start with a scroll saw? I am getting into it and bought a used Ryobi that turns out is too rusted to hold pinless blades. Do you have a cheaper recommendation that one could start with?
Hello, sorry to hear your saw is too rusty! I have heard a lot of good things about the Dewalt scroll saws, those are around 500 or so. I did buy a WEN scroll saw and it held both pinned and pinless blades, it worked well for the money, it was less than 150 bucks. Also, you can find some smashing deals at garage sales! Hope that helps.
I am brand new to scroll sawing. have not cut anything yet,but I love this picture. just went to Klingspore show at the Hickory convention center, and a man had this pic for sale. I wanted it but someone had already bought it. I know I have a lot to learn but I really want to try my hand at this picture. So could you please tell me where you got the picture and how you blowed it up to look like a pattern. thanks.
Hello, it is a pattern by Bruce Worthington, he sells a lot of patterns. Here is a link, this pattern of Jesus is the 8th one down. It is a large pattern. You will need to take it to a copy place who can make large copies. intarsia.hostcentric.com/home/homepage/newpage1.htm You said you're new to scroll sawing? I'm happy that you are going to do intarsia! This is a huge project, I recommend making something smaller just to get used to the process. @@CysCorner Thank you so much, I am 65 and I actually Set up a workshop with, a lathe, drill press, sanders, planer, and lots more . I knew I wanted to work with wood, but was unsure of what to do until I seen this pic. It is beautiful. Thanks again.
Hello, I now have a Hegner, I like it much better. The Excalibur blade tended to slip and I was constantly adjusting it, this one holds it super tight and no slipping!
@@CysCorner Hello. Thanks for answering me. If you want to repair your Excalibur blade slipping, you can buy a "Blade Clamp Renewal Kit" from Seyco. And you'll be good to go. And I hear that Hegner scroll saws have the minimum back to front motion of the blade.
Fantastic MSIC. How appropriate to show this video on the day of His resurrection. You did a masterful job.

I agree, bloodwood is hard to cut. I find that weng is difficult to. I agree that a number 5 works better than the small blades.
Wenge is one tough one, cut some today and broke 3 blades right away. Oops, didn't mean to rhyme! 🤣
