Patrice O'Neal died due to complications from a stroke. He was 41.
And yet, Darryl hit all his lowest points after becoming an office worker (like when he got depressed after the warehouse guys won the lottery), and also Office Darryl became a bit of a hypocrite after his promotion for treating the warehouse like a playpen just as much as all the other office guys (even using it as a band room during operating hours).
That’s why this episode mentioned depression as well. It’s easy to think that what the other person is doing is easy when you’re not the one doing it.

Kelly actually defends people in many scenarios. Here she sort of defended Micheal by naming Patrice as a hypocrite. Even when Michael was egging on Toby to punch him and annoying him, Kelly encouraged Toby. She is not afraid to stand up for people.
She was also very patient with Angela in 'Product Recall'. But the thing about Kelly is she is very unpredictable. She changed the customer feedback for Dwight and Jim because they didn't come to her party
